After 10 months of regularly being told my tax returns were "done" and many times told they will be sent for review "next week", this company sent me an email on March 9th telling me they wanted more money by March 15th, or they would "disengage.". I had been pushed from account rep to account rep 5 times, had cooperated fully to the best of my ability and was never a hinderance to the process. I had been told numerous times that all necessary extensions had been filed and I had nothing to worry about. After requesting to the 5th representative of this company to claim to be my "new tax preparer" to immediately see the extensions for 4 business returns and my personal tax returns as well as the work that was done to date, I was ignored and ultimately sent the disturbing email in which I was now being told that "penalties and fees where accruing".I have been using this company for business and personal tax returns for many years without problems. They apparently recently transitioned operations of the company and I now have a huge issue to resolve. My 2021 returns have not been completed and I have reason to believe that no work has been done at all to date. I have requested my documents to be sent to me immediately and not been responded to by anyone. I do not yet know to what extent my damages will be but I'm sure they will be costly. I do not know what recourse I have but will have to take action against this company.Business response

Good afternoon,
***************** (former client of ours) and ********************* (his business partner) are in a litigious dispute regarding their businesses. The dispute has a definite effect on their tax situation. We corresponded that we need a mutual agreement on how to file the income taxes or we could not prepare the returns. They could not agree. This went on for a long period of time. Finally, The Accounting Office, with the advice of counsel, gave the clients some time to come to an agreement. At that point, we would disengage. We were incurring significant time looking into their issues. Our deadline was indeed March 15.
At that point, **** asked for his records to be returned. The Accounting Office returned his documents via certified mail as he requested. We did receive the receipt that he received the documents.
Of final note, these entities were not invoiced for any of the services.
