Sept. 2023 I brought to the Junction City boards attention that our water bill has been $49.09 for a few months since they changed the water meters & I didn't want to be hit with a huge back bill. Every board member including the water company agreed that because of my honesty we wouldn't be, & they would try to resolve the issue. Oct. 2023 board meeting they said they found the problem, & that our meter number was switched with our neighbor's across the street. An elderly neighbor **** S. retired on a fixed income who is now staying across town w/ her daughter ***** ****. I asked the mayor **** ********** in the meeting if they were going to pay her back the difference between ****'s water bill & ours since he said we wouldn't be held responsible for a huge back payment in September? He said if I were you I wouldn't say anything or it will be you paying her back. To me that sounded just like blackmail. If I told her the Junction City board, Junction City Utilities company & Consolidated water (all wrapped up in each meeting) was going to rip her off because of their mistake, then I have to pay for their mistake. I did in fact tell ****'s granddaughter ***** because it wasn't fair that they want to rip her off. Nov. board meeting they were upset that I informed ****, so they told me I am responsible for paying the difference now. I reminded them of what was said in September & the mayor **** said he was joking about me not having to pay it. 2 days ago we get a bill with that back amount on it w/ the words DISCONNECT on it. we were told we wouldn't be held responsible it wasn't our mistake they should reimburse **** they should eat the loss they created they are going to disconnect us over their mistake when my husband lives with a 10-20% chance of survival with severe heart conditions because they screwed up. it's blackmail. Just because I was honest and told the neighbor I'm forced to pay their mistake like the mayor said if I told her they ripped her off.Business response

We have attempted to work with both parties involved. As we have been threatened with legal action we have no further comment at this time.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
Never was it stated in a meeting that there was legal action.However, two board members also directed us to seek legal action because they thought it wasn't fair. If those board members brought it to the other board members outside of a board meeting then it would violate OAM.

The City accidentally swapped a water meter between my grandmothers home and the neighbor's home resulting in her being over charged and paying the incorrect water bill for almost a year. She is also being billed for an additional trash can that was never there. Once they discovered the mistake the mayor asked the city board member (her neighbor) to not tell us or she would be responsible for the difference. The board member then called me to tell me about the fraud. The invoices have since been altered. The city is blaming the water company and no one is willing to compensate the correct amount. I have our correspondences saved via facebook.Business response
