On Friday I parked my car and was meeting a friend someone anonymously reported my car. The towing company showed up and towed my car for no reason then they started arguing with me. I paid them 450 dollars to release my car and I asked for a receipt and they would not give it to me. They took the money and gave me no documentation. I called them again and asked for documents and a receipt. They again refused and now they are telling that have no documentation or any record of the transaction I made with them. I have the entire phone conversation I had with them recorded. They need to provide me with the information I am asking for immediately.Business response

Me and my husband car was towed on 01/29/2023 at 12:45AM After midnight of 01/28/2023. it was parked on a parking lot that i didnt no was private property. Tried to get my car back right away and the guy whom was driving the tow truck told me that i had to wait until after 9am this morning when they opened and it was a $500.00 fee which is very excessive. When i called i spoke to a man whom was very rude i ask for his name he told me right away towing and refused to provide his name he stated that me knowning his name wasnt important. i ask why the fee was so much and do they charge what they want and he said if that what i want to think he never gave a straight answer. i continued to try to get answers and he hung up which i then called back and explain that his customer service was terrible. Then he stated that the fee was 350.00 i asked why i was charged 500.00 he stated becasue they charged for storage for sat sun and mon i ask how can he do that when he had my car less than 24 hrs he continued to be rude i ask how can i file a complaint he told me to google because he didnt know. i had no problem paying for tow fees because i was in the wrong but to be charged that amount and then when i researched tow fee in illinois it say 150.00 and 20 -35 per day nothing about 500.00 and even on the right away website does it state fees. i am wanting an apology for the rudeness and my money back. I will advise no one to use this company due the workers dont know how to handle business properly nor do they have listed fees so the cujstomer will no exactly what to pay.Business response

On March 2nd 2022, I called this company to tow my vehicle, the tow truck driver said I could **** *** him payment but gave me the wrong account information, then he said he has a master mechanic that could fix my clutch, I paid them $1050.00 to repair my clutch, then they called and said it was my transmission. I did not previously have any transmission issues with my vehicle so I took it to another shop to get a second opinion and was told by that mechanic that my clutch had not been replaced.Customer response

We towed the car and the shop next door worked on it. We never fixed her clutch. The tow and the repair were on the same invoice.Initial Complaint

My car had an issue. I called my extended warranty company and they got me a tow by RITE AWAY TOWING AND HAULING LLC in Granite City, IL. They came to the residence where my car stopped to take it to the dealership. Upon arrival I asked for a receipt as to why I’m paying $45 extra than the $250 my warranty paid for. They could not produce a receipt. He asked for the money I told him when I receive an invoice on what I’m paying for I will pay him. He said he’s not giving a receipt and he pulled off with my car instead of dropping it. I called the number they gave me (**********) to see what’s the issue and why he took my car without my permission and the manager told me “well you can take that up with yoself you wanna play crazy” then he hung up on me. They then proceeded to charge me to get my vehicle back as they took it without my permission. The owner or manager then proceeded to curse at us for asking for a receipt on the 2nd attempt to pay for the car. He said he would give me a receipt but then come back to say they can’t give me a receipt until Monday but they made me pay for my vehicle to be released from the tow yard. It never should have been at Rite Away towing and hauling it was supposed to be going to ******** **** in Florissant Missouri. So I am out of $175 and no receipt. For a 13 mile tow they cannot say why they charged $295.Business response

This is concerning a complaint on 1/22/2022. I have attached the dispatch order to this email for your reference. I was contacted for this job and explained my price to the dispatcher on the phone which was only $250 total $205 from motor club & $45 from member. And this was all agreed upon before hand and was sent to the member in a email.So a Driver was dispatched to this call loaded the vehicle. The drive then asked for payment and the member (refused to pay)at that point the driver was told to impound the member vehicle. And there was a impound fee added.
