1/3/22 contract signed. Remove shingle from flat roof replace with rubber roof, so far, no leaks. New shower on laundry room back corner. Problems 1. No permits were acquired by **************** for this job, even though, permits are required by the town of ************. **************** said he didn't need them to do work in my house. All this work was done while I was not able to be home, I did not pick out a single thing he installed in my home. 2. He installed a 60-inch base when the room is only 68-inches wide. A corner shower does not need a base that big. 2. He glued up plastic walls less than 1/8-inch-thick; he used plastic that kept falling off to cover the seams. Nothing to cover a gap that was 1/4-inch wide between the plastic sheets except caulk. I complained that the job was not professional to the man who was doing the job. The shower pipe coming out of the wall shakes. 3. Then a set of glass doors were installed by the same man. The doors were too big; they hung over the base by 1/2-inch water easily drained onto the floor. The doors were not level, so they stayed in the center. Someone put caulk on the wall and stuck the door to the wall. When I complained and cried to his wife, **************** came the next day and took the shower doors off, leaving hole in the plastic wall and the shower base. He said they would be dangerous for my grandson, and they were not level. 4. He said he wanted to make me happy so he would fix it and had the walls sprayed with some glossy coating which looks terrible, and no one should be in the room for 48 hours. That same morning, I told him the sink was leaking, he said the plumber would be there soon. He didn't come. Base of vanity is warp, by water damage. Second part of the contract, Framing, Drywalling, and 2 doors. 5. This problem is easy neither door fits. One won't even shut. The other door opens from the family room into laundry room. It should open into the family room, so you don't see the tile in the laundry room.

First of all, it is not true that she never picked any of the items installed. I do have a couple witnesses and one of them, which is a pastor, knows that we did everything to the best of our ability to make things right. When I got hired by *****************, she was in a very difficult situation. There was mold in her bedroom and laundry room. The mold in the laundry room, as I explained to her, it basically was because the roof was not properly installed in the first place. So, we installed a new rubber roof and we fixed the issue. I brought my drying equipment and mold remediation. This was around one thousand dollars worth of work that was never payed. I do recognize that there were a few things that did require my attention and I did have a meeting set up with ***************** to go over these issues but I ended up having a cold that morning and I called and texted her to let her know and explained my situation. She then told me that due to her and her husband's medical recommendations, I should not be around them for a minimum of ten days. Before any of this happened, the shower door was properly installed and worked the way it was supposed to, but, she came to me and told me that the shower was meant to serve the needs of her grandson who has autism and that he liked to dance in the shower and sometimes stuff got moved around because of this. So, we both had an agreement to remove the shower door to prevent any potential injuries to her grandson. I still have the shower door in my possession and I told Mrs. ************ that she would get a three hundred dollar discount because the door was included in the total price. After that, we also had an agreement to bring a couple of my guys to repair the details that she had already complained about. I was supposed to be at her home the morning that she filed the complaint. So I decided not to meet with her anymore because she requested no further contact with our company, so that's what I did. She contacted me that same day after filing the complaint and texted me about not showing up that day and I replied that she needed to stop texting me since she doesn't want ANY further contact from me or my business, I was simply going by what she requested when she filed the complaint. Going back to the permits that she was talking about, she never requested a permit to do any of this remodeling work. The main reason why was because we just removed and replaced the same items for item. We used the same plumbing that already was there and we just removed the old electric panel and removed the old shingle roof for a rubber roof. I would be very glad to get those permits if the city of ************ is requiring them but she has to pay for those permits. Also, she still owes me one thousand dollars for everything that I did, that should be enough to fix the details. I am willing to offer her a refund of five hundred dollars so there would be a total of fifteen hundred dollars.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

      1. NO, Genesis Restoration LLC did not address the issues.I will 1.One door and frame must come off because the wall ********* built is not straight it needs to be torn out and replaced. One door has to be replaced because ********* did not make sure it was level, so he cut the bottom off to make it fit. There are no right angles in his work where the shower base sits that must be replaced as well.$$$ 2.NO permits, according to the town of ************ permits are required for all construction of new walls, water lines, and wiring of any kind so it can be inspected. The contractor must apply for the permits so he can explain exactly what the job entails. When I asked *******************************, Vice President of Genesis Restoration LLC if we needed permits  before I signed the contract told me we did not need permits for work done inside our home. I believed him. I would have gladly paid for the permits if he had asked me, or had put the information in the contract at the time of signing. I have text messages of his refusing to call the ************ utilities. Now every wall, where ********* and his workers had placed water lines or electrical wiring has to be opened for inspection.$$$ 3. The one thousand dollar wall in the bedroom still has mold growing on it where ********* ******* it twice. Then he scrubbed off the mold on the wall. This took 15 minutes while I watched him. He never returned to the bedroom.$$$ 4. Shower base and doors were not put in properly. They were not level so as he was installing the door again, I said I did not want them because they were too big and water flowed onto the floor. That's when he brought up my grandson. He said they would be too dangerous for him to use, so he took them off. He knew about my grandson, because we discussed our families when he first came to our home to see what needed to be done. Everything I stated was true. I have a contractor, Ace of all Trades, who has inspected the work that needs to be repaired. The base and plastic to be removed and replaced with a  corner shower. The estimate is  around ****** dollars. I want a ****** refund. Genesis can have all the junk they put in my house.

      Regards,

      *********************

first of all, it is not true that we did not address the issues. The day that she filed the complaint, we were supposed to get together that morning to fix the issues, I was getting ready to leave the office with two other guys so we could've finished everything in about four hours. Here is a breakdown of what really happened...

      1. Removed shingle roof in a flat area and replaced it with flat rubber roof. That was a $4500 job.

      2. removed and replaced electric panel. that was an $1800 job.

      3. removed the washing and drying machines and sealed the old plumbing and electric outlet. $500 job.

      4. installed washer and dryer plumbing system and electric outlet. $1000 job.

      5. installed a new toilet with new plumbing. $1000 job.

      6. installed a new vanity with plumbing included. $700 job.

      7. installed new outlet and light fixtures. $600 job.

      8. installed two new doors. $800 job

      9. mold remediation on the laundry room and her bedroom. $700 job.

      10. built a new wall and finished. $800 job.

      11. painted the laundry room and bathroom. $600 job.

      12. installed new shower with plumbing included.$1000 job.

the total comes out to be $13,000 even

as you can see, this is everything that I did on the job. The details that were left I offered her to make them right but, she kept me running around for like two weeks. If she really believes that I have done something wrong, she is completely free to hire an attorney and proceed legally against our company. Unfortunately, in the last two months I have been dealings with health issues myself, my sugar levels have been out of control and my anxiety has as well. That is why it took me this long to reply because I could not even concentrate enough to even write back on this complaint.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]  I addressed many issues prior to February 15th. 1. Permits to install new plumbing and electrical wiring.  He ignores the fact that he refused to get permits. I asked him at the time of signing the contract if he needed permits. HE STATED CLEARLY NO!!. 2.  his. workers not showing up to do their job and then showing up 2 hours late. (Jan. 13th, ***** was to be at my house by 9:30am didn't come till 11:30). He didn't finish the job leaving two holes behind the washer and under the sink. Wall he built not straight. doors don't shut they are not level, many issues I stated long before the 15th of February. He never resolved any of the issued I have in our text messages.  He did exactly what he is doing now!  Ignoring the issues. I want a refund, I have every text message, I have all the pictures of poor ******* s*** I will never recommend this company.
