I have an extended warranty on a GE dishwasher. The dishwasher was experiencing electrical problems after a power outage, but it was still functional. We called in September to get a repair person out to fix it. They send a person who looks at it, declares that they need to order a new control panel and user interface to fix it and leaves, the parts finally get in and a different repair tech comes to our house on October 24, 2024. The repair tech BREAKS the dishwasher in his attempt to fix it, declares that another control panel is needed to repair it, then leaves. November 4 comes and a different repair tech installs the new control panel only to find that the previous tech busted the user interface. Now we're waiting on a return repair visit that has been rescheduled several times and we've been without a functioning dishwasher for about a month! The worst part is that there are about a half a dozen companies involved in this warranty and repair: GE, Assurant, Lowes, Sears, ANE Factory Services! It's almost impossible to get a human on the phone to complain to a manager or get a resolution on this repair. I feel like someone is playing a sick shell game with my warranty and repair services to avoid accountability, and avoid providing the services I paid for when I bought the extended warranty. Honestly I'd have been better off not trying to get the dishwasher fixed. DON'T buy GE if you can help it and don't waste your money on a warranty with them. It's not a good deal. Just pay a local, reputable, repair guy to fix your stuff when it breaks. You'll get better quality service.

Bought brand new fridge day two the fridge was making a grinding sound. called GE they said they would send out a repairman I said no this is a new fridge. I was told this is our policy. I asked about a replacement fridge and was told again there policy. I asked the repair man the same thing I want a replacement fridge. policy again, he hooked up his computer to the fridge and said the fan and sensor needed replacing. I said I bought a new fridge not a used one and would like it replaced. Policy AGAIN…the fridge has the same noise not as bad but it’s there, also the food in the fridge is freezing. the second repairman said I don’t hear any noise and the freezing of your food is from the seal and needs to be replaced. You have to call the manufacturer and again had to listen to their policy. And that is the fridge has to be unrepairable. I bought a new fridge not a used one we have thrown out food and had to put food in our neighbors fridge this is ridiculous that they took my money and said sorry we will not replace your fridge but keep repairing it.

My GE Profile fridge cost about $4000; I hate it and regret the purchase. As reviewers here and elsewhere have noted, it requires "XWFE" water filter cartridges, which contain an RFID chip (it's a metal blob concealed beneath the label). XWFE filters cost about 5X as much as XWF model, which is the same filter, sans chip. Yet the icemaker and water dispenser are inoperable with an XWF filter. There is no alternative product, no generic, it's GE or nothing. There is a workaround, and I encourage people to locate a video to learn the hack (hurry, because I imagine GE will eventually figure out how to hack the hack). Finally, and perhaps worst of all, the icemaker is on this machine is egregiously slow. It takes about 45 seconds to get a cup of ice. Every time I stand there impatiently waiting for the ice turds to come out, I curse this company. Once my fridge starts to have problems (it's two years old), I will trash it... And avoid purchasing anything from this vile company again.

It a shame I can’t rate GE Appliance Repair a negative number. Customer service is the worst. Short story, I bought a new washing machine July 25, delivered August 1, installed August 5th, and never this appliance worked properly, Some days after Washing machine was having more issues and I contacted GE first time en Sep, they have sent 2 different tech companies home, with no success at all. The service has been a nightmare, they have cancelled the appointments all the time without a notice. I have called GE at this point requesting a new appliance and they still are sending a technician with a new part. Can’t wait to know the final of this story. Never again will buy GE and never ever will recommend it to anyone.

We bought a GE Microwave Nov 2023. Since May 2024 it has stopped working 3 times. A technician came out on 11/20/2024, & told me it was the electrical system. He said the microwave needed its own circuit & it needed to be a 15 amp. If it is the circuit the problem would have occurred prior to 5/24. 11/23-5/24 No Problems 5/24-11/24 Problem, 3 times. Nothing has been added to the circuit & the circuit is 15 amp. All GE escalation dept wants to do is send another tech out. This is not acceptable as the warranty will run out and then what? I want the microwave replaced

Do not purchase a GE appliance after this review, dated 18 Nov, 2024. The company no longer manufactures or services appliances. GE, once a storied and impressive conglomerate, going back to its famous co-founder, Thomas Edison, was a well respected American manufacturer of consumer appliances, aviation innovations, and financial and healthcare services. Its former core principals of producing quality products and standing behind those products were legendary. No more. As of April of 2024, GE no longer exits as a company. There are phone numbers you can call for service on existing products, and new products purchased from dealers such as The Home Depot. But customer service is not GE, and the company that operates customer service for those products doesn’t care about the image of GE or its products, because it no longer exists. My wife and I purchased a new GE cooktop range and oven from The Home Depot in July of this year for my elderly mother. Sadly, we did so not having read the reviews. Apparently, a very common problem is the control panel on these particular products. And that is the problem we are having. The customer service won’t replace the product. They have sent a part to be replaced. However, the part to be replaced comes in two separate parts. In our case, one part was shipped, and has arrived. The technician arrived to install it, and discovered that it required the second part to function. Yeah, that’s how we found out. When we called Service again, they said they knew about the two parts, but that the second part was on back order, and would not ship until a week before Christmas. Totally unacceptable! My mother is 82, and her 86 year old husband is in early dementia and final stages of renal failure and has specific dietary requirements, for which she cannot use her appliances going on six weeks now. Customer service doesn’t care. They have specific methods to remedy issues, and will not ever do what is right. DO NOT BUY GE !!!!

I recently purchased a new GE fridge, but I noticed something that really upset me. It uses RPWFE water filter cartridges, which are proprietary and include an RFID chip that the fridge recognizes to enforce replacements with GE filters only. Each filter costs $50, which is not cheap, and I’m unhappy that GE does this purely to make money when plenty of third-party filters perform similarly at a fraction of the cost. This experience makes me reluctant to buy GE products in the future.

I am thoroughly disgusted with my experience. I purchased a new G.E. dryer from **** ***** to match the washer I have from G.E. The new sales rep at the store was very nice when I placed my order but he was new and I guess didn't put on the order to switch the door to the left side. Then the issues started. First, we didn't need the dryer immediately as we had a dryer that worked well so we explained the new dryer would sit in the garage for a few days until the old one was removed. When the dryer was uncrated to be installed, we discovered a broken latch. Calling ******************** handles the repairs, we were told to contact G.E. as they service any product under one year. I have spoken to 10+ people at G.E. One was snippy, the others nice, one extremely nice but everyone had a different approach to my issues. They scheduled a tech to come out to change the latch but ALSO the door was to be switched sides which I told the new sales rep at **** *****. Now they wanted to CHARGE me for the reversal of the doors that were supposed to be included. I have had one person at G.E. tell me it will be done, with no charge, another charged, and back and forth at G.E. Appliances. The tech came out today and immediately said he couldn't do it as he didn't have the part!! I wasted a day being home just to tell me he'd have to reschedule this appointment when I got the part. I asked him about the door and he IMMEDIATELY told me that I would have to pay. I have WASTED at least 6 hours going back and forth with the store and G.E. which now says they can send someone from the store to fix the door reversal as this tech has to reschedule the appointment and he wants to charge me!! MORAL to the story, the people at G.E. customer service aren't reliable and if you order a washer or dryer and need to have the door switched for your convenience, have the person at the store put it in WRITING!! I canceled my warranty and will pay out of pocket after the year. Never again!

Bought a GE freezer Sept 2023. April 2024 the fan which distributes cold air failed. Repair person found it was not fully connected at the factory. Now after another year and a half the fan has failed again. Have had enough of GE.
