Aloha Construction siding crew hit our ****** service line coming into our home causing a short and power surge within the house. Our furnace ( installed 6 months ago brand new) also shorted and we have been with out heat for 4 days and counting. I told aloha they should have been contacting companies to come make the repairs so we have heat in our home or have put us up until the issue could be resolved. I told them we wanted our new furnace replaced ( exact same model) as we had HVAC contractors replace transformer and a new circuit board. The blower motor is also bad and inducer motor is whining now. I was told that’s not negotiable. I asked for my deductible back for putting 3 children in a home that’s freezing cold for 4+ days. They haven’t lifted a finger to assist us in correcting the mistakes made by them. I advised them we will retain the check for repairs until all issues were resolved. They said we can go to court. The local fire department should have report of Aloha Construction ( or their sub contractors) causing the damage which has led to the furnace being inoperable. It’s been 52 degrees, 47 degrees, snd 44 degrees inside our home since Friday. We have three children that are miserable because our siding contractor caused our furnace to short out and they have not offered to make the necessary repairs to correct this issue.Business response

We have acknowledged and reviewed ****** complaint. However, the statements that are currently being claimed regarding this matter, we are not in agreement with. We have been in contact with **** and his adjuster via email and are pending resolution based on further information that has to be obtained. We are confident that this matter will be handled and resolved shortly.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because.. they still do not want to make this right.
I had to work with my home owners insurance to have my furnace and electrical system repaired caused by Aloha’s siding contractor. We have requested the siding and issues they were hired to do. They were told that after the electrical issue they caused, all work was to be completed while I was off and able to be home. However, it’s been a week since we have had any response from aloha. There seems to be no sense of urgency on their part.Business response

We have left numerous voicemails with no return call. The insurance company has paid for his furnace. This matter should be closed once the bill is paid.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: no calls or voicemails were left to me. I had them back out to complete the subpar work on the siding. They cut so many corners in this process and try to blame everything other than the subcontractors. Insurance has submitted the final payout check for aloha and we will be glad to be done dealing with them. They are shady, do poor work, and will blame everyone but themselves for their poor work. I will still recommend that NO ONE USE THIS COMPANY. They ran screws into a lighting junction box to hold it together because they didn't want to make the right repairs. Just another reason to stay away from this company

This company refuses to be upfront about their pricing and has you sign an agreement to pay them whatever money insurance pays out for hail damage plus deductible. My insurance ended up paying significantly more than what the cost of the roof should be. The sales rep, Kevin, proceeded to yell at me in front of my house, for all the neighbors to see/hear, that I was 'wasting his time' when I questioned their pricing. These practices are extremely unprofessional in my opinion and I feel as though others should be warned about this company.Business response

We have read and reviewed the complaint submitted by ********. He has signed 12 contracts on 12 different properties, so he is well aware of the terms and conditions of our contract. Furthermore he has received and signed off on his consumer rights pamphlet as well. He has not allowed us to build any of these projects yet. His argument was that his $18,000 roof can be done for $5000.00 dollars is absurd as the material alone costs more than that. He believes he's entitled to a new roof and $13,000 dollars in his pocket. This is insurance fraud and we will not be part of that. Insurance quotes are updated every 3 months by region to have a fair current cost of the repairs, so the estimate is totally fair. We believe ******** has used us to obtain funds on 12 houses and has no intent on holding up his end of the contract. We have countless hours going to each one of these houses, meeting his adjusters, paid for measurements on all his homes and worked with his adjusters on the back end to obtain the necessary funds to repair the damage to his home. So no, we do not agree with his request to have no further contact. He has two options per all 12 signed contracts, let us build the homes for insurance proceeds as agreed or pay us the cancellation fee per the contract. We urge ******** to return our calls to discuss this before we as a company take the next steps. Thanks.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
This company is trying to price gouge based on insurance proceeds, rather than provide a reasonable quote for the work being done. I received a message from their sales rep that they would be dropping off the materials for my project and they didn't even know which house it was for and I had asked how much I would need to be paying upon drop off. After the rep looked it up, she said it was for my house on *** * ********* and not the house I was expecting at **** * *******. Their quote for **** ******* came in at $3,491, which is a 780 sq ft house and the one I have been waiting for weeks for them to schedule. When I asked what the final price came in at for *** * *********, they simply said it was 'only my deductible'. I questioned the actual price and she refused to give it to me and said her supervisor, Kevin, would come out to go over the paperwork with me in person. He proceeded to dodge the questions I had or to be upfront about pricing and, almost immediately, began yelling at me in front of my house for all the neighbors to see that I 'wasted his time'. After FINALLY seeing some of the paperwork, I asked him why Aloha was charging me over $550 per square for a roof job and he proceeded to aggressively yell then got into his truck and shut the window on me, effectively terminating the conversation. A premium roof job costs around $250 per square and this is a 22 square project. Any roofing company would do my roof for somewhere in the range of $5-6,000 (22sq x $250/sq = $5,500). I had simply asked them to provide a more reasonable price for this roof, which they refused to do.In response to this most recent message about having done none of my roofs, this is a lie. They have completed a roof project for me at 1928 N Ellis and were supposed to complete the roof at **** * *******, a 780 sq ft house, but have failed to schedule that project (presumably since their quote came in 'relatively low' at $3,491). Furthermore, they quoted $5,436.59 for another house on **** * *********, which is only 504 sq ft, (both ******* and ********* are simple, 1 story gable style roofs with 2 straight runs). They also quoted $5,262.93 for **** * *********, a 576 sq ft house. It makes ZERO reasonable sense that a 780 sq ft house would cost 40% less than these other two houses which are much smaller. When I asked them for an explanation, they refused to provide any, defaulting back to "well, you only have to pay your deductible".
I have flipped houses and replaced MANY roofs throughout my career and this company refuses to work with an educated consumer. They are simply trying to price gouge them into signing away their own insurance proceeds. I do not appreciate the suggestion that I am somehow committing insurance fraud when it is Aloha construction who is acting in a secretive way to try and hide the true information from the consumer. I can't even imagine how many customers they have taken advantage of over the years. I will NOT be paying their 15% service fee for ANY of these projects for 2 reasons. 1 - The contract states that all the customer is responsible for paying for is their deductible and all the quotes beside *** * ********* came in at a price that would require more out of my pocket than the deductible and 2 - NONE of the contracts were signed by Bruesch Properties, LTD which is the owner of all of these houses.
Again, I am asking for this company to NEVER contact me again as I do not agree with their unscrupulous business practices. After further investigation, it seems that many other reviewers have the same thoughts about this place.
Thank you.

Again, the contract was for insurance proceeds. You signed this several times so that argument is irrelevant. Insurance companies pay claims via software that is done by regions and updated every 3 months so the prices are fair. None the less you agreed on the contract multiple times. As an educated consumer as you claimed, you should be aware of the terms. You were fine with the terms when the first house was built. Nothing has changed in your response from your initial complaint. I am willing to abide by the contract and build the properties or allow you your legal cancellation rights or even come to an agreement but If you're refusing to hold up your end of the contract and refuse to pay the amount due I will just hand the file over to our legal department.Customer response
09/26/2023
I am rejecting this response because:
I am well aware of how contracts work and ******* ********** did not sign them, yet is the owner of these properties. I was looking forward to working with Aloha construction and had simply asked for them to provide a more reasonable price for *** *********. $18,000 for a roof on this house is simply unreasonable. Again, when I had asked them to be more reasonable, their representative became extremely unprofessional and rude, in front of my house for all neighbors to see. Given they could have had the opportunity to replace the roofs for 10 houses, one would presume best business practice would be to negotiate their price for a simple roof job that should cost 1/3rd of what insurance paid out. I will not withdraw this complaint and will make this issue known so they don't continue to price gouge consumers in the future. I wish to never be contacted by this company again.

Back in August of 2022 a Aloha representative came to my door step about this bad storm we just had and could get insurance to pay for a new roof because of all the hail damage and I knew better…I expressed my concerns many times and he kept reassuring me that I had nothing to worry about and I wouldn’t be out anything because they do the job for whatever my home insurance says the roof is worth. They were great to work with at the beginning. A very eager to put the roof on even before insurance sent the first check. I was promised a quick and amazing service and no damage to property and a hydraulic trailer to catch debris. I did not get any of that but a quick service. They dropped tarps down the side of my house and dumped all the old shingles and debris into and on top of my landscaping. There was no hydraulic trailer for 2-3 hours of them already starting and dumping it all in my flowers. I went outside multiple times to try and speak with them about it and they did not speak any English. I called the guy that came to my door his name is ****** and was very upset about what was going on and he swore something would be done and now they refuse to replace anything. My adjuster *** ****** was amazing to work with and answered all my questions and calls through out this whole process while I was being ignored and no returned phone calls from Aloha. He reached out to Aloha hisself and they drug their feet and didn’t respond to him or get him proper paperwork or measurements. All while they couldn’t answer my calls or text but could definitely call or text me when demanding payment. They did not fix my gutters as they were suppose too. They sent me two different estimates one had a whole bunch of random things on it that they just added to try and get more money and the adjuster called and demanded them fix it then they sent a second estimate. I have both insurance checks and am refusing to pay because they have done me wrong. And these people are scam artist.Business response

We have read the complaint made by Mrs ****. We built her home over a year ago and still have not received payment. The reason there was multiple invoices sent is because ***** refused to give us her insurance paperwork after home was built. Our agreement is for insurance proceeds, since she would not share, we made an estimate with same scope of work that was agreed with adjuster. Finally we got a hold of *** ***** and he sent us the paperwork and we then billed her according to the contract and the paperwork. Our invoice is 100% correct. We have a system that shows all calls in and out and can assure you that the statement of us not returning calls or not working with her adjuster is false. As far as the landscaping, Mrs **** tore all the flowers out in the spring. With that being said, we are willing to give her a $200 credit off her bill for the flowers with prompt payment.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
I did not refuse to send you updated paperwork that I did not receive! I have messages and emails from the adjuster where I reached out multiple time because I messaged ****** (from your company) and called and received no responses! *** ****** always answered and returned my calls and stated you guys didn’t send him the proper things he needs to do his job so that is why I never got updated paperwork! He could not get you guys to do your job so he could do his! I set around waiting with no help from anyone but him because I am very dissatisfied with your company and their work so yes I am not releasing the payment til you guys make things right! As a costumer I have that right! You guys have been a nightmare to deal with and I will do everything in my power to not be taking advantage of and cause my family financial stress because you guys can’t get your business handled on your end! I have done everything I suppose to but you guys have not and that is why I haven’t released any money to you! The adjuster, my insurance company, and my lawyer agree!Business response

We have been in contact with *****, she has offered us her two insurance checks and explained she basically doesn't have her out of pocket costs. In order to put this year long issue behind us we accepted. However, we do not agree with the accusations of not returning calls, not working with her adjuster, or being scam artists. An adjusted invoice has been sent out. Thanks for your time with this matter.Initial Complaint

Aloha Construction originally met with me on 4/8/2023. The young claims specialist, ***** arrived to my home to discuss the process of how I would see if I would qualify for a new roof. I informed him that I was not sure if I had hail damage from a recent storm. I informed him that I was not sure of the process since I never had a claim done through my homeowners insurance. He stated that he was still learning but would walk me through what to do. He looked at my roof and took a few pictures and proceeded to tell me that I did have damage and that I should call the insurance company with him present so that he could help answer any questions. He then proceeded to write insurance information on the form and wrote the claim number down and told me to sign it and he would follow up with them. He tore off the duplicate form and placed it in a folder where I did not see that it had any form of writing on the back. I was never informed that this was in any way obligating me to their company. He did not tell me that I had "3 days to cancel". The only thing he said was, "It's our hopes that you use us and not another company". As we continued to progress through the process, we were them informed by ***** that they would put on gutter helmets and wrote that on the same "agreement" form. I then received a text the next day stating that they would not do the gutter helmets due to them being too expensive. I then informed ***** that they are breaking the "agreement" since it was wrote down in the agreement. I informed him that since this broke the agreement and we are opting to not proceed. ***** then stated that if I don't proceed, they would send me a bill despite the fact that no materials or work was ever performed. I have received a bill from them today for $2916.20. I feel that this is very poor business ethic and I do not feel I should pay since they broke the agreement. If this issue is not resolved, I will have no choice but to proceed with legal action.Business response

Ms. ******* signed our agreement on 4/8/23 at that time she was read the terms of our contract verbatim. The terms are clearly written on both the front and back of our contract and were explained. Furthermore, she was also given the consumer rights pamphlet and she signed that as well. So Ms. ********* claim of not being told about here rights is clearly untrue. After meeting with her ins. adjuster to agree on a scope of work, Ms. ******* signed our contact for a second time on 4/30/23 choosing the style and colors of her material. She even committed to paying $1500 for gutters. So her claim of not knowing it was a contract is untrue as well. As for the gutter helmets, Ms. ******* demanded we add gutter helmets to her job at no cost. They are between $6,000-$7000 and there is no where near that in profit on this job.We offered free gutter screens to try and make her happy but she refused. We feel she is trying to use this to get out of a contract knowing the request could not be met. We have a lot of man hours, material ordered, roof measurements ordered and paid for, restocking fees etc... into her project. Ms. ******* signed 3 times over a 3 week span. Contracts are made to protect both parties so there remains two options. One, we move ahead with the project as originally agreed or Two she pays the 15% to cancel the agreement. We would still like to move forward with the project. I have attached both contracts that she signed and dated as well as a copy of her signature on the consumer rights pamphlet.Customer response
06/26/2023
I am rejecting this response because: Aloha Construction is not being truthful. ***** ABSOLUTELY DID NOT READ ANYTHING VERBATIM. If he attempts to say that he did, it is a complete lie. Regardless, Aloha agreed to do the gutter helmets and then backed out. You can CLEARLY see that on the attached form that they attempted to cover up with white out. ***** admitted it was his fault. That is when I informed him that they have broken the contract by agreeing and then backing out of the agreement. No parts were received, or any physical labor performed. Aloha needs to admit that they broke the agreement and both parties move on.

06/29/2023
We can go back and forth over if he read them or not but fact is you signed the agreement two separate times and signed the AG pamphlet that clearly says the same thing. The white out is the gutter job you cancelled, but you know that . As I have said in the past, a lot of time and money has gone into the project. Our stance remains the same.Customer response

They were to replace roofing and siding, roofing was done fine. Siding is poor, used 45 year old original parts. We were not satisfied with quality of work came back to fix and the repair was worse than the original. Siding is not level in several areas. Down spouts on gutters were not properly installed ,one is leaking already. We had gutter guards and extensions they did not replace, we replaced them and paid for them out of pocket. Did not do professional work there was suppose to be Aloha people on job site there were none. Was not given Consumer Rights Form was not given total agreement amounts. ***** ***** is dented and pieced in. Was told windows were out of level in rear of house. Rear of house is out of level which it is not. Siding reveal in back of house going east to west goes from three and a half inches to inch and a quarter was not like that on old siding. Siding on west side of house is unlevel as well . Over all job does not look professional ,looks very shoddy workmanship in our opinion!Business response

Attached is an accurate and detailed timeline of each and every encounter with Mr ********, we believe its pretty clear how hard and successful we were with the entire claim. I am rejecting this response because:
The responses are inaccurate. I was never informed of the total price of the job or the scope of work. I have severe health issues, I am 78 years old and have severe COPD. I have never been informed of what precautions they intend to take to protect my wife and I from the health hazards of asbestos removal.
Aloha claims they tried to contact me several times, however, this is absolutely false. I was only contacted once. ***** left a voice mail informing me that I owe Aloha 15% of the total cost of the job, approximately$5,000.00 for doing nothing. I ask at this point that Aloha provide a breakdown of costs incurred to justify this amount. I have since looked further into Aloha and their business practices. There are numerous complaints made by seniors regarding their treatment of clients and ethics.
Aloha has never presented me with an estimate, scope of work or timeline in regards to replacing my roof.
I would like proof of a business license or bond, including Aloha’s state license number. I would like proof of liability insurance and workers compensation. I also need a business contact including the address, phone number and tax id number for Aloha. Is Aloha actually preforming the work with their own employees or are they subcontracting my job to another organization. I want the job supervisor’s contact information. I want a copy of the warranty and a written proposal with a timeline and specifications including a start and completion date. I refuse to pay any upfront money I will only pay upon completion.Business response
