Initial purchase was 6/02/2022 Paid $8,990 (down payment of full amount owed $12,250).Business was to remove carpet on stairs, bedroom, and closet and replace with red oak hardwood, including one solid wood piece for risers, transition pieces between rooms, stain to match existing hardwood, dust containment, and paint trim as needed while we were out of town (6/18/2022-7/4/2022). Work started 6/27/2022.Main dispute: Stair risers are thin piece of veneer with pattern going the wrong direction rather than solid piece of hardwood as discussed during estimate. Only half the transition pieces between rooms were put in place, there are gaps next to floor and wood trim in some areas. Owner met to do walk through but really just stopped by for final payment. He was completely rude and unprofessional and refused to even go up the stairs and look at his companys work. He asked what we wanted and we stated we just wanted the work to be completed and he walked out. He was at our home less than one minute thus he must have not had enough money on the line to make it worth it for his company to do a good job and complete the project. Our home was completely covered in dust also (thus no dust containment) and we didnt even mention this. The owner had no interest in completing work or resolving issues.Have invoice but no order or tracking number.Business response

************** originally agreed to painted risers. She tx me after she received quote that she wanted to know the price for wood risers,i responded $500.00.She then tx me that she wood agree to original quote if I would wave the fee. I agreed to original quote and she was not charged additional $500.00
************** asked me for picture of stair way to be sent to her, **** her project manager sent her pictures of stairs were risers direction are clearly indicated.Owner did not make any objections to stair ****** construction or risers direct.Owner called me with complements as her husband who arrived ahead of her said stair look great ! Customer at no time stipulated riser direction or referee material be solid.Owner requested wood risers and that is what we installed. The wood floor was installed against ceramic tile and both surfaces were level. Wood floor must be installed leaving an expansion gap for wood seasonal expansion. No reducers necessary as their installation would cause trip point on the floor.Dust in home was addressed with owner and she understood their would be construction dust to clean at the end of project.
Project manager and myself arrived to discuss stair concerns. Discussion with owners became threatening and abusive I asked them to lower their voices and be respectful but they became more aggressive, then I decided to deescalated the situation by leaving the premises.
My attorney provided customers with demand letter to pay final balance due. At this time no response from customers.
Respectfully

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]
We never wanted painted risers but they said they do 99% painted risers so we considered this option but felt it would be too difficult to keep clean with our children. We then requested hardwood risers and he charged us additional $500. The owner was so rude that he would not even look at his own work during the 1 minute prior them leaving. We were not abusive in any way and we expected the owner to be professional but this was absolutely not the case. We have now met with a reputable flooring company that is going to fix the stairs and add the missing transition pieces. The wood company has said they have NEVER seen stair risers constructed the way it was done with particle board and wood veneer with wood grain going the wrong direction. We also have contacted a lawyer to respond on our behalf. *********** we are using have also had to re-do entire wood floors that were messed by ProSand Flooring.
Regards,
