My wife and I leased a shop from Westminster Mall from August thru February of 2022. We left our space in excellent shape and in a timely manner on February 28th, 2022. As of the date of this complaint (June 6, 2022) we have not received our security deposit of $500. We have contacted Mall management more than once and have received totally no acceptable reason for not having our security deposit returned to us. It is almost certain that due to the Town Mall's own financial decline they are paying all their bills to every one they owe money to, just as late as they can. We feel that other small shops who may rent a space at the Town Mall should be warned they can not trust the Town Mall regarding financial matters. We also feel we should have been reimbursed our security deposit in not later than 30 days and it has now been over 3 months without payment.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/06/14) */ Check was cut on 5/25/2022 and cashed on 6/7/2022. Tenant was informed that our policy is that we cannot release a security deposit until we receive confirmation from all third-party vendors (BGE, City of Westminster- water and IEM trash removal), that their account was paid in full. If the tenant does not pay, then the Landlord is responsible for payment. The City of Westminster bills water quarterly so it can take 90 days before we receive the last bill from the tenant.
