I have been a homeownder for 45 years. For many years, I have been using Gutter Guys to clean my gutters each fall. To be a good neighbor, I have also had my meighbor's house, which is attached to mine, gutter-cleaned. For many years, the cost was $150 plus an extra $50 for my neighbor's property. The crew was here already, and doing the second small rowhouse was not a big expense for the company. Two years ago, the workmen noticed that my back gutter was damaged, and told me it would be cheaper to replace it and add a gutter guard than to repair it. I agreed, and spent about a thousand dollars for the project. I assumed that, with less gutter to clean, the job would be cheaper in the future. Last year, the company raised their price to $170, and charged me an additional $170 for my neighbor's house. The fact that the two small houses were attached to each other meant nothing - they charged a $170 minimum per house. Although this sounded unreasonable, I went long with it, as I did this year. There were scheduling problems, and the work was finally completed on January 10. My neighbor indicated that leaves were left near the parapet on his roof. When I called to report that, the secretary told me that it had been eight days since the work was done, so they weren't responsible. I pointed out that all the leaves had been off the trees for over a month, but she blamed the weather. Was it raining leaves? She stated also that if the leaves weren't actually in the gutter, they would be ignored. That's like taking a car to be washed and having the worker ignore the tires. The leaves were less than a hand's width from the gutter. Also, when I mentioned a receipt the workers had left indicating a problem with the very gutter they had installed two years ago, the employee told me that lots of things can happen in two years. Again, not their problem. I have rarely worked with a company less interested in pleasing the customer.

For the past several years I have employed “Gutter Guys of Maryland, Inc” to replace all my gutters, downspouts and install gutter guard on all gutters on my home. Last year (2022) during a very severe rain storm the water was pouring over the lower end of the valley (where two roofs intersect). After the storm I called them and they sent an install team to correct the problem. They installed a small diverter dam at the lower edge of the valley; this appeared to correct the issue. This year (2023) during a rain storm the water was again pouring over the dam and leaking between the gutter and the soffit. I called them to correct the problem. The CSR I spoke to stated there was a $75 charge to send a team out and look at the problem area. She went on to say the charge was for brushing off the gutter guards. However, no mention there would be a repair where the gutter had pulled away from the soffit. I have no intention of paying $75 for them to correct a problem that may have come about because of a poor install. There was no charge in 2022 to install the water diverter dam.
