I called this business and before they came out they quoted me $135 over the phone. When they got here the tech came in and said there was a leak in my ac unit and I needed 5lbs of Freon in my unit ant $100 a pound and the total would be $665. They said they had performed this service already. I was a woman at home by myself and felt extremely uncomfortable arguing with this man. The next day we called a different company out and they stated the Freon was empty and the leak was so small there was no way 5lbs was even added and if it was leaking why charge me and add the Freon if it was going to leak out. He stated national average of Freon was $65. I called the company to question this and they would not give me a clear answer they said well I’m not sure why the tech did this. So I called and stopped payment on the check, they are not filing to put a lien on my property for the $665 dollars.Business response

In regards to a complaint made by customer, ******** *******. Here is our response:
"The customer paid by check at the time of service. Charges on the invoice were thoroughly explained to the customer and an immediate follow up visit was scheduled when the customer stated that the freon we had put in had already leaked out. This appointment was cancelled by the customer. The customer had paid for filters to be delivered. When called to be notified that we were on our way to deliver filters the customer never let us know they put a stop payment on their check and allowed the filters to be delivered. We later received a notice from our bank that a stop payment was placed on the customer's check. In rare circumstances collections must be processed by sending a Notice of Intent to file a lien in a timely manner when it is made clear that there is no intention of payment on an invoice as indicated by the stop payment placed on the customer's check."

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.
We canceled them returning because the very next day a new technician came to our home and found the Freon to be empty. They “supposedly” put 4 lbs and it mysteriously leaked out over night although the leak found was said to have been so small that it could have leaked for 6 months and we would have never known it. So either they have a dishonest tech who did not put the Freon in like I was billed for or they are knowingly trying to scam people. I’m either even why would I continue to have a company out who could not explain their charges clearly to begin with or could possibly have dishonest employees working for them.
Regards,
******** *******
