This is a complaint about the service that I have not been receiving from Lake Marine. Last April I brought a outboard motor in because it wasn't running. It took them 4 months to rebuild the carburetor and I picked it up in August of 2023. When I took it out of storage this April I went to try to start it and gasoline was leaking out of the carburetor. I immediately took it back to ****************************************************** and the owner said they would look at it the next day. I have repeatedly called and visited the store to get some answers and was constantly lied to about the status of the repair workBusiness response

We have looked at the motor and determined the issue is not related to the specific work we did but an Oring in the fuel system. We are in the process of repairing that and believe that will resolve the issueCustomer response

I purchased a brand new boat and trailer from Lake Marine on 5/27/23 for $31,194.84 cash. Since then my temporary license plates have expired and I have not received the title for the boat or the title for the trailer. The *** told me the paperwork was never filed by the business. I've been in contact with ***************************, business owner, consistently over the last few months and he keeps saying he is "working on it". Meanwhile, my license plates for the boat trailer expired on 8/25/23 so I can no longer legally drive the boat. I don't have the title for either the boat or the trailer.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:as much as I would like to believe that the business is working in good faith to rectify the situation, they have been telling me this for months and I have yet to see any action. I have not seen any evidence that efforts are in progress or any progress has been made toward resolution. As I said in my original complaint, the business continually tells me theyre working on it. Thats the same thing I see here, theyre working on it.
Yesterday they gave me a NEW reason as to why this has been outstanding for months via their attorney. While I would like to believe that this attorney is taking action to fix it, its still just more empty promises from the business until I see evidence otherwise.

I am rejecting this response because:The business has simply found another way to say "we're working on it" which is what they have effectively been saying since the problem arose months ago. As I've said before, I'd love to believe that they are, but they shown me nothing and the problem still is not solved. I still have a brand new boat and trailer that I paid cash for that I um unable to legally operate.

I picked up my boat and trailer from you on April 23, 2022. I have not stored anything with you since that date. You have been taking money from my checking account - $55/month - since then. From 4/29-12/28 I need to be reimbursed and these ACH charges need to stop. I spoke to a woman on the phone last September and she said she was going to reverse them, but this never happened. I spoke to ****, the owner, in March and he said he was going to send a check, but that never happened. Can you have this addressed as soon as possible? You have taken $495 from my checking account that was not authorized. This is the equivalent of theft and needs to be rectified or I'll keep escalating it until it is resolved.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:No money has been returned to me as of 4/18/23. Last time I spoke to the owner, ****, he admitted the staffing was an issue last year and acknowledged the mistakes were made. He told me they simply don't have the cash to return the money they gave me. He did agree to send me a check, which he never confirmed was sent and I have not received. I know they have revenue coming in. I've referred many people to his business over the years. Taking money out of my bank account with no services rendered or authorization and refusing to return it is theft. I've given the business numerous chances to make this right and simply correct the mistake, but now he's blatantly lying about the situation.

***** and I spoke, While there were some disputes that I let go through he explained to me that he felt that there was still money owed.
I agreed with him and he plans to come in to pick up a check.
He has not as of et stopped by, but I am prepared to refund him and move on

My new 2020 RPod camping trailer was picked up by, and taken to, Lake Marine & RV (LM) on 9/14/2020 for repair. 2/21 status check, my husband (now deceased) was informed the repairs were finished but LM needed an additional $100 which he paid. 4/17/21-went to pick up the trailer, ***** (LM) said it was not done and needed fiberglass work. I made multiple calls and left messages May/June 2021-no response from LM. 7/10/21 my daughter, son-in-law and myself went to LM to speak to the owner, ****, directly. He disclosed my deductible was received, the Ins. money was received and deposited in 10/2020, & LM proceeded to close out the repair ticket as finished, leaving trailer outside, unrepaired. **** promised to start repairs 7/14/21 7/19/21, repairs not started, **** stated that LM had other priorities to handle. 8/24/21 trailer moved to shop for repairs. 9/9/21 my lawyer sent letter to LM. Sienna (LM) called my attny, requested 9/24/21 deadline. We agreed. 9/24/21 (day 375) - trailer not finished. **** said he "would rather fix it right than fast." 10/12/21 **** called - repairs were finished except for the refrigerator door panel, which was on order, and that LM would winterize the camper at no charge since they dewinterized it to check the plumbing. 10/27/2021 repairs not finished - **** stated he had more important jobs to do such as winterize boats. 10/29/2021 I took my son-in-law, daughter & 2 **************** Officers with me to LM. LM refused to release the trailer until I signed a form stating the trailer was 100% complete with IOU for fridge trim. I refused as I could not trust that the trailer was fixed completely/properly. LM then wanted me to sign stating I refuse to sign. I refused. Officers informed Sienna (LM) that she would be arrested for the possession of stolen property, a felony, if the trailer wasnt released immediately. Day 410 I got possession, repairs are not done completely/properly. Day 479 and still not completed by LM.Business response

The pictures that are attached by the client are misleading as they are pictures before the work started, not the completed job.
We have attached screen shots of videos we took inside and outside the unit. BBB will not allow video files to be uploaded into this complaint response. They show the entire unit inside and out.
As for the refrigerator trim kit and the install of that kit our plan was to not to charge them for any of that due to the time we took to complete the job as a courtesy so there really is nothing to refund there when nothing was charged to the invoice for this. I have attached the invoice and you will notice a line item with a cost of $124.95 with a long list of thing that need attention. That was the fee to do a quote, not an actual work order line.
The trim kit came in yesterday and we are more than happy to give that to them for free or install it for free. If they bring their trailer back to us we would install the panel and trim kit the same day they drop it off if that is before 10 AM.
We have ordered a replacement key set, I do not think that has come in yet, and we were not certain if a key set was given to us, however it was not worth fighting over so we ordered a set and will supply that free to them as well.
We feel this answers this complaint fully.

I am rejecting this response because:I filed a complaint against Lake Marine & RV. I read their response and they are claiming the pictures I included were taken prior to their repair. That is false. The pictures were taken after I took back possession of my property. I can provide screen shots showing the date the pictures were taken. I dont feel this company should get away with more deceit.

Furthermore they are asking in a complaint with the Attorney General that we take responsibility and recourse for everything electrical and mechanically in the entire trailer, which we were never contracted to repair.
We were hired to repair the damaged roof, replace the *** fix the inside paneling that was damage, and reapply the refrigerator panel, which we did entirely, with the exception of the panel as a trim kit was needed to install it that was not known was needed.
We provided them that $75.00 refrigerator panel trim kit at no cost and removed the line item to install it as we agreed to do it all for free, which they declined. They are in possession of the trim kit.
The road skirt was reattached, which they have clearly removed to look at the frame. That is not the way it left and we have pictures and video to prove that fact. BBB would not allow videos however we included screen shots in the original answer to the complaint which prove the condition it left in.We did what we were hired to do plain and simple.
They were upset because our quote did not total it. We informed State Farm that the clients daughter threatened me that the quote had better total the unit or we would never hear the end of this and they are clearly proving that fact. We do not participate in insurance fraud and can produce an affidavit from the State Farm rep they were informed of what we were asked to do by the client to protect ourselves.There were witnesses in the hallway to the conversation that would be willing to testify to that fact and cameras footage to prove the conversation occurred.
We will not commit to things working we were not hired to repair plain and simple.
