The project went well until the last few weeks: paint was splattered all over the new countertop and newly refinished hardwood floor from a fan that was blowing closely to the bead board backsplash that was being painted. The second issue was when the refrigerator was being moved from the dining room to the kitchen; it didn’t fit through the door frame so they walked it back through the dining room scratching and denting the hardwood floor. They attempted to repair the floor with polish but it didn’t work. The brand new refrigerator was scratched during the process. The owner refused any further repairs and threatened legal action if I didn’t pay immediately. I paid in full and stated I was done with their services. This kitchen project was March 2023-July 2023.

      Business response

      08/22/2023

This customer had hired a previous contractor that started but did not finish. This required R.A. Jordan to fix many of the previous contractors work as it was all done incorrectly. We completed MUCH free work for the customer as we felt compassion for her and wanted her to have a good experience with our company. The customer continued to complain attempting to pressure us into doing more free work, at which point we finally had to refuse. We responded to the customer's final complaint with the following last email sent to her:

"You have to understand that we went above and beyond to help you out. We did a lot of work that we did not charge you for. We had to fix so much that was previously done before we started working there. We rebuilt the entire ceiling for free because it was built completely wrong the first time. We went out of our way to help in so many ways, such as the floor being so unlevel that we put in a lot of extra work at no charge. With your cabinets that were all ordered incorrectly prior to us coming to do the work, made the job so much more difficult and we went out of our way to contact multiple dealers for you, which we did all out of kindness and trying to be helpful. We tried to fix your water for free/adjust water pressure etc. We saved you a lot of money in so many ways that I could really go on for a while here, especially the services that you were actually charged for were incredibly underpriced (again trying to help you out) . I was hoping that you would have respected us a bit for all of this.

I am sorry that you feel insulted, but please understand that we have to protect our business as well and after consulting with our attorney regarding this project,  I was advised to send you a final bill. I am happy to have (the hardwood floor professional) come fix your flooring, but (our main owner) is swearing up and down that he personally moved your fridge with protective materials and a dolly and everything to insure it did not touch anything. He stated that the fridge is not "brand New" but has been in your home being used for quite a while. ON TOP OF ALL of this... we NEVER agreed in the first place to move your appliances or touch them at ALL... We did this as a favor to you...(because the client asked us to)

To be honest, I am disappointed that we have received absolutely no appreciation for all of the hard work, time, and nice extra things we did at no charge.

If you would like me to reach out to (the hardwood floor professional) for the flooring, please let me know. Otherwise, that is fine if you want to just pay your final bill and discontinue services."
