I canceled my dental policy last month. I did exactly what they told me to do-send a letter in the mail with my name, address and policy number along with my signature. I just received a bill for this month. I have reached out to Blue Cross Blue Shield, and now they are asking HOW I canceled my policy as if they didn't give me one choice to do so: an outdated method of sending a letter through the mail. It is not my problem what happened after I sent the letter. I did what they asked of me. Also, the representative just put me on hold without any warning and I've been on hold for twenty minutes. I will not pay any bills after December 31st and I want my policy canceled immediately.Business response

In early November 2023, I just received a letter from Blue Cross Blue Shield of LA indicating that my Blue Advantage plan coverage ended on July 1, 2023. That was correct because, as of that date, I accepted full-time employment and was covered under an employer-sponsored plan. However, I paid the $100 monthly premiums to **** through October, so I assumed I was due a refund. After multiple attempts to confirm this, I finally received a call from a **** representative who stated that a refund was forthcoming and was being "processed by accounting." That was over two months ago and no refund has been received. **** would not abide this kind of delay in terms of payments due from me, and believe the converse should apply as well. I have written to ****'s customer service office without reply. I would note that no claims were paid under the **** plan after July 1, as my other policy became primary as of that date.I am confident this will be resolved with a refund--there really is no other outcome. Blue Advantage must process enrollment, eligibility changes and cancellations that are provided through the Center for ******** and ******** (CMS) systems. We received the member's termination transation from CMS on October 23. The termination change was reflected in the November invoice cycle, which is actually the billing for the monther of December.
We have confirmed with our accounting team that a refund was processed on January 18, 2023 and the member should receive the funds back to his bank account early this week.
We want to thank you for bring this matter to our attention. We are reviewing our procedures to indentify potential improvement in our refund procedures.

I was a member of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana from October 2020 to the end of August 2021. I had started seeing an out of network therapist ************** in May 2021. I was informed by Blue Cross that my claims would be covered 70% once I hit my out of network deductibles that was $1000. I submitted claims in May for $400, June for $1000, July for $600 and August for $800. I constantly called Blue Cross to see where my claims were at in the processing and only on August 23 was, I informed that I had mis checked a box. I mailed again my claims that the same day. I called in September and was told that because of hurricane *** my claims would take time to process. I called in November and spoke to a *********************** who informed me only 2 of my 4 claims had arrived to them even though I mailed all my claims together. I emailed my claims to *********************** and on December 10 she emailed me back saying my claims were being processed. I asked her what this meant as I have been kept uninformed of any of my claims and I am still waiting for a reply.This has taken not only a financial but mental strain on me as well. I would like my claims to finally be honored and processed so I can receive what I am owed by Blue Cross and Blue Sheild of Louisiana.Business response
