Went in for eye exam because Im having an issue with my left eye. I was late but I was also trying to find the place and calling to see if they could give me some markers nope. Please let them know Im in the area but I missed the driveway. When I finally got there, I walk in and the lady checks me in and the door behind her opens. She tells them and made sure to tell the person I was there by the 15 minute limit. Then I waited, not a problem, I was late and I was told they were short-handed. Im told to have a seat. While there, I tell them Im having issues with my left eye. I then get their Optimoligist and I tell him. He does his exam, says nothing is wrong that he can see, writes a script for the slight change I have and sends me to the lady who shows me their selection of glasses. Im not impressed with them and feel Im just going to be stuck with the choices they laid out. Then we go through the list of add-ons that I know I need. When we are done, Im told that my glasses will be paid for by my insurance and my add-ons are &300 - $400 and I tell her, Ill think about it and call when I can afford their cost. I called my optometrist Ive seen for the last 10 years and start making payments to see him. I need help with my left eye. Today, a couple months after walking out of MWEC, I got a bill for $326 payable by the 10/21/24. Date on the bill is 10/01/24. I didnt order glasses. I call and call and several more calls because the bill is late next week and nobody answers except the scheduler and she sent me to billing only to get nobody answering. Called a different office and still nobody to talk with. This is not funny. Why do I have a bill for glasses I never ordered? Why wont they answer to clear this up? Why is the bill dated months after I went there? Doctor was lousy. ********** that Im telling him something is wrong. I was just moved along like I was on a conveyor and now I have a bill due next week and cannot reach anyone.Review from Patrick M

I have had long wait periods for glasses in the past with Midwest Eye, but my most recent experience has left a completely sour taste in my mouth. I have been waiting 6 weeks now for a pair of glasses. I first brought in a pair that they broke in the lab, which I only found out by calling in after two weeks when I had still not received a call. I then went in and chose a brand new frame that was nice, but expensive. They said they would check the Insurance quote and get back to me, and it took ,again, two weeks and I had to call in to which they did not pick up the phone or call back, so I went in. They told me that insurance wouldnt cover it, so I told them to just send it in and I was frustrated at this point since I had waiting for a pair of blue light filter glasses to help with eye strain at work. They told me they would expedite the order and I could expect it in one to one and a half weeks. It has been two weeks now, I called in on Friday, they did not pick up. Went in to get my status on my glasses, and was told they were still at the lab. There is absolutely no hurry at this place and poor customer service. I should not have to call in or walk in because nobody picked up the phone, to learn things that I should have been informed about as soon as possible.Review from Krystal W

This review is not for the doctors or the majority of the staff. This review is for *************** technician. My son and I came in for my appointment. My son is 8 yrs old. He was accused by *** of going into a display cabinet and taking a bracelet. *** called me two days later to "let me know" that he had taken it. I told her if he had taken the bracelets I would bring them back and pay for the trouble. *** seen my son open a cabinet to look at some of the supplies (he should not have gone into the cabinet, I know). *** overheard my son and I talking about the bracelets. I asked him where he'd got it from and he told he a friend at school. She did not see him take anything. She assumed and tried to put two and two together based of what she saw and what she heard. When I asked her about it she could not tell me if she had physically seen him take anything, what type of bracelets they were, how many, etc. I asked if there were cameras in the office to confirm it but she said no. After I talked to my son about this I called back to the office and spoke to *** who lied and said she did not say my son had taken anything out of the cabinet but that she seen him open the cabinet. WHY WOULD SHE CALL ME 2 DAYS LATER TO TELL ME MY KID OPENED A CABINET????? She is a liar and accused my son of doing something she had no evidence of him doing. If she seen him doing something she should have told me right there in the office so it could have been handled then no 2 days later. She is an optical tech and the only thing she should have been calling me about is to pick up our materials. I don't know what possessed her to call me about anything other than that if she had NO EVIDENCE. I have been to several Midwest Eye locations throughout the city and have had nothing but good experiences. I will never return to this location, especially after reading some of the reviews and complaints. This is the Lima Rd. Location. I am highly offended and disappointed in her behavior.Review from Mike F

I went to this place for an eye exam and they recommended me getting prescription glasses. I did, we ordered them and I went in and picked them up. I brought them back at a later date saying that I couldn't see out of them very well. Then sent them in to change the prescription some. When I got them back, eventually the s**** fell out. I returned, they put new screws in and gave me a few extras. These screws are not the original and they are sharp on the exposed head. I have replaced several screws now and I still can't see very well with them. I am using my 20 dollar readers at work and I can see clearly with them. I paid over $700 for these glasses and they are cheap, fall apart and can't see as I should. I decided to call them back and see if I could do something and the first thing they said was that I would have to pay for another exam and new glasses because it's been a little over 6 months. Talk about poor customer service! They didn't even ask what I was having problems with, it was all about money. I have been a customer there for several years, mainly exams, this was the first time I had bought glasses and it was a poor experience. My wife gets her exam and glasses at ******* They are 1/2 the price and she has no problems seeing. When my work sends me for my next appointment, I will not go to Midwest, I will be going to ****** on my next appointment. I don't recommend.Review from Nicholas M.

Would not do an equal exchange nor refund me for nearly $200 glasses that hurt my ears, and clearly have glare when i paid for anti-glare. Upsetting that this location has lost my trust and business after years of being a patient.Customer Response

This complaint is against the *********** location. They do redundant testing (insurance fraud?) To date, I have been rescheduled 3 times for simple cataract surgery, and have yet to have it done. Encountered one very rude office staff female member, and one rude female receptionist. In the meantime, I get a letter of apology informing me he is leaving the practice (titanic syndrome). They don't seem to care. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!!!!!! ZERO star rating, except they made me click one********Review from Timothy K

On or about 3-2-22 I paid for work on my eye glasses. Two weeks later I returned 3-16-22. Shocked to find out that they had not been sent off because they hadnt received conformation of payment. I paid on 3-2-22. Was told they would put a rush on them, I would have them back in one week. I returned on 3-24-22, a lady at desk very rude, who wouldnt let me explain what has been going on. I left. At time 3-28-22 I have not received my glasses or a reenburstment. I will never return to this location again. I feel that I need to contact an attorney to handle this matter.
