AWESOME company to do business with. It is always a bit unnerving to order somethin on line from an unknown company.It was easy, efficient and honest. I purchased a kit Thursday night and decided the next day to cancel the order. I called and was told that since the item was on their shipping table it could not be cancelled. My only option was to sent the item back at my expense once I received it. Today I received a shipping notice that the label was created today, Monday. If their system doesn't allow cancellation before it leaves their facility they need a new system. I will use the fabric rather than lose more money on shipping but I can't take the chance on ordering in the future. ****** HShabby Fabrics Response

First time customer. Read a review that the Magic Pillowcase pattern is the pattern to use. Googled the pattern and found Shabby Fabrics. Website was easy to use with lots of helpful suggestions. Watched the Magic Pillowcase video which was great. From there I chose my fabric and some of the tools used in the video to make things easier. Prices were very competition with my local fabric store. Before submitting my order, I decided to eliminate an item but ended up completing my order instead. Called customer service and they were very polite and helpful. They adjusted my Order as I wanted and processed a refund. When I received my refund, I realized that the shipping cost was not included. Responded to the refund email asking for a second review. They responded within a day saying they agreed and they would process an additional refund. In the meantime I have received my order - within one week which I think is very timely. Shabby **************** Purchased a kit and backing for a total of $195 from this company in Aug 2022 It included 9 fat quarters, 5 of which were short and consequently not usable given the included pattern instructions. Also, ****** was wavy despite several passes with iron and starch. I called. After describing the problem, the Rep opened another kit and i was told fat quarters were accurate and no waves. Anyone who could have possibly remedied the situation had left for the day (Friday 1pm local). I was Asked to send email with pictures which I did. They called Monday: nothing they could do since I purchased this kit 9 months ago and they had no fabric left (except kits). As a solution I suggested sacrificing their kit and sending 5 fat quarters from it. That idea was rejected. Also suggested purchasing the fat quarters from Etsy (where I had looked in case this all fell apart). Rep said we are not going to buy from Etsy. Ie No solution, compromise, compensation or apology offered. No creativity in solving. Nothing. I told her how dissatisfied I was and that I would not be purchasing anything from them in the future. In my opinion and my experience there is no value in doing business here.Shabby Fabrics Response

We stand behind our kits 100%, even in the event that a fabric is cut incorrectly we still do everything we can to come up with a solution. Those particular kits were cut with a precision machine that is specifically engineered to cut fabric, and we have had no other issues arise from these kits. Shabby Fabrics is extremely generous with out fabric cuts, and always ensures that the kits provide more than enough fabric then you need to complete the project. The kit in question was purchased almost a year ago, and unfortunately the collection has since been discontinued. Had this inquiry come within a reasonable amount of time, there is a greater chance that we would have still had the collection in the building and we would have been able to assist you in a way that was closer to your expectation. But once a collection is discontinued by the manufacturer the ability to assist in those situations is out of our hands.

I do have concerns about the response that Shabby Fabrics provided to my review. My concerns follow the statements at issue, that you made in your response.1."We stand behind our kits 100%, even in the event that a fabric is cut incorrectly we still do everything we can to come up with a solution."I'm not sure that you do everything you can to come up with a solution. There are alternative solutions which I have already presented, but it would seem that Shabby Fabrics has elected not to use them. You CAN solve it. You choose not to.2."Those particular kits were cut with a precision machine that is specifically engineered to cut fabric, and we have had no other issues arise from these kits. "Given that the fabric was wavy, and in my opinion (as well as someone else I was sewing with) cut short and unevenly, I would submit that these ** were either cut from the end of the bolt, or the fabric was not positioned on the precision machine correctly, or both. Again, of the 9 fat quarters in the kit, 5 were not usable. They are cut too short and they are clearly NOT cut accurately as 18"x *********** of fabric. They did not even match each other. In addition, you mention that you have had no other issues with these kits. That *** be true with this line, but another May 2023 review on the BBB site states "Purchased a $150 kit which was short 9 of one of the fabrics. shabby Fabric wanted me to buy a whole Oops package for $30 in order to solve the problem. The kit was short. It was not a mistake on my part." Purchase an oops package??? I have to believe you did not mean to suggest that solution. Oops packages are for when the quilter makes the mistake. Im detecting a pattern here and it is not a quilt pattern.3."Shabby Fabrics is extremely generous with our fabric cuts, and always ensures that the kits provide more than enough fabric then you need to complete the project."It is interesting that you mention this. This kit is advertised 'beginner friendly'. The ** at issue were just short of 21" (short of 20" after selvedge removed); The quilter is then expected to cut blocks that total to 19 7/8". I do not consider the extra 1/8 generous and consider the cutting requirement a bit challenging for a beginner.4."The kit in question was purchased almost a year ago, and unfortunately the collection has since been discontinued. Had this inquiry come within a reasonable amount of time, there is a greater chance that we would have still had the collection in the building and we would have been able to assist you in a way that was closer to your expectation. It is completely within your control. You have the fabric. You have kits; or at least one kit. While on the phone, ***** opened a kit to examine the fat quarters in it. You choose to provide a stock answer and do nothing. I was simply asking to receive what I paid for. NOW I am suggesting you take a hard look at your customer satisfaction philosophy.Shaina, this is not about kits, fat quarters, accurate cutting or inaccurate cutting. This is about customer service, and how ********************** handles customer grievances. Rule 1 in any management class on the topic of customer complaints is for the customer service team and/or management to demonstrate EMPATHY. Even if you have none. Instead, you have decided to defensively 'stand by your kits 100%' implying that you believe I am wrong, because you've 'never had this problem before', or you just don't want to fix it, or you can't afford to fix it. What you can't afford is poor customer service. In fact, a study by Harvard Business Review found that customers who have a complaint handled in less than 5 minutes are willing to spend more on future purchases. Simply put, a customer complaint can become very profitable when you can resolve a problem quickly.Again, you could have simply sent the fat quarters from the opened kit, sent a new kit, or for about $15 you could have ordered them from Etsy and had them sent to me. Instead, here we are.Even if you choose to resolve this in a manner satisfactory to both of us, I would likely not want to do business with a company that does not honor its commitment to provide the product that has been paid for, nor, more importantly, respects (listens to, believes) its clients enough to attempt to satisfy grievances. ************Review from Alice R

The kit in question was purchased 2 years ago, and unfortunately the collection has since been discontinued. When you called seeking a solution, you were offered a solution that was the extent of what we have and even offered a generous discount rate. That solution was not acceptable to you. Had this inquiry come within a reasonable amount of time, there is a greater chance that we would have still had the collection in the building and we would have been able to assist you in a way that was closer to your expectation. But once a collection is discontinued by the manufacturer the ability to assist in those situations is out of our hands, which is why the Oops Kits were established. GONE DOWN HILL!!! I have ordered many items from this company but it seems they are full of deception now. I signed up for their Block of the Month program last October for a program that started January of 2022. I paid a $10.00 deposit and was told my kit would arrive in January. After hearing that some people had had their account information dumped because of an update I decided to check my account. All of my information was still in the system stating that my BOM was scheduled to arrive at the end of January. This was around January 10th. On January 20th I learn that some people received e-mails that their kits were mailed. After I did not receive an e-mail I contacted Shabby Fabrics only to be told that I had been dumped for not verifying payment. But they already had taken payment for the deposit. I also do not get my deposit back. I was also told that they were already mailing kits to wait listed people. Soooo how many people were dumped. And deposits kept. Many people work many hours a day and very rarely even get to check e-mails and were probably as excited as myself to begin this BOM. Such a bad and sneaky money scam. There is a limited time to pay for a Block of the Month when it first begins, and we make every possible attempt via emails and phone to make customers aware of any issues. If there is no response, only then do we assume someone is no longer interested in participating in the program. I know you were looking forward to being part of this program and for some reason, our messages were not getting through to you. I have gone ahead and refunded you the $10.00 reserve fee to the card you used for your most recent purchase with us on 5/7.
