When we tallied our damages and losses from our move, it totaled over $40k for a $15k move.We were moved in two, 26' trucks. The people who ORIGINALLY loaded our trucks were fantastic. The men who loaded and unloaded our trucks are NOT employees of Triple Berry Moving, they are hired labor. At both the start, as well as the final unloading, the men provided were fantastic. They took great care with our items, and that care was shown in the condition of items unloaded from the first truck. The second truck is where our troubles started. We were initially told that the second truck had broken down and was being stored in a secure lot while a new truck and driver were being sent down to unload and reload our stuff. The truck had NOT broken down. The truck was NOT parked in a secure lot. After a number of different stories, the final version is that the second truck was sealed with a simple padlock and left parked at a gas station. It sat there for over a week. No security, no cameras, etc.The replacement driver who unloaded and reloaded our truck threw things into the truck like he was taking our belongings to the dump. Flat items marked ********* No Bend" were folded into thirds, fragile boxes were placed at the bottom of the load, and countless items simply vanished - including all of our tools, several bookshelves, large bins of books, and a cocktail table that has been in my family for 50 years, as well as other items of great sentimental value that simply cannot be replaced. One trusts that, if well packed, one's items will arrive safely. One does not expect them to disappear off the truck entirely. Of course, one also expects honesty from the moving company or at least that blatant negligence and disregard won't lead to disaster. Our contract states that we are to receive $0.60/lb for loss and damages. By that reckoning we are owed over $2,000 in compensation. We were offered $75. If need be, we will take this to court.

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've experienced with your move. It's certainly frustrating when such valuable and sentimental items are mishandled or go missing. If you're considering legal action, it's important to carefully review your contract with the moving company and gather any evidence you may have of the damages and losses.
Before proceeding further, I recommend consulting with a legal professional to discuss the specifics of your situation and get advice on the best course of action. They can help you understand your rights and options, and guide you on how to proceed with a potential lawsuit if that's the route you choose. We already filed a claim for you and you didn't want it.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I have thoroughly reviewed the contract with the moving company, and am owed the stated amount based on the poundage of the items stolen and damaged. Essentially politely telling me to f*** myself and *** them is not an acceptable answer. I have opened an investigation with FDOT as well as other related agencies and, based on their shady business practices am prepared to file a criminal complaint for fraud against the owner.

      Regards,
