Patrick Hyundai in Schaumburg ** sold me a complete lemon! The vehicle I purchased has a bad engine which had a recall at one time, which supposedly is now a lifetime warranty on the engine wish me luck with that! This vehicle is a ******** 2.0 turbo. They did not disclose the information So now Im stuck with a bad engine! The vehicle has been using an unbelievable amount of oil since I purchased it!!It also had a film on the rear bumper and windshield! Possibly from bad exhaust Buyer beware The vehicle I went to purchase originally had a dent in the tail gait so I got even luckier and got this oneNOT The manager also offered me $200 for the dent so when the estimate To fix it was **** I declined the vehiclePatrick Hyundai Response

BAIT and SWITCH! I found a vehicle online at Patrick Hyundai. I called this morning to confirm the vehicle was in stock and CONFIRM the price. I spoke with ******* who confirmed the price over the phone and made me an appointment for that same day. My husband left work early, I picked up my daughter from school, and drove 45 minutes to my appointment. We met with *** the salesman who let us test drive the car, and we decided to move ahead with the sale. The proceeded to run my husbands credit, and AFTER they ran his credit, they told us the vehicle was actually $7000 more than they told us. $7000! This is criminal business practice. They should be held liable. We wasted hours of our time and now have additional inquiries on our credit during a time we are car rate shopping. He did offer a significantly reduced amount off what the actual market value was and in good faith gave you a full tank a gas on your current vehicle. Patrick Hyundai will hound you relentlessly to get you to sell your used car. But when you call with a question for service, no one bothers to call back. *** left messages with a live person and on a voicemail, yet never received a call back. I had my truck at their service center for 8 months waiting on an engine. I finally picked my truck up 10/6/22. I took my truck back to them on 10/7/22 with several issues. The engine cover was cracked in two different places, my breaks were grinding, someone tried to pry into my front passenger door, right fender damage, car was filthy from sitting for 8 months and underneath my hood had oil and antifreeze spilled and not cleaned up. I was told by ***************** they would keep my car and correct the issues. I went to pick up my vehicle 10/15/22 and spoke with the service manager ***. Nothing was fixed. I reached out to Hyundai *** the following Monday about my concerns. I also noticed my backup camera no longer works and has a blue screen, a hole in my driver's seat and my seat belt warning doesn't work anymore. 10/24/22 my vehicle stopped on me, and a service message appeared on my screen. I was able to speak with the *************** today 10/25/22 to advise of the issue I was now having with my vehicle after they've had it for 8 months and a new engine. He advised me they would be happy to look at my vehicle only if I took down my yelp review because it was giving the dealership a bad rep. I told him I wouldn't take it down because that was my honest experience with their service ***** He got upset and the call ended with me telling him I will contact an attorney since he's trying to blackmail me in order to get my issue looked at.Patrick Hyundai Response

A second apology for the engine replacement taking as long as it did, unfortunately we are still dealing with delays related to the pandemic. In good faith, we did replace the engine cover, made repairs to the passenger door, finder and inspected the brakes, however, were unable to find any abnormal issues that would require repairs covered under warranty. As mentioned, your review and feedback is an important resource for improving and addressing the needs and wants of our customers and we do sometimes ask consumers to remove or update their feedback if we feel weve helped resolve the issues that led to the negative feedback. We inquired about purchasing a used 2020 Hyundai ********. Listed price was $31,488. After asking about the car and informing the salesman we would pay cash, we were provided a quote which included over $2,500 of additional options (tire, rim, key fob warranty). I asked to remove them- would pay $31,488 cash. I was told they couldn't accept the offer because they were taking a loss on the vehicle. This is a misleading advertisement- the listed price was NOT a price they would accept. We will not be working with Patrick Hyundai. They lost a potential customer. Extremely shady sales tactics. My original review is over ***** characters but Im only allowed ***** here. ***** isnt enough to adequately describe just how horrible the car buying experience was from Patrick Hyundai. We were extorted an additional $1,500 for optional accessories that werent optional (they wouldnt remove them when we asked), they forced us to sign paperwork stating that the accessories were optional and that we agreed to buy them but we were also told that the paperwork was mandatory to sign if we wanted to buy the car, the financing offered on their website and via email communication prior to going into the dealership, as well as the financing offer we qualified for was ****%, but they later reneged on this and told us they would only offer us ****%. And to top it all off, they sold us a brand new car that they failed to find a safety defect in. My wife found the defect right before we were about to drive the car off the lot. So they extorted us, forced us to sign paperwork that falsely reflected the shady practices, falsely advertised financing and lied about the financing via email communication, and then sold us a defective car which we couldnt even drive off the lot after paying for it.And they told us several times that they werent forcing us to buy the car and that they would sell it to someone else later that day. They dont care about the customers. They dont care about you.I strongly urge you to avoid this dealerthey do not deserve your business.Patrick Hyundai Response

Good Afternoon ***********,My name is *******************, and I am the General Sales Manager at Patrick Hyundai. I have received your complaint on BBB. I do apologize for your experience and understand your frustration. The side view mirror being damaged from the transportation is a terrible thing and I am sorry that it happened at all and that it wasnt caught sooner. From my understanding though, we ordered the mirror and fixed the issue at the earliest time possible based on parts availability. I do understand that it would taint your overall experience. Your review however does have some aspects that are completely out of our control, and others that are incorrect, or at the very least miscommunicated. The mirror issue was not a stop sale safety issue, and you could have driven the vehicle off the lot with the repair stated in writing, once the part came in and was painted. The addendum on the vehicle for the $1,497 was fully disclosed when the vehicle was ordered and is still the lowest addendum in the Chicagoland area on a Tucson Hybrid. Most other dealers are charging a market adjustment on all Hybrids do to availability and gas prices. To me, those are the dealers that are doing poor business practices. We are at least offering value and products with our less costly addendum. As for the rate changing, that is another issue that we have no control over. The rates for the Low APR program come from Hyundai Motor Finance, and are affected by the cost of money overall, which I am sure you are aware that the *************** has been raising rates all year. This was another aspect of the deal that was disclosed at time of deposit, as the vehicle wouldnt be delivered in the same month under the programs that were active at the time. Like every dealer, we are subject to rates available at time of sale. We do care about our customers and always try to do the right thing when issues arise. I can appreciate the frustration with the mirror issue, and I am sorry for the wait to get that resolved. As for the rest, I do believe that using terms like extortion, and saying that we dont care about our customers is taking it the extreme, and incorrect. I do hope that your remaining ownership experience is a pleasant one and that the Tucson Hybrid fits your wants and needs. I had my 2022 Tucson Hybrid serviced here at the end of March. I brought in my ****** in for it's 1st "complimentary service" well I wish I would have taken elsewhere and if you came here to get you "complimentary service" done here you will want to read this and take action as I had to here.After gutting my vehicle back, I was reading the service order and read that 5w30 oil was used instead of the required 0w20 that is stated on the oil cap and user manual. I told the service writer of the mistake and he brought out the service person in charge of the techs, and told me that "Hyundai does not pay us to put 0w20 oil in complimentary service, so we use 5w30". I was shocked at the admission, and told me that they would gladly drain the oil and have me pay for the correct 0w20 oil that is required otherwise they could not do anything about it. I informed of my displeasure and that I would take it up with Hyundai ***************** so that I did. On my drive home I contacted Hyundai about what happened and opened a complained case against the dealership for improper service done to my vehicle.After HCS contacting several dealerships regarding this issue with my concerns (including Patrick Hyundai), I was contacted by Patrick Hyundai's Service Manager, ******************* regarding my concerns with the way my vehicle was serviced and what was apparently was done wrong, as he agreed that they messed up and to bring in my vehicle to put correct oil in it.Just last week 4/20/2022 took my vehicle back into Patrick Hyundai to re-do the oil change with correct oil 0w20. Be warned if you have gotten "complimentary service" done here please look at your work order it will state what weight oil was used, verify that the correct one was used if not please call Hyundai **************** and state your concerns. Gave this one star because I had to! I own a 2021 Hyundai Kona **** miles, the check engine light when on and car sputtered and ran rough, I called the dealer I purchased it from they said don't drive it call the Hyundai roadside service and they will tow it to the nearest Hyundai dealer Patrick Hyundai. Tow driver picked my car up at 2:30pm on 2/14/22 and dropped it at Patrick at 3:00pm parked it in the first row and walked in and gave the keys to the service desk, service person asked for my name and # and he gave it to them. I did not hear anything and called on 2/15/22 in the AM. *** told me my car was NOT THERE and he had 1,000's of cars on the lot and did not have time to look for it they were busy He was very short and rude on the phone. *** called back about an hour later and said they found the car but did not have the keys he said none of the service guys took any keys, he then called back later and they found the keys on the service managers desk, but they did not know how they got there. After this he was nicer and said they would like at my car to see the issue and if I needed any other services. I did not here back form them and I called on the morning of 2/16/22 and he told me the issue (2 Ignition coils) and the car was finished and I could pick it up. I picked it up at about 5:15pm and as I drove it off the lot I noticed they left me with gas for 1 mile to empty ( I had almost a half tank when it was brought in) Receipt say they drove it for 20 miles to test yet my car had almost 60 extra miles from when I dropped it off. The was the worst Service experience I have had in my 45years of owning cars. If my car needs to be towed again it will not get towed to Patrick I will pay extra to tow it to my dealership.Patrick Hyundai Response

They double dealed AFTER SIGNING AND TAKING A DEPOSIT.I went to the dealer and sincerely negotiated a price for a car. We agreed to the price of the car and the trade in, SIGNED A CONTRACT AND EVEN PUT DOWN A DEPOSIT. They had to have the car prepped and inspected, so a few days later I was on my way to trade the cars and finish the paperwork and THEY THEN CALL ME BACK AND CHANGE THE ***** OF THE DEAL BY $6,000!!! The excuse was a BS, "we made a mistake and gave you too good of a price". What is the point of a negotiation if the price i literally signed an agreement on and put a deposit on is not worth anything.I have done hundreds of negotiations in my life, but I have never dealt with a more dishonest institution. I live in the area and in the past purchased 2 cars from Patrick and recommended many friends to do the same. I would now highly recommend against dealing with Patrick.Patrick Hyundai Response
