We signed a contract with Juan ****** on 5/30 to remove/build us a new shed for $10,200. The contract stated that the job would be completed by 6/13 and included 3 payments at the completion of certain stages. The contract was 6 pages, appeared legitimate and detailed. This company appears to be family owned with Juan's brother working for him, uncles, etc. Everyone was friendly and respectful, including Juan, he is a very likeable person. We expressed from the beginning that communication was key! 5/30 deposit of $3,400 started in a week 6/11 Juan asked for another $1,000 towards the materials because the roof material was more than he expected. (We also paid Juan's uncle $1,400 to remove some trees) We noticed they had to rent trucks and equipment. We let them use our personal equipment and tools, along with a dump trailer. 6/22 paid $3,000 next stage funding. At this time everything was not completely on schedule, but they were showing up to work. (Side note and a whole other story that we feel so bad about: Our neighbor decided to have them remove and build her a shed. They removed her shed and poured a concrete base foundation. She gave them 3 checks to cash as the stages were complete. She still has a concrete foundation only to this day, and he cashed all her checks) But then things started to go downhill. Juan would text saying someone was coming and no one would show. He had workers quit (including his brother), vehicles breaking down, family emergencies, Covid, and even the first day of school. We knew he was in financial trouble. 7/25 we gave him additional $1,300 for materials. A worker showed up the next day, but then no one for a few weeks. 8/13 against our better judgement he asked for another $1,000. He said he was going to lunch, but never came back. For the past 2 months he would text here and there saying he was coming to finish to get this resolved. Winter is coming, we installed the doors and electrical, but the exterior isn't completed.

We signed a contract with Aguina Brothers Contracting on April 22,,2022. He was to frame, install windows, siding, and metal roof. Today is June 21, 2022, We have framing but was not completed. He brought two windows out of nine. He brought metal roof not correct size, or quanity. All along he said he order the windows we paid him $6,300.00. No communication at all there is always an excuse why no workers show. Two months when he said one week with good weather. We bought and instralled seven windows to keep water out. Asked him to refund $1600.00 for the windows we purchased. These were included in contract. He said he would bring money down excuse # 1 Out of State, #2 Child sick, #3 flight delayed,# 4 Had to babysit #5 No workers or had COVID. #6 In jail #7 Rehab. We always had to contact him, if he answered. If we didn,t call would not havve heard from him. Would like a refund for windows and vinyl siding and gutters, and roofing that we paid for and never received.

Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2022/07/25) */ We did sign contract on April 22nd 2022, jerry kept changing stuff up first he had said he wanted to match the existing windows in his house which are 32in and then claims we had discussed 36in windows which in reality price wise it's a big difference and considered a change order. So I suggest if you want to change stuff up have enough money to pay for it and not nickel and diming. On june 22nd I gave ***** $1000 I believe that's more then enough considering all the work we did and changes he made my guy's do over and over. Consumer Response /* (3000, 12, 2022/07/26) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Mr. Aguina agreed to reimburse us for the windows which were $1600.00. He paid $1000.00, and agreed to pay $1100.00 more, $600 for windows and $500 towards the roof and vinyl siding we never received. We also agreed, When he got the BBB Letter he said if he knew we complained we wouldn't have gotten a cent. Attached are copies of invoice windows, bill for contractor to finish. Very dissatisfied with framing he did do, windows noticeably spaced different widths.

I hired Jaun on 3/8 to build a shed. He charged us $5900 for a 10x16 shed he told me it was a 5 day job and he would start on 3/10. So far we have paid him $3800. I started having complaints when he would show up for 30 mins then leave as soon as we would leave to go to work for the first 5 days only the base was completed. There would be days he said he would show up but then never called / text or showed up. I had multiple conversations with him about communication. He had guys show up one time to complete a full day of work on 3/16 witch was a total of 2 full days of labor. He never had anyone show back up and didn't call/text or show for days at a time. When he finally text me back he claimed that his whole crew has Covid. I told him I understand I just needed some communication because he has a large part of our money. He txt me yesterday 3/22 saying the team was cleared and he was buying material and dropping it off so they could start tomorrow. He never showed and has blocked my phone number. No one has shown up.
