Due to character limitation, here is the truncated review:To recap most of the ongoing issues from the initial install from Lowes contractors By-Tor:Door frame: Not square.Door Jamb: Wavy. Not level. Uneven seams.Entry Door: looseness. Damage on Hinge side cutting into the door frame causing damage to both the door corner and gouging the frame. Not flush to the frame. Top of door, when shut, on closing side sticks out , the bottom of the door sticks out about 1/8 and the middle recedes 1/8 due to the latch. Gap along the seam between the latch frame and entry door is anywhere between 1/8 to due to the wavy frame. The hinge side gap along the seam goes from touching(top corner) to .Strike plate: both deadbolt and doorknob plates are not aligned. Not capped allowing you to see inside the frame.Sill/Threshold: Not fully secured as it depresses when stepped on. Too much give. Safety issues. Screws attaching threshold not capped and are rusting through. Sill/Threshold sitting on shims, not fully attached. Able to see gap between frame and sill from the outside of the shims being used to hold up the Sill/Threshold.Storm door: The latch rail and storm door not aligned. Fully sealed on top portion of latch side but gap expands as you proceed down upwards 3/8. Sweep not installed properly with gap on hinge side. The Expander that got replaced not installed properly as it sticks out on the outside hinge side with sharp edges. Able to see light in the top left and right corner framework of the storm door. As the storm door frame does not attach to the closing side jamb, the latch does not engage 100% of the time because the strike plate moves. Wrong exterior caulk was used.By-Tor Contracting, Inc. Hi ***,Thank you for reaching out. I am researching this but there are a ton of notes and pics in the system from the manufacturer, retailer and subcontractor installer that shows that everyone went above and beyond to get you taken care of, including providing all new product. It does appear that you have full rot free jambs that are vinyl jambs that expand and contract at a higher rate than wood and will vary from time to time. All of the photos and documentation show that that the install in correct and withing manufacturer specs along with all correct products being used, such as the *** Quad Max exterior grade caulking. Once again, still investigating this.Review from Victoria B

Wish I could leave 0 stars. Ordered a dishwasher from Lowes on 9/8 and my husband has been going back and forth via TEXT through some automated system to confirm an installation date. Now we aren't expected to have it installed until 10/7 and it still has not been confirmed - cannot get a hold of a real live person at By-Tor. It is rediculous that we have to wait A MONTH to get a dishwasher installed. Lowes confirmed that the dishwasher has already been shipped and has arrived.....so now just waiting on By-Tor.By-Tor Contracting, Inc. Response

Hi ********,Thank you for reaching out and sorry for the delay. Our installer that covered that area for over 20 years went down recently with cancer. We are sending in traveling coverage until we either get medical clearance to bring that installer back because we do not want to take their livelihood away from them or go through the extremely painful process of recruiting, clearing and training a new installer to take that area over, which as you know will take time. I do see where we tried to get it scheduled for 9.26.24 but that appointment was declined and then again on 10.1.24, 10.2.24, 10.3.24 but those also were not accepted either. I do see that your appointment is scheduled for 10.4.24. I just want to make sure that we are on the same page there.Review from Mike H

Very similar experience to every other review on here. This company does not deserve the business of Lowes customers. Scheduling with by-tor is difficult, as they only schedule via text message. If you can't accept the day they determine for installation, it takes multiple days for them to respond IF at all. In my case, it has been multiple days and they still have not reached back out to schedule a date. I have been updating them constantly throughout the week via text to keep them informed of my availability, as im trying to work this installation around my job. I called their 1800 number and the scheduling lady on the phone was very rude. "Surely you can understand". No I can't, I work for a $4B/year global company that schedules customers, we do it immediately over the phone. I was keeping my work schedule open as much as possible to accommodate the installation however they have no respect, I'll be canceling the order. I'll get the job done myself. It's a shame that ***** decided to utilize this company who cares not to give customers a decent experience. Don't waste your time or money with this company. I wish I read these reviews first. If this was an anomaly I would treat this differently however there is a consistent theme when reading these reviews.By-Tor Contracting, Inc. Response

HI ****, Unfortunately, we are not a $4B a year company with that kind of payroll, we barley squeak by because things have to be kept as affordable as possible so that means that we have to use automation. We were one of the last providers for Lowe's to move to the auto call system and we only did it to keep up with scheduling because we could not afford the payroll to make 240,000 manual phone calls a year. We do make manual calls when our cycle of auto calls proves unsuccessful, and it is successful 89% of the time with very little issues. Sorry that you had this experience, no company wants an unsatisfied client.Review from Kimberly R

Hello ~ Sorry to report we have had a similar issue with this company. They came on July 1st to install 2 closet bi-fold doors and 4 interior bedroom doors we purchased through ****** . The installer said ****** included the wrong hinges for the bedroom doors so he put them on using the old hinges from the doors being replaced. My husband offered to go to ****** and get the correct hinges so he could finish but the installer said he would put in a work order for the correct hinges and come back, explaining that if we did not do it that way it would complicate the order. Meanwhile, a couple weeks ago one of the closet bi-fold doors came completely off the track. My husband and neighbor could not figure out how to put it back on, concluding it likely was not installed correctly. I have texted and called By-Tor numerous times with no response. Finally we went to ****** last Saturday and reported the issue to the salesman. He is working on getting a response and resolution.************************************, **By-Tor Contracting, Inc. Hi ***,Thank you for letting us know about this. I do see this in our system and I do see that we have requested that ****** orders the correct hinges. The installer was correct, we are required by ****** to do a work order on the project because that is how they process your replacement parts and track the job. It is also how we are able to track the job and schedule you as well. I am sending this over to our scheduling department so they can take it from here.Review from Jim M

I am beyond frustrated. I bought and paid for 2 windows from Lowes in September 2023. By-*** is who ***** contracted with to do the installation. The first scheduled date for the install, was May 20, 2024. The sub-contractor showed up on site, and determined that the windows would not fit, and left. Subsequent visits by By-Tot determined that the windows really would fit, and that the original subcontractor was wrong. A second install date was set for June 4, 2024. On the morning of the June 4, I received a call telling me that they can not find the windows. Several days later, they tell me that they will have to manufacture them again. The third install date was then set for July 23, 2024. At 7 PM on the 22nd, I get a call that the install will have to be rescheduled because the installer has not passed his background check! On 7-26, I get a text that the next install date will not be until August 26. I responded to the text that was not acceptable. Mt text reply as well as my voicemail to them on July 26 have not been answered. Here I sit, having paid for the cost of the windows and installation 11 months ago, no installation date set, and sadly, no evidence or confidence that By-*** has any idea what they are doing. By-*** does not answer their phones - you always get a recording. I have spoken to the sales person at the Lowes store where I bought the windows and to 7 different agents at ********************** over the last 2 months. Everyone says "Gee that's unusual and should not have happened" , but it continues to happen! If it was not happening to me, I would not believe it. My imagination is not vivid enough to make this up! I have a log which already has 42 entries, and my windows are not yet even scheduled for installation.By-Tor Contracting, Inc. Response

Hi ***,Thank you for reaching out. I do see the chain of events and I also see that you are scheduled with one of our Pro's that we are bringing in from a neighboring market to get you taken care of on 8.20.24. I have no doubt that they will get you taken care of. As for the initial Pro that went out to install your windows, well, he is no longer with us due to us having issues with him over the last few jobs that we gave him. He inconvenienced a number of clients, and he also was not returning the product back to the store, so we have had to purchase the product to take care of the clients. We are taking action against this Pro. We apologies for this inconvenience and the store is correct, we rarely have these types of issues. With the ****** jobs a year that we do, it is a rarity to have an issue like this but sadly it does happen. Rest assured, the Pro that is coming out will get you taken care of.Review from Raymond M

****** uses By-Tor for installation. Total clown company. They scheduled us for a measurement and never showed for the time they had us scheduled. When I contacted them regarding the problem, they made excuses for their lack of communication and wasting our time. When I spoke to the project manager, he reflected the same clown attitude regarding how customers are treated. Avoid this company, and ****** for that matter since they contract with the unprofessional company By-Tor Contracting. The company just likes wasting your time and money. Horrific customer service.By-Tor Contracting, Inc. Response

Hi *******, in reviewing this issues, I see all of the documentation from the installer and the Installation Project Manager, and I see that it was for a storm door in which the client does not need to be present for. I also see that the Project Manager and the installer called numerous times to inform you that the installer was in route to measure the door. I see the photos that are date and time stamped and the measurements that was submitted to ******. All of this happened a little ahead of schedule due to the installer running ahead of schedule.Review from Daniel K

***** from by-*** quoted me a water heater instalation of $1,509. Lowes contracts them for instalation. The quote on the phone included an expansion tank which I asked if was neccessary and was told yes. The also qouted a different water heater than I originally wanted specifically because it was need to install the expansion tank. Long story short they installed a $430 water tank in 1-2 hrs with no expansion tank and charged me the quote from *****s phone call. When I opened a claim through lowes by-tor and ***** basically lied and didnt provide an itimized statement as requested. I will never buy from lowes again because of this and will not have any work done throuh by-tor. This company has zero integrity and is a stain on lowes reputation.By-Tor Contracting, Inc. Response

Hi ******, Thank you very much for reaching out. I have sent this off to the division leadership in that department to investigate this. We will pull the phone recordings and get to the bottom of this. We always want to do what is right and that is blaringly apparent with our record of service over 34 years in the trades and our top service awards in the trades. We care about people because we also rely on companies like us that provide services that we need when things come up that we cannot do ourselves and we expect the same as you do.By-Tor Contracting, Inc. After extensive research we found that the quote/contract and the water heater that was installed all matched. We did give him back the money for the expansion tank due the fact that it was not needed to meet code requirements, which the licensed plumber in that jurisdiction verified. We also found that the client has paid his bill in full to satisfy the contract.Review from Mike R

We had a reasonable expectation when hiring professional services by a major home improvement and appliance retailer, that the services would be performed correctly and not cause damage to my home or the items purchased. This was not the case very far from it.By-Tor Contracting, Inc. Response

If I could give zero stars, I would. The installers decided to show up an hour and a half earlier than the 4 hour window I was given with no notice. I wasnt home of course because most people dont have the time to wait around the entire day for a contractor to show up. When I called to figure out was going on, the person I spoked to insisted he let me know they were coming early even though I have his voicemail saved that proves otherwise. All he said is that I needed to have our walkway cleared from snow. No mention about the time window changing. I will never do business with Lowes or By-Tor Contracting again. Full refund initiated.By-Tor Contracting, Inc. Response

Hi ******, Thank you for your feedback and reaching out. It is difficult to estimate the arrival window on jobs when there are so many factors that come into play, especially in the ********** area. Our Pro was running ahead of schedule due to prior jobs running smoother than anticipated. Sometimes it happens in the opposite way where we run into unexpected issues that cause the Pro to run behind. The other factor is that the Pro has to do around 8 installs a day in order to pay the bills and to keep installation cost affordable. This means that, by nature of the business, Pro's will run ahead or behind in the schedule, it is just a part of the business, no way around it. Out of the 80,000 installs a year that we do, it is rare that a client feels the way that you do and we are sorry that you had this experience where the Pro was ahead of schedule.Review from Chad Z

Wish I could give 0 stars they are/were supposed to come install my appliances and I have called them nearly 30 times in the past 3 weeks to see if or when they are gonna come and have yet to hear back. Absolutely disgusting that I can’t use my appliances because they can’t even call me back. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. They should not be in business if this is how they treat their customersBy-Tor Contracting, Inc. Response
