As of December 10, 2018, BBB has received several complaints and Scam Tracker reports from consumers alleging they received a red screen pop up from what appeared to be Microsoft claiming their computer was infected with a virus. Consumers state the pop-up directs them to call 844-837-0313 and speak with a customer service agent who claims to be affiliated with Microsoft. It is then alleged, the agent then takes control of the consumer’s computer remotely and claims to be cleaning the computer from all viruses. Consumers state they are persuaded to purchase tech support packages for hundreds of dollars and thereafter the company keeps calling for additional funds and services. When consumers take their computer to local computer repair shops, technicians find malware has been installed and they are unable to get a refund.
BBB found Softtech Solutions, advertising at http://softechsolutions.tech is not physically located in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The Idaho Falls address belongs to a different business. The website, created on December 17, 2017 is registered to Unicorn Solutions in India. Unicorn Solutions is owned by Vikram Dhanda and Sumit Dhingra. BBB attempted to reach out to the business by email and letter. To date the company has not responded.
