Aug 2022: Our master bathroom shower was leaking down into the apartment below ours.Sept 2022: The shower was opened up and the walls and wood framing were cleaned by ********************. Parkside referred us to Sterling Builders, who we then hired to rebuild the shower and have it in good working order, as well as redoing the carpet in the master bedroom, and to repaint the master bedroom.Dec 2022 - Apr 2023: After receiving all payments from home insurance, we were told all repairs would be finished in 2 weeks, but Sterling Builders continuously made mistakes leading to multiple leaks; the shower was torn up multiple times and redone between December 2022 and April 2023, when the shower was finally not leaking into the walls. The following issues still remain after April 2023:First, the shower floor and bench are not level, so water is pooling and causing mold. This fix is estimated to cost $5867 according to a third party assessment.Second, the glass shower door/walls are not installed correctly, leading to water leaking out onto the bathroom floor outside of the shower. Third, the bed's headboard has been loose since the bed was moved around for carpet installation, and we found part of the bedframe is broken and was unsuccessfully patched. We believe the carpet guys tried to move the bed by pulling on the headboard forcefully enough to break it. This bed frame costs $1600 to fully replace. We do not want Sterling Builders handling the repairs on these issues/damages, however, and we only request the account and contract be closed and the cost of shower repairs be refunded, so we may hire another contractor to properly fix our shower.I've attached the final repair estimate received from Sterling Builders(FINAL_DRAFT_CON.pdf) and the shower repair estimate from a third party, Mr ********************* The refund we have requested is the third party estimate to fix the shower $5,867.00 - the remainder we owe Sterling Builders $4,089.09 = $1,777.91.

Sterling Builders has been in contact with ************** to come back and fix the shower to his satisfaction but ************** does not want us to come back, therefore, we did credit him $5,600.00 toward his insurance claim to have the repairs redone by another contractor.  I've attached a photo of the broken bed frame, which the carpet installers took before the carpet installation, to make sure they were not blamed for the broken bed frame.   We will try to contact ************** again before the end of this week to put this to a final conclusion.

      Complaint: 20722061

I am rejecting this response because:

After 4 months of attempts by Sterling Builders to repair a shower that was originally scheduled to be fixed in 2 weeks, between December 2023 and April ****, of course I do not have the patience to continue to allow them further opportunities to work on my shower, with the risk of further mistakes and repair issues.

The shower fix is estimated to cost $5867 according to a third party assessment(attached in my complaint as the file named Portal.pdf), and I have not received that amount or the $5600 amount noted in the message from Sterling Builders. I have only been in contact with them and been offered lesser amounts that would not cover my repair costs; being offered between $4800 and $5200.

As for the bed frame damage, I was not previously shown the picture that is being shared here, nor was I notified of the state of the bed frame before or after the carpet installation by any contractors, even while being home during the installation. Due to not seeing a time stamp on the picture and the other issues I've had with Sterling Builders, I do not trust the communication about the bed frame being damaged before the carpeting was installed.

      Sincerely,

      *******************

We are very unhappy that we ever had Sterling Builders work in our home. I would recommend going with another company.Sterling builders came and re-sanded our hardwood floors, replaced trim and did our stair case. Not one of those jobs turned out well. The owner **** ********************** did a a walkthrough (7/6/2023) and said were being very critical. Seeing fresh paint from the trim on the floor they just finished and on our new French doors that were installed in the fall downstairs doesn't seem like Im being unreasonable. The company lacks any attention to detail and also doesnt stand behind their work. **** **********************s answer was just to deal with it and thats it not furniture. There will always be some imperfections but this company doesnt know good work when they see it. I hope this doesnt happen to anyone elses home.

We did a walk through with the homeowner regarding the repairs completed and he showed us what he was unhappy with.  We were in agreement with him to fix the problem areas.   We will schedule a time to come back and complete the work.

I am rejecting this response because:
After they installed the new door I called them out again because the door was hitting the side when I shut it, the technician said to me I am shutting the door to hard funny the defective door did not do that? I am NOT satisfied at all if they an ounce of integrity I would ask to have someone fix it, but apparently I dont know what Im talking about, I want $200 refund and inspection most of all I want these clowns to stop wasting my time, and my energy, my family is paying price for the stress caused by this,

      Sincerely,

In spite of the fact that Sterling Builders is giving the client a new door because of the manufacturer defect on the previous installed door, we will agree to pay the client the $200.00 he is asking for.   We would also ask that he withdraw the complaint to the BBB.

I am rejecting this response because:

My apologies for the late reply, I had a medical procedure and am back in action. I am not sure where we are with this, I was under the impression that I would receive the requested $200, and I have not received it.
