Hughesnet continues to practice illegal business tactics that they've already been involved in a class action lawsuit for. I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! The connection speeds are 10x slower than my mobile Hotspot and they extend your subscription without your knowledge or authorization to then charge you early cancelation fees because you fail to fulfill the contract extension that they signed you up for illegally. My quoted price was raised 5 times without my knowledge and every time I called to complain they would somehow "fix" the issue in the form of credits that apply to future bills. They do this by enrolling you in a longer contract without your authorization. Pay attention to how the customer service staff is trained on redirecting any issue that claims they are breaking the law. I was enrolled into an additional 12mo contract when I called to cancel my subscription by a *** named ******** and when I found out and called to complain they decided they were going to charge me an early termination fee. I referred to the last recorded call with ******** where I never authorized a contract extension and the *** told me that may have not been his real name so she couldn't determine who I spoke with but that her system stated I authorized an additional year of service. She couldn't tell me who I spoke with but only that I somehow upgraded my service when I was looking to cancel. Unreal how this business continues to rip people off and get away with it. There will eventually be another class action lawsuit against Hughesnet.Review from Sydney G

I was extremely mislead from the very beginning and have spent hundreds of dollars since paying for this mistake. Upon signing up I was assured that 100 gigs of priority data would be plenty for our family. We have one TV, 2 cell phones, and a baby monitor that run on WiFi. We ended up going up to 200 gigs a month because 100 was not in fact enough for us, not even close. Once standard data kicked in nothing would load at all. We couldnt watch any TV, our baby monitor wouldnt load, etc. Come to find out we were using about 650 gigs a month! We dont use any of these devices excessively. We were originally told that 200 gigs was the max amount of priority data offered. When I called to address the problem I was advised that I dont need a baby monitor and that I could just listen for my baby crying to save data. Absolutely not. Once we made the decision to cancel we were offered a 500 gig data plan which clearly would STILL not be enough for our minimal devices. The only solution for us was to cancel our service. We are now being charged $325 just to cancel our service! Weve paid over $500 in the short amount of time we had the service in data tokens just to keep our devices running for half the month each month. I advised before I cancelled that I wouldnt be able to afford the cancelation fee and was told that I could set up a payment plan and to send our equipment back. Weve now sent back our equipment. Ive called to set up a payment plan and have been advised that I wont be able to set anything up until our account goes to collections. They have now repeatedly tried pulling the money out of my account when there is not enough to cover the amount in the account. I am FURIOUS. I feel as if Ive been nothing but mislead by this company from the very beginning just for them to collect my money and not receive the service originally promised. Weve since went with ******** and have had truly unlimited service with no issues whatsoever.Review from teddy s

11/6/2024 On August 24, 2024 HughesNet installed a satellite dish on my roof for high speed internet. I checked the internet download speed and it was always between 50 and 100 mbps, but the computer was very slow & sluggish. I complained to Hughesnet several times with no resolution.I received an advertisement in the mail from T-Mobile about 5G Wireless Home Internet. I ordered the T-Mobile router. I received the T-Mobile Router on 11/4/2024 and installed it the same day. The results were fantastic. The internet was extremely fast and the internet pages loaded very fast. No more internet problems. On 11/5/2024 called HughesNet to cancel my account. I explained the problems that I had with HughesNet and that I wanted to cancel my account. I was told that there was a $400 early termination fee. A Hughesnet technician arrived Wednesday morning 11/6/2024. He checked all of the HughesNet equipment and found nothing wrong, but regardless of that, he did agree that my computer was very slow. His conclusion was that there was something wrong with my computer, it was too old and I needed a new computer. At that point, I disconnected the HughesNet Router and connected the T-Mobile Router. My computer then ran very fast and there were no more problems loading the internet pages that I couldnt load using HughesNet. He was completely surprised and had no explanation why it was running so well on T-Mobile but not HughesNet. Being a HughesNet employee he apparently felt compelled to protect his employer and he just fell back on his previous conclusion that I needed a new computer. Why in the world would I need a new computer when my internet worked perfectly on T-Mobile internet? The technician was a witness to this, yet he had to find a way to shield his employer, so he fell back on his assumption that my computer was too old. I would like to know at what age a computer is too old to work on HughesNet internet. They just wanted their $400 cancellation fee.Review from Jim J

There service did very poorly,we changed from are internet provider because Hughesnet promised faster speeds and better service at a comparable price . I called them and and they told me that I needed to pay for better service or pay 500+ dollars to disconnect we ended 8 months later paying over 200 dollars a month for service that at best was poor.we cancelled 11/10/2024 and was charged 425 dollars disconnect fee. And went back to are old provider $65 / month and so much faster internet and constant service. Hughes net fraudulent practices are rampant, they are thieves as far as I am concernedReview from Michael N

Absolutely criminal company. Charge ridiculous amounts and throttle your speeds if it ever works. Worst part is they expect you to climb on the roof to dismantle the satellite to return equipment when you cancel. Extremely dangerous and unprofessional. Would not recommended . Your better off with nothing.Review from Amber R

Terrible!!! I had the service for 5 years, only supposed to be 2 but they didn't terminate service as they were supposed to according to records. Withdrew from my checking account monthly for 2 years before I realized what was going on (I am terrible about onine banking and do not keep track like I should, ****** learned). Called again and told that account never cancelled, even though I had the date and the cancelation ref #. They terminated service that day. I payed over $2000.00 in those 2 years when service was supposed to be cancelled. They have now taken $318 out of my checking acount to pay for the equiptment that I do not have and have not had in 2 years. I called today and was basically told "oh well". Important to note that the entire time I had service, it did not work. I was never able to get service, not 1 day. They reccommeded all this additional equiptment that I needed to buy to help. I bought it, never helped. Not an ounce. So, unless you want to be screwed out of service and pay alot of money for no reason.....I would ***** clear of this company.Review from Tim C

I can't use any online programs that require internet stability. All the investments I've made that require such is useless. This is a direct result of choosing this brand internet to handle my needs. The advertisement does not inform you that you will not be able to stream online movies, you cannot play online games. You cannot trust this internet service for business. I'm losing on my investments because of this.Review from Steven M

I just moved from out of state and had this internet installed today. I contacted customer service within the first 30 mins to cancel this horrible internet service. I paid in full for the equipment on September 29, 2024 and moved to the rental house October 28, 2024. The service was installed today, November 2, 2024. I have credit card transaction showing I paid $414.97 on September 29, 2024. When I contacted them they said they never received a payment then I reached out again but this time they stated they saw a payment for $299.99. Well by the end of the conversation they stated they sis not receive a payment and told me I would have to do a reversal or dispute the transaction. I have screenshots of the chat and an email stating I did not pay them along with my credit card transaction that shows I paid $414.97! Stay away from this company!
