    BBB files indicate that this business has a pattern of complaint. Specifically, consumers allege that the business engages in the following:

    • Makes misleading verbal and written representations relating to the material conditions and safety of vehicles for sale. Consumers allege that shortly after purchasing vehicles from Auto Nerd warning lights in the vehicles appear and mechanical failures occur. Consumers state that further inspection of vehicles by third-party mechanics identify numerous issues.
    • Does not respond in a timely manner to consumer requests for refunds, repairs, and returns of down payments.

    On March 28, 2019 BBB sent a letter informing the business of the pattern of complaint and requesting their participation in addressing consumer concerns. On July 17, 2019, the business provided the following response:

    "AutoNerd sells high value/low cost automobiles. All vehicles are inspected prior to the sale and necessary repairs are made.  Customers test drive the cars and a CarFax is provided.  However, things go wrong with used, inexpensive,  vehicles. We offer and encourage customers to protect themselves by purchasing our warranty. However, some customers still make the informed decision to buy the vehicle "as is."

      My wife and I purchased a vehicle from this dealership 12/4/2021. during the transaction the company took 2 of our vehicles as trade ins. One of the vehicles still had money owed on it from the previous finance which the dealership assured would be paid off in 10 days and they signed the paperwork stating they were taking the vehicles. After the 10-day period the dealership had still not paid the remaining balance owed on the vehicle and when we reached out to them in regard to the matter, they told us it would be a 20 day pay off and it would be taken care of no later than January 3, 2022. It is now January 14, 2022, the vehicle still hasn't been paid for and every attempt we've made to contact the dealership has been met with no response. We haven't received the information to register the vehicle we purchased from them, and they still haven't settled the previous account, so we have taken multiple unnecessary hits to our credit as a result of their delay. They will not respond to our calls, text, or emails.

      On 12/11/2021 I purchased a vehicle using my vehicle as a trade in. My ***************** was valued at $8000.00. The total price, including tax, ************ for the car I purchased from Auto Nerd was $6544.00. That leave a balance of $1456.00, which was payable to myself. I was advised that Auto Nerd's corporate office would send out the check that following Monday, 12/13/21. It is now 12/31/21 and I have not received any payment. I attempted to reach out to Auto Nerd on multiple dates 12/22/21, 12/28/21, 12/30/21 & 12/31/21. Out of all those dates I was not able to speak to anyone via phone, however I was able to get a text response from One person saying he no longer worked for the company and the actual salesman who sold me the vehicle, and he stated that he had no control over when I got my money but he "has been trying" to get it worked out.

      Good and ********* Good news is that, out of the blue I was contacted by a gentleman that I had not spoken to before and he rectified the issue and printed me a check. He also met me on Sunday (when they were closed) so I could pick up the check. Bad news (not sure if it is really bad) but time was wasted. I know youre time is valuable as everyone else's, and I wish it would not have been wasted on this, as I never like to complain to the Attorney General or BBB or anyone else for that matter. 

       

      Whatever it was, something lit a fire and got the ball rolling. I do not know what or if you need anything from me further But I did want to let you know that they did pay me and it is now settled.

      I purchased a vehicle from Auto Nerd and it ran great for 6 days. On the 7th day my check engine light came on . I called and it was my timing sylinoids that needed to be replace, they complied with no issues. While my car was in the shop they stayed it I needed an oil change and change the oil so they say. Drove the car to ******* to have ticking noises and found the oil was absolutely empty. Called auto nerd and they have for me to get a oil change and take pictures and video of a big did they will refund me the money for that and they never happened. Got back in town they asked me to bring the car to them so they can evaluate it turns out the car needs a motor I purchase an extended warranty where I got the car and the warranty company with that either placing a motor in the vehicle I dont know instead of that they will work with me ask me to come back up to the light its his drive a car I did this picked a car when they did not tell me is if they will be riding my credit again and asking me for a $2500 down payment. I told him that I would not be paying a down payment and they told me that I was basically out of luck because the car was sold as is even though I purchased an extended warranty that they will that I dont know where the warranty company.
