We took my truck there for a oil change. And when we got it back the relay switch and another fuse that controls the fan was gone and my truck was over heating. I have called the company and they have not called me back to resolve the problem.Review from michael h

I can't give negative stars so they'll get one star. They had my Tundra for a week making some major repairs. One week after getting my truck back my engine begins ticking and then sounding like a bag of hammers while leaking oil. I had my truck towed to Gates on a Sunday afternoon. Monday morning first thing I called Service manager "****" and explained that I'm under very tight time constraints (under contract to sell me house and move) and what was going on. I spent ten minutes explaining to him how urgent this needed repaired. He assured me that they would get right on it and let me know. **** in service (the service writer) called me around 1130 trying to tell me that I had a cracked radiator hose (they had these hoses off a week prior and didnt mention it, plus he wanted me to pay 200 bucks to replace it. When I asked him about the rattling and oil leaks he knew nothing about it and told me he'd get his ducks in a row and call me back). Service manager **** called me just after noon on Monday and said that they drove my truck 20 miles and they didn't hear anything and did not see any leaks. (so it took them five hours to do an hour's worth of driving and looking). He asked if I wanted him to keep it and drive it some more and I told him that I did want them to drive it because we have several camping trips coming up that are several hours away from home and I didn't want to chance having the truck break down. Fast Forward to today (tuesday at noon). No follow up at the end of the day yesterday and I had to call them and leave numerous voicemail for ****, **** and the General Manager. I then called the operator back and asked her to page someone for me. Finally got **** on the phone and he was clueless again and said he was in meetings all morning. I challenged him and asked who was in charge of following my repair while he was in meetings and he stammered and didn't have an answer for me. This dealership only cares about getting money from you.Gates Toyota Response

As we spoke on the phone Tuesday night I did understand your concern and we did pick the unit back up on Wednesday morning. The technician drove the unit back to the shop and inspected and found no concerns with any leaks or any type of engine noise. We than drove the unit additional 40 to **************************************************************** any type of engine noise. I did have them fill the unit up with gas and returned to ************. We will follow up with him in the next couple of days.Review from Erik N

Lied about the history of the car. Sold me a fleet vehicle, lied and claimed it was a single owner car. Car is still tagged from the former police **** that owns it too. Attempted to get plates for it. I can't because they never did the paperwork so I could get it plated. I attempted 3 times to make the first car payment and they keep REFUSING to accept the money. They are now threatening to put the car on my collection's, even though according to the last person I spoke to they should not have sold me that car because Gates Toyota never applied to own it to sell it to begin with. Still is showing owned by a fleet. Slipped in extra 5k worth of garbage on my loan paperwork and did not tell me they were adding to the cost of the car. The salesman kept saying it was "free" and it was not. When I attempted to call and complain about my horrible experience to Gates and find a solution. I was instead blamed for their mistakes and cussed at by the "sales manger" or whoever it was that claimed to be on the phone. I am now without a car and my credit is dinged badly from them. Oh and they ran my credit 14 times instead of once so my credit score is now **** points from that. Avoid these place.Gates Toyota Response

************Dear Sirs,
We appreciate ****************** purchasing a vehicle from Gates.Gates regrets having to publicly refute consumer reviews unless the information is grossly inaccurate. Gates believes there are exacerbating circumstances beyond our control, leading to Mr. ******** unusually confusing review. Though difficult to read, this review is quite easy to refute. Gates would make a few brief factual observations.
The vehicle was a one owner title by a ************. Upon buying the vehicle, Gates transfers the title into their name for security purposes. Today, ****** clearly shows ****************** as the second owner. There has never existed any recorded ownership information from a "former police department". We are a dealer, not a retail owner, there seems to be an impasse with ****************** regarding that interpretation.
The vehicle was approved through TFS. The first payment is not due until May 14th. Early payments may be made providing TFS has processed the loan. Gates has verified that ****************** has the vehicle in his possession and TFS remains the lienholder.
****************** did in fact receive a Life Time Powertrain Warranty for at no cost to him..."free". Additionally, fully cancelable ancillary products were reviewed, approved, and signed for by *****************. Our process is transparent and customer choice driven. At no time were any deceptive sales practice's employed. As of this writing, ****************** has exercised his right to cancel his ancillary selections.
There is no situation that requires Gates or any lender to inquire of the same credit bureau more than once. Credit Bureaus remain available as a record for 90 days. Gates pulled all three bureaus in an effort to use the best recorded score. However, as of this date, Gates is only listed once on each credit bureau inquiry.
Gates has zero tolerance for an employee mistreating a customer, regardless of the situation. This claim has been investigated and several witnesses have been interviewed. There is no basis for this claim.
Gates is not perfect and will always accept responsibility for our mistakes. Gates has served the greater Michiana region for nearly 100 years. That does not happen by accident. Gates will go above and beyond to resolve legitimate issues and complaints. Quite fortunately, this one does not happen to fall into that category. We wish ****************** the best with his new Camry.
Sincerely,
Gates ToyotaCustomer Response

Look at the LIES from Gates Toyota!!! I love how they gaslight people to sell cars. It's sad that the police ownership sticker is still installed on the drivers door frame with the vehicle information and a warning to call the police impound because it is a FLEET VEHICLE. Gates Toyota did in fact run my credit 14 times and it's on my credit report. That warranty they sold me was $4,000 dollars and is NOT A LIFETIME warranty. I did attempt to resolve this normally but when I called I was cussed at and called a liar. Look at how we are being gaslighted and lied about again. This dealership is very dishonest. They only thing they haven't lied about is their lienholder. They did lie about the carfax report and provided a fake one. One that showed a single owner and not a fleet vehicle. I was very clear I would never purchase a fleet vehicle to the salesman from the moment I met the person. I don't enjoy making complaints, nor do I enjoy LIARS. Gates toyota decided to double down on the lies again, instead of doing any customer **********************. I am severely disappointed at the lack of honesty from Gates Toyota. If you would like a picture of the car and the label on the car PROVING Gates Toyota is a LIAR 100% I can provide it upon request at a moments notice. Or if anyone would like they can come look at it and call the Police Impound themselves. I am beside myself at the level of dishonesty in the response from this company. Gates Toyota can claim I lied all they want, I can prove it because the proof is literally attached to the car. Please avoid this dealership, they do nothing but lie. Their response was GROSSLY FALSE and has no basis in fact.
