Been with Wintrust since 2020 and always raved about them, but in retrospect havent really had much cause to interact at all. $20000 cashiers check from a major reputable bank deposited by myself into my account in person on October 25th. With no explanation as to why, when I asked, they will not release the funds into my account until November 1st. Avoid this bank at all costs. I am selling a condo and was planning on depositing $100K in there on Nov 8th but h*** no - it is beyond obvious they are holding onto the funds so they can earn interest and I am genuinely tempted to initiate legal action but Im sure their fine print covers them. Am 100% ditching this account next month. Cashiers checks are intended to provide extra security and this was treated like a personal check I deposited over my phone. Unbelievable. As if anyone has the means to sit back and wait for cash to flow. A bank above all should know this.Review from Elnora D

Horrible bank! In regrets of referring many of my fellow business colleagues here. Horrible bankers, liars doing unlawful business. Worked with ******* and ****** at the ********* location. Cant say much due to legal proceedings. Dont do business banking with town bank.Review from Jan R

I paid my Lake ****************** bill here and they never sent my money to the Lake County Collector. Now I owe a penalty. I never had this problem with ************* I've owned homes since 1973 and have never missed a tax payment. I don't even know where my money is.Beware, don't pay any taxes here in ************. I hope to recover my money plus the penalty or I will file a court claim.Wintrust Financial Corporation Response

Wish there was a ZERO stars option. Ive been banking for 40 years and have NEVER been treated so horribly as we have by the branch at E.Main St/Foxfield in St. *******. My entire family banks here several accounts and we have ALL be treated with such disdain, ****************************** its almost unheard of. The branch assistant manager is the worst. We literally go to another town now to a different branch because of the gross incompetence and lack of respect of almost all of the staff at this branch. Not to mention that simple transactions here take ridiculous amounts of time and are full of errors. We will be changing banks soon and sharing our experience to save others the ***************** We have multiple businesses and were considering moving all of our commercial accounts here initially NEVER will that happen. Corporate really should consider all of these horrible reviews and take some action before the business shutters. Terrible, terrible business and staff.Review from Adewale B

When have you ever heard of a company giving you a loan and you not knowing you took out a loan? That is what you get when reading with this company. My insurance cancelled and I got hit with a huge bill from this loan company for insurance that I did not use. I had no idea I had a loan with this company. They run a scam with insurance companies to sign up for insurance not knowing that in the fine print you are signing up for a loan from them. It is extremely misleading and a shady way to do business. I would not recommend this company to anyone.Wintrust Financial Corporation Response

I am a 30 year customer of ************** and I never had a problem before the past month, but it's been such a horrible experience that I would never again recommend that anyone bank with them. The local branch made an error which has now led to the central office blocking me from withdrawing $15000 that I have on deposit for two weeks with no end in sight. The local branch staff understand that I should be able to withdraw my money but they don't seem to be able to help. Meanwhile, who gets to accrue interest on these funds?Wintrust Financial Corporation Response

Wintrust has unnecessarily delayed the loan assumption process, leading to my inability to contract for the sale of a new home because I cant get Wintrust to submit the assumption packet nor can I get an actual estimated timeline for closing on the sale of my home which is the subject of the loan assumption through Wintrust. *** submitted a complaint to the **** and the ******** of ******* for the state of ******** for the following reasons:I am trying to sell my home that has a VA loan through an assumption with a fellow VA eligible buyer. Wintrust Mortgage is who I have my VA loan through currently. Wintrust received the loan assumption packet in its entirety on Oct 9, 2023. Wintrust failed to notify either me or the buyer that they needed additional documentation and therefore the packet sat without any action for two weeks. I began calling Wintrust every day on Oct 23, 2023 to get updates on the packet so that I can let the buyer know what information Wintrust needs. Wintrust refuses to provide a single point of contact that will confirm receipt of requested documents and Wintrust refuses to contact me or the buyer when documents are missing, which is why I must call every day. So far, Wintrust has delayed the assumption process by 3 weeks simply because they REFUSE to notify the buyers of missing information and because we dont have a single point of contact to verify documents. Wintrust also refuse to provide any transparency regarding the loan assumption process but continually claims the process takes 3-6 MONTHS! So far, I cant even get the assumption packet submitted to the origination office because of the arbitrary delays Wintrust has caused through lack of communication with the buyer and me.The only cause of delay in this process so far has been Wintrusts negligence or ineptitude or laziness to provide a point of contact or communicate with either party.Wintrust Financial Corporation Response
