In Jan 2023 had my annual mammogram performed at Bon Secour's ("BS") ************************* Imaging which is an in-network for my insurance. Every aspect of the mammogram, including the results report and all billing statements reflected that the service was performed by ************************************** Imaging. BS miscoded the claim sent to my insurer and my insurer treated the procedure as being out of network.I made multiple calls to BS between Feb and May 2023 to resolve the matter resolved.In May, I received a ******* notice regarding the outstanding balance from ******** called its customer service again. On hold for over 40 minutes, sent a message via BS' chat option. In June, I made multiple calls and was told something different each time.I received a final notice in July, that the matter would be handed over to a collection agency. (My May 30 message went unanswered until July 26, when the response was "we see you've spoken to customer service".) On Aug 14, after more calls, I was told that the matter would be sent to BS' insurance depart. for recoding, the charge would be removed from patient responsibility and would not be sent to a collection agency. On Sept 23, I was contacted by a collection agency! When I called BS customer service, I was told it was MY responsibility to check back with BS on the status, however that the outstanding bill would once again be removed from patient responsibility. I called several times since, including a call on Nov 6, yet received another final notice dated Nov 7 a day after speaking with customer service who said that the bill had been removed from patient responsibility. On Nov 10, I asked to speak to a supervisor and was handed off to BS escalation department That rep tried to convince me that the service was performed by an entity other than ************************* Imaging, which was untrue, so I asked to speak to that person's supervisor and was told she would call within 72 business hours.It's been almost three weeks and no call.
