We have an American Home Shield (AHS) Warranty plan. Their contractor is At Your Service Heating & Cooling. Last month our furnace broke and a replace is needed. We had a second opinion to confirm total replacement. AHS approved the replacement, haul away and labor for the furnace job, but advised we had have to pay an additional $5100.00 per the contractor's estimate, but the itemized estimate was not provided to AHS who advised to get ahold of At Your Service for the itemized estimate of charges. It took almost a week before they responded, but they provided the estimate of charges (attached). They were charging for material that was unnecessary. We confirmed with our second opinion company that NONE of the materials listed were needed to replace and install a new furnace. They believed that the company was scamming to make more money from what they stood to gain with AHS. We have placed several calls to At Your Service after getting the estimate to advise that those materials were not needed and still would like the job completed. However, at this point we don't want them to do, because if they are this neglectful in responding to numerous phone calls and messages we have placed, are upcharging for things not needed, I simply can't imagine a good repair job. We have had no heat since mid February!!! We don't have $4900.00 to do the repair ourselves, so I guess we stay cold. Meanwhile we have been in contact with the warranty company who states that they can do nothing about it and offered only $740.00 as a cash pay out (only to be received once we hire and pay out of pocket to another company). They DO have an option for us to get a 2nd opinion with another one of their contractors, but then we would have to pay another $100.00, which to me is grossly unfair because the first contractor can't even call us back or even provide a correct estimate! it should also be noted that they have the wrong kind of furnace listed, another reason for them not to install.Business response
