I adopted a rehome toy poodle from Carousel Pups and Doodles Rockford ** November 18th 2023. I have text messages from owner ***************************** 11-15-23 stating she guaranteed her to be healthy if not I can take her to the vet of my choice, or she would refund the purchase price of $795.00 or replace her. When requested she did not provide the previous owner name or vet records. The dog originally k***n as Angel *** renamed ***** started throwing up the evening of November 19. I texted ****** on ***** to let her k*** she was diagnosed by ************************** with a parasite Giardia. She responded it was easy to catch and she could have gotten it anywhere. I confirmed with my vet she didnt just catch this in the last 48 hours. ****** didnt offer to take responsibility. I was not familiar with ******* and how difficult it can be to get rid of and the cost. When she had to have multiple treatments, I sent Carousel Pups and Doodles a letter 3-2 asking she reimburse me for the original treatment of $299.38 and provided the vet bill and advised I would cover the second and any additional treatments needed. I contacted her on 3-13, 4-4 and heard back from her 4-16 saying she didnt feel she should have to take responsibility since she didnt k*** the dog was sick. She had taken ***** ******* back from the original owner and didnt k*** if she had it then. After saying I could take her to the vet of my choice she said she shouldnt have to pay for the visit cost or what they charged me for some of the medication. She offered $100.00 which barely covers the two ***** tests which are required for the dog to be confirmed negative. I feel it is fair for her to cover the original vet visit $299.38 since it was 2 days after I adopted *********** that she was diagnosed with Giardia.
