4/7 I drove from Iowa to Protection Dog Sales KY to consider purchase of a guard dog. PDS advised purchase of 3+ yo German Shepard ****** Within 48 hrs of purchase, ***** showed intense itching, biting of her skin, eating her fur & gagging, rolling back her eyes, repetitious circling while wrapping leas* around my legs. (This is dangerous - I am 75 & live alone.) Despite two *ets' exams, prescription & supplements, ******* self-harming obsessive behaviors continue; *ery disruptive to ***** & to me; unable to sleep. On 4/9 & again on 4/25, I sent *ideos & texts to ** ******* No response. 6/12 I wrote to ****** *I would like you to send someone to pick up ***** & refund the $42,000. ***** has greater issues than an obsession wit* cats." * responded "Well, that's not going to happen..." Also * wrote "you should've just called. Your (sic) old enoug* to know better. Stop acting silly." and "I have no clue what you've done to this dog that makes her be in distress... Have you not fed her? Has someone hurt her?" ****** is projecting his loud mouthed bullying to distract from this unfortunate unhealthy animal. ******* medical records were sent only after pd in full. These records showed many white-outs & re-writes; records appear to be altered. *** shots were NOT up-to-date - late by nearly 4 years for distemper. *** original price of $58,000 was discounted presumably b/c of her fear of cats. I believe * has more serious issues beyond my scope of remedy . I have made efforts & $$$ to comfort & alleviate her condition; however, in light of the purchase price * this poor dog's condition, I ask to return ***** for refund of $42,000. PDS advertises providing the right dog for eac* client's circumstances. In this case, PDS did not meet their own standard. Note: During the 48 hrs I was away from my home, stranger walked around my house taking photos. I have more details of this 'coincidence' but not enoug* space here. Thank you -

Bought German Shepard protection dog,5 mo. Ago-it attacked our child-tore her hand up. Company is blaming the child and us They will not take dog back and refund our money Dog was unprovoked, laying on floor We had report bad/dangerous acts-owner said electrocute him. Blaming-we have no control over the dog. Owner stated- they are making all the calls/not us,for any relief Owner admitted this has happened to other families We thought dog was wonderful, it had no reason to attack Owner says we removed his training @75K-should not be possible Their liability-to place a dog that will not attack a child unprovoked Owner - “You knew the dog was ‘edgy’ and you said you could handle it. We have had 2 German Shepards from another company without incident Labeled complaints about dog behavior-as“digging”-not staying in command-not legitimate reason for an ambush attack Animal is dangerous and we were promised a well trained animal Owner complaint-she is burdened to let the dog back into her program-offered $10,000, “take it or leave it deal, for one day only.” Therefore she is willing to take him and resale him, but not give us our money back. She admits other dogs have bit from her program. She was defensive, cold, and rude. Accused me of being irrational. She hung up on me because she didn’t not like me asking questions and didn’t agree with how I wanted to be refunded. Not rational reasoning for a dog to attack, nor is it professional behavior. Owner wants to accept no liability for placing a dog –she calls “edgy”- with a family. She states we were told, and we wanted him. This is their profession and their responsibility. Owner only offered: a. Us to pay round-trip first-class ticket and hotel, for tech to come remove dog b.Or -pay for someone to come train our family. Both options more money from us for not getting as advertised-dangerous situation It would only be fair to get at least $70,000 back as they can recoup that in resale.

We delivered a personal protection dog to the ********** August 2023. A trainer was sent with the dog to teach the family.. After the delivery there were messages sent such as "greatest dog ever" "much better than our other dogs".  We received a call that there had been an incident, *** directed me to his wife. I left a message for ******* A call back from her that was very aggressive, rude, screaming, demanding and threatening.  I ended the call. She later called back calmer but continued to insult me and then threatened to sue me. I explained that threats of legal action would end negotiations. Out of frustration I offered her $10,000.00 and would pay to transport the dog back.
The ********** signed our contract stating all sales are final, dogs are animals and not always predictable, to hold harmless our company and our staff.
The ********** did not take their Daughter to the hospital after this incident, never explained what her injuries were, never produced photos to show the injury.
Personal Protection Dogs are high drive, specially trained dogs that need to be kept under control, maned, and with boundaries. I offered to bring the dog back to training to back to where he was when he was delivered. I would have also offered to replace the dog with a lower drive dog had Deanna given me even a time bit of respect and time to speak.
Once a dog leaves my physical care I cannot be held responsible for the actions. I have no control over the environment, the handling, the treatment of the dog. I have NO way of knowing what the dog has experienced with the child or any other person. This is an animal that was raised with a family that has children in the home without a single incident of inappropriate aggression. I have attached a copy of the contract that was signed, minus the signatures and personal information as not to create a security risk for the Family

      Customer response

      Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:

***** said the they told us the dog was "edgy" but she believes we just couldn't handle it. We were not told, "It may attack you or your child."!  It has lashed out unprovoked on 5 occasions and finally got our daughter. The dog often wakes from sleep with an aggressive attacking, growling, and posturing manner. The owners admission to the fact they knew the dog was “edgy” and still placed him in a family home will speak to their professional liability in court.

I believe ***** is unprofessional and irrational. I have emails that have been listed on line from other customers she has written, concerning her poorly trained animals and her unprofessionalism and rudeness is a definite problem. I have complaints about previous dogs behavioral problems from other customers as well.

As for medical attention, our child did receive medical attention and it is unfathomable that ***** would crassly make such a statement. My husband, who was right there at the incident is a widely respected , practicing orthopedic surgeon, I am a nurse anesthetist and a forensic scientist with a dual master of science of pharmacology. She could not have been in better care.

We do have pictures; prepared for litigation should that be necessary.

We have decided to get the dog evaluated by a professional. We have zero confidence in the ability of this company to properly train the dog and we will go with another company if the dog is found to be capable. Our decision will be based on an unbiased expert.

Whether the dog is retrainable or not, we will seek a court settlement for medical, pain and suffering, attorney’s fee’s, expert witness fees, and refund of full amount of investment.

At this time we would except $10,000 to cover medical, attorney fee, an unbiased expert consultant, and retraining of the animal.

      Sincerely,

      ****** *********
