They lied and said they were Consumers. These two guys wouldnt leave unless I showed them my bill to help reduce how much I pay. I tried to find one and when I couldnt, I asked them to come back later and they asked me to log into my online account. I was clearly trying to end the conversation but I was one woman vs two guys, one of which was pacing the sidewalk. Not exactly a comfortable situation. After they copied our account number down, to confirm the account we spoke about, I thought it was odd I didnt get a copy of this acknowledgment (they said it was just acknowledging the conversation, not me agreeing to change the account over) but I figured Consumers would mail us a copy. Imagine our surprise to get a letter explaining our bill is now with this company. You committed fraudulent misrepresentation. We will NOT be paying $50 to cancel when we didnt want to switch to you in the first place.Review from DARMA B

I was skeptical but my roommate wanted to go for it. I asked or a business card but never received one. I continued to ask why ***** was out visiting clients and not just giving us the discount. They asked for my account number which ***** would already have. This man misrepresented himself multiple times. It was a scam to get me to change gas companies. Many of my neighbors are elderly and Im aware that at least one was duped into signing the contract. Please don't be fooled by MICHIGAN NATRUAL GAS and their scamming behavior.Michigan Natural Gas Response

The customer spoke with a ********************** sales representative on April 30, 2024, about enrolling in the Gas Customer Choice Program. The same day, the customer contacted ********************** requesting cancellation. We assured the customer that their information would be flagged in our database to ensure the customer information would not be processed for enrollment. Michigan Natural Gas received notice of the customers concerns on June 4, 2024, and placed a call to the customer to gather more information regarding the experience with the authorized sales representative on June 5, 2024. The customer insists that she was under the impression that the MNG agent was a Semco employee but admits that she noticed the Michigan Natural Gas name and logo on the contract before signing to authorize the enrollment. The customer confirmed that the agent wore a neon vest, however the customer was unable to recall the branding on the vest. Michigan Natural Gas apologized for any inconvenience and assured the customer that ********************** **************** would be placing a formal complaint on her behalf. The agent involved with the enrollment has been retrained to clearly state the details of the Program, and the importance of compliance. We sincerely regret the customer was not satisfied with the ********************** Program. They send out canvas workers whom use subterfuge for overcharges and not telling customers they're in a contract? This entire winter me and my children were fighting to keep the lights and gas on, they were turned off twice and I work at **** making good monies. I was told they were going to beat DTE prices and I asked for how long of course and was told for as long as I keep them? They used my greed for $0.04 a month only in the end to get overcharged $600 plus dollars and a $50 early termination fee? Please help me put then out of business or stay in ************ because they're not holding to they're words, but holding me to a contract that not being answered truthfully.Michigan Natural Gas Response

The customers account was enrolled with *** on 6/22/2023 after speaking with an in-person sales representative. A Michigan Natural Gas Welcome Letter and a copy of all terms and conditions of the contract were mailed to the customer after enrollment. On 6/28/2023, a Quality Control call was made to ensure the customer was satisfied with the enrollment process and to ask if there were any questions regarding the Program. Michigan Natural Gas reviewed the product offering chosen by the customer at the time of enrollment and offered to send the customer proof of enrollment stating the terms and conditions agreed to. Proof of enrollment was sent to the email provided immediately following the call. As an alternative to cancelling, Michigan Natural Gas offered to change the account to a new fixed rate of $0.299/CCF for the remainder of the customers contract. Like everyone else, two sales reps came to my door and asked to see my current rates as a survey of rates in the area. They asked me to provide email and contact information so they could follow up with me in a month or two if I wanted to switch my provider. They asked me to sign an electronic document, which I was told was just consenting to receive information. Then, I get a letter from MNG stating that I entered into a contract (that I can cancel within 30 days). There was no meeting of the minds, and the customer copy of the contract they sent me did not have my signature. This is fraudulent inducement. Im switching back to DTE immediately. Even if the rates were better (theyre not), this business practice is deceitful and predatory.Michigan Natural Gas Response

Understandable on what other comments reported. Michigan natural gas gave me wrong information stating that I could switch and get a lower rate. They failed to mention that the lower rate would only be for 2 months. Spoke to consumers and michigan natural gas and consumers was very helpful about the situation. Nothing was given to me when Michigan natural gas was here. I had to wait for the email after I signed to read the fine print. Very misleading. They did have a vest and was going door to door, but they did not tell me who they were working with until I asked specifically who they worked for. The guy was nice about it, but with the wrong information given I do not trust this companyMichigan Natural Gas Response

Rep came to my door saying he was from the gas company checking to see if my rate was correct. I should have asked more questions but was busy at the time. Never stated he was trying to change my service from semco. Got a letter in the mail a week later welcoming me to Michigan natural gas. When I called to cancel, customer service didn't seem surprised by what I said. Obviously, this is how they operate.Michigan Natural Gas Response

This company uses very deceiving practices to sign people up for their service as an alternative gas supplier. A young man came to my door and wanted to see my Consumers Energy bill. The clipboard he was carrying had a piece of paper with the Consumers logo on it, so I asked him if he worked for Consumers and he replied that he did. I then told him I wanted to make sure he wasn't working for an AGS because I had tried that once and didn't want to do it again. He assured me he represented Consumers Energy, so I showed him my bill. He looked at it and told me I had a charge that was in error and wrote some information and said I would be receiving a rebate within the next couple of billing cycles. What he actually did was copy my POD number from the bill and used it to switch my gas supplier to Michigan Natural Gas.I was able to cancel this, but if he had been honest, I wouldn't have wasted a lot of time communicating with Consumers and Michigan Natural Gas to cancel something I never agreed to at all.Michigan Natural Gas Response

Came to my door, I shut the door in their face after saying no. 2 seconds later another employee knocked at my door. Made his case stating they supply the gas and that consumers energy owns the pipes and meters. He stated that they made a mistake with my rate and needed to correct it. I made the huge mistake of not reading the paper (he didn't offer to have me read itbefore signing it! After they sped off in the car, I looked at what I had signed. Big mistake! You can cancel for a $50 fee at anytime. I am appalled at the lengths companies will go to just to make a buck. SHAME ON MICHIGAN NATURAL GAS!!!!!
