On 01.23.23, I contacted ***** at ** Health regarding a bill I received that was marked "past due" on account ******** for my son. At this time, I provided our families new address. I was assured that the address would be updated for my son, daughter, and myself. Since this time, I have provided my address to multiple physicians within the ** Health network in-person and on their iPad check-in system (dates can be provided if necessary). On 06.14.23 I received a call from attorney ***************************** explaining I had a debt amount of $34 and some change that was sent to collections. She asked how I planned to solve this issue. I explained that I have not received any bills from ** and that I would need more information regarding the services rendered. Agent suggested I reach out to ** Health directly. Upon calling ** Health on 06.14.23, I spoke to agent ****** regarding the call I had received. She noted that my account had a "red flag" on it for incorrect address and that mail had previously been returned to sender by the individual now living at my previous address. ** Health provided my Personal Health Information (PHI) to a stranger living in my previous home (on multiple occasions) and now to an attorney office where several agents have access to my PHI including: account information, full name, dates of multiple services, multiple doctors information, type of services I received (including clarification that I had perinatal diagnostic), and amount that I owed - despite having been informed many times of the correct address. When I received a call from the supervisor today 06.15.23, I asked what ** Health was going to do since they violated my PHI HIPPA rights. The supervisor asked for my correct address and said that she could "retract" the collection. I explained that this does not rectify strangers having access to my PHI at the old address or at the attorney's office. After saying that was the best she could do, she ended the call abruptly.
