On 8/9/22 I sold my deceased father's boat (**** Searay *******) to a person via ******** marketplace. At 4:15pm the buyer informed me via ******** messager that the back right wheel on the trailer had fallen off on ****** St. in Bellingham when taking a left turn. I agreed to assist the buyer and came to help him at approx. 4:20pm. I brought my car **** and assessed the issues which appeared to be a broken wheel bearing. I called the Bellingham ***************** at 5:14pm and informed them of the boat that was on the side of the road and that I was planning to get a new part. At 6:28pm an officer called stating they needed to tow it immediately. They called Bellingham Parts Plus (***************************************** ************). I drove by the shop at 7:30pm and saw the boat in their lot with the gates locked/closed. On 8/10, I called Bellingham Parts Plus and was greeted by a very rude employee who had misinformation. She first told me that I had abandoned the boat, which I had not.She also told me that I had "a ton of charges." I asked her to explain the line items which she would not. I then went to the shop and requested an explanation again of the bill but she just calculated charges up of $692.70 for 1 towing, that I did not request (the police did), that required approx. 1 hour of work and 2 workers. he stated that I could not have the boat towed by them, as they were not willing to do it, and that they would continue to charge my $45 per day (having already charged me $90 for less than 24 hours). She told me that I would not be able to take it until I paid in cash. The Manager then began swearing at me and posturing at me like he was going to hit me after I simply asked to explain the bill (included in attachments) as I did not understand how 1 hour of work could equate to almost $700. He came out behind the counter and attempted to hit me while calling me a *****. I called state police who confirmed the charges are not within state towing guidelines.Business response

This Customer has a problem with the *********************** and the ******************* Towing regulations. This boat was left in the middle of a busy road unattended and had also caused damage to the road due to a wheel falling off of a boat trailer with poor maintenance. We were called by the police to tow the vehicle which required 2 trucks and 3 men to safely extract from scene and take to storage impound yard. All charges were clearly on the tow bill and were listed by line item. It has been our policy for cash only on police tows due to customers in the past cancelling checks and or disputing CC charges when they feel the police pulled them over without cause. Furthermore, there is not a Tow Manager other than myself, *****************************************, the owner and I never interacted with the owner or former owner of this boat.
