In December 2023, C & L Heating & Air Conditioning Inc., based in Louisville, KY, dispatched inexperienced technicians to install a new A/C and heating unit at my home without proper supervision. Despite assurances, they failed to address the improper installation flagged by the city inspector. Consequently, water leakage from the improperly connected A/C hose in the attic resulted in extensive damage to the ceiling. Despite assurances from the company to rectify the issue, they denied responsibility beyond the initial installation. This contradicted previous agreements where connections were explicitly included in the quote provided by Chris, one of the installers. However, Alan, the owner, refused to cover the damages, claiming that the installer's duties were confined to a specific area. Frustrated, I initiated an insurance claim, but problems persisted, requiring additional repairs. C & L Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. proposed installing additional fittings to address the issue at an extra cost of $300. Unfortunately, my experience serves as a cautionary tale: dealing with this company leads to frustration and stress, emphasizing the need for caution when engaging their services.

*** ******** claim is incorrect for various reasons. We did install this system in December, the inspector had a couple of repair requests that were minor issues, 1: We wired the condensate pump in with the furnace, he wanted it to have a separate plug and be plugged in, 2: Where the copper line set connects to the coil was missing some insulation, 3: He wanted 3 screws in all vent pipe connections. All repairs were made on our one trip back to the house which was the same trip we addressed the water leak issue and I have attached photos of them.

The furnace and coil are located on the 1st floor inside of a closet, all of the work performed by C&L was either in this closet or outside at the air conditioner location. All of our drain connections were made properly, connecting to the existing condensate hose (we did not bid to run a new condensate hose). After the water leak in the ceiling my tech went into the attic and found that the condensate hose was not ran completely out of the home, it left the closet (our working space) ran 10+ feet over to a pipe and only had enough length to be stuffed down into the pipe with some old tape, to hold it in place. It was no longer in that pipe. My tech placed the hose back into the pipe and used new tape to hold it in place as that is the only proper drain it could reach. *** ******** reached out to my tech yesterday and said that the hose had come loose again, I told my tech to give him a price of our cost to just rerun a new drain all the way out of the house. My installers connected all of the drain lines inside of our working space properly and the issue happened over 15ft away from our condensate pump and outside of our working environment. I have attached our job quote to this and you can see that we did not quote running a new drain.

I have an attached photo of the damage from the water leak, it didn't come through the ceiling, it merely caused a small bubble in the paint. That picture was taken by my tech the day that he repaired the issue in the existing drain line. My tech asked me what we should do about the drywall spot, even though it wasn't caused by us. I told my tech not to charge for making the repair and to offer to pay to have that drywall spot touched up for $300. I always try to make the customer happy. *** ******** gave our # to restoration companies ranging from $1900 to $4500. He had told the companies that I was going to pay their bill, I informed them not to do the work under those conditions and then called *** ******** and explained to him that the issue was not from our work and was an existing issue not in the same area as our install.
