In February of 2022 I started looking into buying a puppy. I decided to go ahead and look up breeders in the AKC.ORG. I found a local breeder about an 1 hour away from home. I started communicating with Ms. Linda ****** of Dunhaven Kennels for info, pricing and so on. She told me she had 2 females, 2 males. So I chose a female. However in our second conversation, she said she had only two males available. I said fine. So we made a date to meet at her house so i could see the male Shih Tzu (purebred). She had 2 puppies in a tiny box since they were only 3 weeks old. I asked her if I could hold the puppy i chose which was given a number of "3". She said "NO". I said, "I understand with COVID and so on and forth. I gave her a $400 deposit to hold the doggy til he became 8 weeks old which would be 3/25/22, a Friday. The total cost for the puppy was $1600. I owed her $1200.00 which i was to bring on 3/25/22. The day came and I got the puppy. I asked her if i could see the mom & dad of the puppies but she said, "Oh you wouldn't want to go down there, its very messy." I did not notice anything wrong with the puppy, just regular scratching. Once i got home the itching was unbearable for the puppy, it was almost like the doggy was having epileptic attacks. Til today 3/29/22 i took the puppy to the vet and the Dr. diagnosed him plagued with fleas, ticks -you name it, tape worm. In addition an umbilical hernia. I don't know what to do. I have called her and she will not answer my calls, texts, etc. I tried calling the AKC to file the complaint but i was on hold for 1 hour til i hung up. To wrap things up. I want her to understand that I don't want to give the puppy back. I just want a REFUND for the medical bills. She should have taken care of all this before i bought the puppy. Thank You. Please get back to me promptly.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/11) */ Contact Name and Title: ***** * Dunham Contact Phone: ********** Contact Email: *********@GMAIL.COM Let me start by saying I have raised dogs for quite a long time. I did sell this male pup. I did notice he had a flaky spot on the end of his tail. No parasites were visible. I did get a text and responded to it. I had one other pup with this issue. Vet said a few flea eggs. I paid for that treatment. Never heard from this complainant again. Never got vet report or bill. I am willing to pay for treatment. As for umbilical hernia. It does happen and I have never gotten involved with this because some don't require repair (purely cosmetic). This is how I viewed this hernia. Most vets repair this when the pup is spade or neutered. Some vets repair this purely because they can make money doing it. A return is always an option but I read she already declined that. Any surgery cannot be performed before 6 months of age. At that time I would like to have my vet evaluate this pup.
