On 8-25-2023 we contracted with Lake of Egypt Docks to build and install a new dock on our private lake in *********, ***The dock was installed in October of 2023 and the last payment for a total of $31313.00 was made at that time. The construction and appearance of the dock looked satisfactory on completion. Using the dock in 2024 we noticed the fascia board on the insides of the dock pulling away from the frame (see picture). I called the installer (*******) who told me to put more screws in it, but as you can see by the picture the warped area was too large to pull back and it will need to be cut or removed and replaced. I will do myself. In July of 2024 we noticed the wood deck that the gangway rested on was sagging at the steps (see picture). The installer had chosen to rest the gangway, including 1200 pounds of concrete tiles, on part of the deck that was not resting on the ground, but was still connected to the deck, causing the deck to sag at the steps. When notified, ******* said I told him to mount it that way and I was further notified by "****" that any repair would be at my expense. The question at construction was do you want the gangway close to the deck and ,of course, we did, but without deck damage. Removing the tiles from the gangway, I saw that the float used under the gangway was too short and the installer had attempted to "make it work" by securing it with a piece of angle that broke loose, causing one end of the float to no longer support the gangway. This contributed to the deck failure. (see picture)The installer offered to install a float free, but I would have to pay for the float.Based on their performance, I can't trust them working on this dock again. Pouring piers in the lake, leveling the deck, installing 4x4 supports and anchoring the float properly will cost me $263.93 of plus a $1000.00 of my time and Lake of Egypt should reimburse me. The dock was warranted for 1 year. Installation evidently was not covered.

We never received this complaint from BBB - This is the first time i have seen this.

We have received the complaint from the customer - Customer asked us to set the ramp on the wooden platform, we did not and would have not made that decision and after several attempts explaining to him how heavy the ramp was, he still asked us to set the ramp on the wooden platform. When he called us to discuss what was going on we offered our help, and our help was installing a float under the walkway to relieve pressure on the wooden platform. We offered free transportation of our employees, free labor and all he was entitled to pay for was the float as he indicates on this complaint. He hung up on us as he was saying that he would have it fixed himself.

We would still help the customer with his bad decision to set the ramp on the wooden platform with zero transportation and labor cost and only the cost of the float. This problem is not a warranty issue on the dock it is a problem with a customer's decision to place a walkway on a wooden platform.

Please advise if customer would like to pay for the float to fix the problem.
