On October 2, 2022 this business came to my home to tear out a cracked concrete porch step and replace it. The men doing the work poured concrete on top of existing step instead of tearing out/replacing. I called the ********** said they made a mistake but promised that the job would be done well with no problems despite this error. We agreed to the price of $600 and I paid the owner via Zelle pay that day. Once the job was done the sides of the step were crumbly, the cement was not applied smooth and clumps of it were left on the sides/ground. We called & asked him to come out and take a look at the job, & to fix it. He agreed he would do so but then never showed up. We called & text him on multiple occasions asking him to come back and fix the work and each time he would agree to come out and then no call/no show that day. He had many excuses, he was sick, he had no men to work for him, he was with his family. Finally, after about 4 weeks he came out and attempted to fix the job. The next day it rained and part of the concrete chipped and crumbled. He blamed the rain and said he would come back on the weekend to fix it. No call/no show again. When we reached out to him, he said that the weather is now too cold/wet to fix the step and he cannot come back until Spring. He had 6 weeks to fix this job and never did. I requested he refund back half of my money, $300, as this job was not completed as promised and now it is winter. The coming weather will likely further crack/crumble the step and we never agreed to having this job done halfway, with the balance next Spring. He offered to refund just $100 & void his 1 year warranty. That will not help as the job is not complete and $100 does not fix the step. I've reached out to other concrete companies for 2nd opinion and they agree the job was not done correctly and they cannot repair what he did, they would need to tear the step out and start over. I'd like my money back in full at this point.
