I bought a 2007 Buick Rendezvous with ****** miles from here. Yes a lot of miles and bought as is no warranty. However for a 2007 it does not have much rust and looked pretty clean. Recently my mode of transportation broke down and we're in a bit a rough stage and needed something to get by for a bit. The vehicle ran and drove great at the test drive. It did have a check engine light on. Which just turned out to be a bad gas cap. However after arriving at home and parking it the same day. I waited for my daughter to get off school and she wanted to go for a drive in it. So we did and about ten minutes into this ride the engine started making a loud tapping/clanking sound after about 10 additional miles on the vehicle from time of purchase. The oil had been changed by the dealership and was clean. I contacted the dealer and spoke with a manager. I was able to bring it in for diagnosis free of charge. Awhile waiting I over heard someone say that it was doing that sound but it went away so they put it on the lot for sale. I then was told this by the manager that indeed it was making that sound but it went away and they sold it. During my test drive nothing was heard. This alone personally I never would have put it on the lot. The sound this Buick is making is obviously not some minor thing. And although yes is still running no misfires and the such. It definitely is not going to be a reliable mode of transportation for me to get to doctors appointments among other things. Basically a ticking time bomb. Who knows how long it will last. I'd like not to get stranded especially after 5 grand spent. I was quoted 2 to 3 grand just to diagnose since the sound is in the engine requiring disassembly to 100% diagnose. So basically I'm out a mode of transportation I can depend on at least for a bit and my money. The fact they admitted to the sound, then proceeded to sell when it suddenly went away.
