On 9.7.23, I signed a contingent agreement and work order for Welter to do my roof and siding after a hail event on 8.11.23. Shortly after, I signed over to him the insurance check of $4066.34. Welter has not done the job, and I have made clear to him that I want my money back. I have not received it. In March, 2024, I found out from my insurance that the last time that Welter had contacted them was 10.9.2023. No supporting evidence was sent with the supplement to get the whole roof done. Welter had promised me that he would work with insurance to get my whole roof covered, as insurance was only cover half of it. On 2.23.24 I requested via text that Welter ***lace a piece of siding that he had taken down, as I was going to have a city inspection on my duplex on 2.27.24. He promised to do so. However, he did not do so. Between 3.7.24 and 3.25.24 I sent several texts and left several VMs for Welter. I did not hear back. Due to Welter ignoring me and not working on my behalf with the insurance, I decided to explore another roofing company. It was then that another customer of his informed him that I may go elsewhere. This was when he did a VERY unprofessional and unwarranted action, in my opinion. The new roofing company *** had called him on my behalf to find out what was going on with my project. Instead of cooperating with him, Welter looked up the name of this new roofer and sent me a mug shot of this employee, saying "this guy is convicted felon!" I did my due diligence and found out that he indeed is a felon, but is in good standing with the new company. I of course was furious that Welter would use his energy to put down a competitor in this way instead of working on my claim. On 5.3.2024 I hired a lawyer to help me get out of the contract with Welter and to get my money back. Welter has promised the lawyer and me that he will sign the cancellation of the contract and get me my money back. As of today, neither has been done.

Thank you for sharing your experience, Ms. ********* We sincerely apologize for the impact it had and acknowledge that sharing negative information about the other vendor was not the most tactful approach. However, we wish to clarify some aspects of the timeline.

On 8-21-23, you contacted us about evaluating your storm loss project, referred by your brother, a satisfied client. After our meeting, you signed a contingent agreement, selecting us for the services. The initial check issued, the "Actual Cash Value" (***), is standard as a deposit to begin the claim work.

Your claim required an insurance supplement, a time-consuming process that involved gathering detailed material and manufacturing data. On 9-13-23, we received an invoice for the shingle ITEL lab fee, a week after our meeting. However, we did not receive your *** check until 10-5-23, after performing initial services on your behalf. Meanwhile, a third-party supplement team spent weeks on your project before learning of your decision to withdraw.

We are unsure when you began speaking with another contractor, but that company eventually contacted us and demanded we cease work after we had completed multiple tasks. We realize that sharing concerns about this vendor was not the best approach, and we apologize.

Regarding missed communications, we attempted to reach you for weeks without a response. We even contacted your brother, uncertain why communication had stopped.
We are truly sorry for any frustration caused and understand the perceptions involved. For your information, your attorneys cancellation notice was only received in Sept 2024. We had already fully refunded the *** check before hearing from the Better Business Bureau regarding this complaint.

We apologize for this experience and wish you the best going forward.

Welter construction put on a new roof. Loaded roof and left shingle bundles on roof for 3 days causing them to concave. Roof was put on but many ripples with the finished roof. A third party engineer was hired to determine if the roofing job was bad. He determine it was and wrote up a report and took numerous pictures. Then found out that Welter hired another company to install roof. That companys insurance doesnt cover poor installation. So Welters attorney is trying to get money from them. This has been going on for 6 months. Owner ***** Welter will not talk to me. I have kept very good records about trying to communicate to no avail. I have asked for a new roof and a date to put on and Welter has refused to answer. I have asked for money back and then I would hire another company but they refused. This is an is*** between Welter and the installers company. They wont do anything until they get money and/or successfully *** the installers company. This is not my problem. Did a deep dive on Welter Construction and found all sorts of negative complaints against them. Finally I have a poor installation of a roof. I have no idea what if anything Welter will do to make this situation right. My situation should not depend on if they receive money from the installers company. That is not my concern. My concern is having a quality roof protecting my biggest investment. If this explanation is not clear enough please contact me.

They were hired to do storm damage repair on my house. Their project manger came to ** and wanted to inspect our house. He found damage from the storm and met the insurance adjuster. They agreed that work was required. I gave them the contract to do the work. Back in October of 2022 this started. They had a sub contractor put the roof on in November before weather got to bad. Never finished the rest of the gutter work per contract. They have been paid by the insurance company check I received and should never have given them it. No response from them to get this done. I think they have had enough time to finish. By the way when the sales person is contacted he says he will check and get back to you but never does with the solution .

I am rejecting this response because:
Welter has had more than enough time to contact and get the gutters replaced. It wasn't until I put in a complaint that they contacted me and wanted to install something else for replacement. That is not what I wanted! I was very clear what I wanted with the contact that was here last October. I have contacted *** at Welter and after talking with ****** Welter on Monday 8/14 I have decided to go with the original company Lindus to complete the job. I have requested that the money that was still allocated be returned to me. They also keep telling me that there isn't enough money to complete the job and that we need to go back to insurance for more money. Wrong I had Lindus come and quote me for the replacement and it will cover the job. I am waiting now to here back from anyone at Welter to let me know that I will be refunded what is mine from insurance.

In March 2022 I met with **** from Welters office to give me a bid on a deck replacement/siding repair/window replacement. Immediately the hardsell started with **** wanting me to sign over the insurance check which I did. He also stated that they had a paralegal working in their office which would take care of everything pertaining to insurance concerns. **** also stated that since they were now contracted to do the work that if I used any different contractors that I would have to pay a 25% penalty to Welter Const. When the fighting finally was over with the ins. *** the work finally began on about June 25 for what ***** said would be a 3 day job. Today is February 5 and the job is still not complete!!!!!!! The deck is finished after much back and forth with ***** with him LYING to me multiple times about multiple issues and when the work would be done. He initially didn't want to get a building permit until I requested he do so. He trien numerous times to get around the state building code and even the building inspector said he was in violation at least ten times. He quoted me a price on a 16'x20' deck then proceeded to build a 15'x20' deck. this is 20 square feet smaller than in the bid. He waited 6 months to fix the siding with no flashing covering the house. In his bid he had a part to fix electrical issues from the house damage which he never completed. Also in the bid was a window replacement which was never even started. ***** is full of lies and shortcuts and just tries to blame the consumer for all of his shortcomings. He should not be allowed to stay in business as he just tries to hurt the customer every which way that he can. He is the definition of a "storm chaser" who doesn't come back and finish the work that he has been contracted for. For this reason he should be given your LOWEST rating that the BBB can give this company. I will also be filing a complaint with the state DLI over this.

To whom it may concern we take our project intake in the same manner on each job, we order materials when the permit is approved permit was approved late June . At that point we measured and started looking for the window that was damaged we found out this was a custom window that had to be made and would ***********-8 months due to back log in staff and inventory. The window as arrived on 2/2/23 we are hoping to install here as soon as weather permits . With the extreme weather condition's we prefer to install in weather around 40* temps, so caulk and sealing can happen. ************* has been made aware of issues with supply's and can call **** or office at anytime if needing an update . We will keep him informed on install date and will collect balance owed once client is happy  and satisfied and all work is signed off by city.

      Customer response

      02/13/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

I have already replaced the window myself. When I questioned ***** about the delay he said he didnt want to do the work. About the 6-8 month window schedule, I called Menards the same day and they told me 6 WEEKS! ***** has a different lie every time you talk to him and even called me a liar to my face on my own property. Due to the job being completed, and the window being done, I will contact the building inspector myself since the initial building permit expired in December. ***** also told me the inspector gave final inspection when I paid them $25000, which was another lie. You cannot trust this guy as he already has censures against him with the ********** of ***** and Industry for doing the same thing to other people. So, no, I dont want this company on my property ever again and just want to be  done with this shoddy, unethical sham of a company.

Welter was hired to replace my ************* due to a hail damage (insurance covered) claim. Agreement signed on 8-7-20 & work order signed on 9-10-20. The roof replacement was completed & the gutters were not replaced until the following May '21. When replacing the front porch roof, the rain deflector was not replaced properly & only partially painted to match the roof (does not deflect the rain properly). In addition the roof on the back shed (crown strip) was installed improperly (not staying sealed down). ***** Welter reviewed the issues in June '21 when he picked up the final balance due. He said he would have a crew out to fix the issues as soon as possible. Since then I have received one excuse after another regarding getting the job completed. Most recently 6-4-22 ***** said that he would have someone out by 5:00 PM on Monday, June 6th.....no one has shown up or called to date 6-23-22. All I want is the job that was paid for in full well over a year ago to be completed properly.

This is my second complaint with this company. We came to an agreement with the original dispute with the BBB around June 2021, but they have yet to follow through with what they agreed to do. We had hail damage and they fixed our roof in 2020, but have yet to do anything about our gutters, siding etc. They have been paid $4,930.74 to fix the damages that weren't associated with the roof. We have tired to contact them multiple ways and they take a message or don't reply at all. I would like to get my money back since they don't seem to want to do the job.

Hello we have had no contact at the office or sales , we did get a facebook message and responded . We had been waiting for client to make selections for the siding we had tried to get them all they wanted out of insurance but was out of there coverage . We are trying to find a way to get this job done but need clients to make a selection the samples were confirmed delivered back in October when we had time to complete this . It is now middle of winter and we can not install vinyl siding with adequate warranty. We would prefer clients pick a siding since the insurance company won't replace it all and there siding is no longer made we would like to get this closed also . Client has made previous compliant and we are truly navigating a difficult situation the best we can. Client can reach office 24 /7

I am rejecting this response because: During the last complaint in October, the business did reach out and talked about samples on what could be done. We requested the samples be sent to us so we could look at them. The business did not send the samples and several emails and phone calls were made about not receiving them. We never received replies or samples, so this second complaint was made after they continued to "ghost" us. The Facebook complaints were made at the same time this complaint was started. Their response from the Facebook messages said they would call us the next day, and have yet to receive any call. Their communication is very abysmal. We would like a refund of the money that wasn't used for the roof so we can find someone who is capable of completing a job that they would be hired for.
