In May 2021, I called Community Financial to get a payoff on a loan I had for a vehicle. I was given a verbal amount of $16,160.58 that was good until June 11, 2021. I mailed a check for that amount on June 4, 2021, that was deposited by CFCU on June 9, 2021 (I have a copy from the bank showing the front and back of the check). On the memo line of the check I wrote final payment and the account number. In January 2022, I received a call telling me I had not paid off my loan and still had a balance owing of $91.04. I had never received an invoice nor phone call prior to that call; in fact, I believed I had paid the loan off according to my phone call in May 2021. The person told me not only I had a balance owing but was being charged interest. On a later call, I was told of another amount and I asked them to send me a list. On February 22, 2022, I received a letter dated February 16, 2022 stating a payoff figure as of March 11, 2022, and interest would accrue at the rate of $0.01 per day and would be included for each day after March 11, 2022. The letter shows Principal as $91.04, Interest $0.65, Late Charges $15.00 with a Total Payoff of $106.69. A Wire Fee of $12.00 for a Total Wire Payoff of $118.69. Seems strange that after all these months I would get a phone call telling me I had not paid off my loan and that now I owed more than what was quoted plus interest and a late charge. I would like this resolved by CFCU showing this debt paid off as of June 4, 2021 and a discharge/termination statement sent to me in writing. Why wait eight months to call me?
