We built a brand new cedar deck in 2017. We had PermaSeal treat our deck treated in 2018. Within a year we noticed several boards turning black. Each year more and more. Now some have rotted through. We tried to contact Permaseal and they stated we still needed to clean the surface. So we bleach the areas and still have black mold coming thru the boards. The statement of Understanding Wood that we signed states a permanent effective seal against moisture preventing further rot and decay. Then once the warranty was given to us it states it does not coveer decay, damage or imperfections that exist in the wood? I would agree, same runaround from Permaseal as others in other reviews. Would give this company zero stars if possible. I dont see how BBB can possibly give them an A+ rating.I wont trust the BBB anymore either!Perma Seal USA LLC Response

Per the warranty that was presented and subsequently mailed to the customer, we will be happy to reseal the boards that is replaced for the duration of the warranty period. We strongly advise not to use bleach once cleaning the surfaces, a mild topical deck cleaner form the home improvement store is recommended.Review from Valerie M

**** deliberately mislead my mother to purchase a contract. He was told, by me, up front that she had dementia and would not understand and all she wanted was for her concrete to stay white. He knew this would not happen and had recently admitted this to me. He knew she didn't understand the contract and he could not provide what she wanted. She said multiple times, "it will stay white", he said yes, if washed down quarterly. The moral thing to do would have been to tell her he could not guarantee this. Instead, knowing she had diminished understanding, he continued to agree what she wanted would happen. Of course, it did not.She spent a substantial amount of money for a product she did not want.I advised her against this, but she believed what **** verbally told her. I think she deserves a refund for verbal fraud.Perma Seal USA LLC Response

Sorry that you feel that she was taken advantage of. I can assure you that she wasnt. I was very clear with her and with you as well. If there were reservations about using our services not only could you have told me at the time of the appointment but in the 3 business days after the appointment through the 3 business day right to cancel. We are very thorough and up front about everything that our product does and does not do. We even review everything that was discussed during our presentation in the sales documentation. All these documents are signed by her. The documents were sent to your email. It is disappointing that your reaction is to go give a bad review (your choice to do so) because we wont perform a service that is clearly explained in all our documentation that we dont do and want a warranty claim for something that doesnt fall under the warranty. Then to use a health condition that we werent alerted to and couldnt know. Furthermore, you were there for the appointment, you had reservations, you allowed your mother to move forward anyway, you received all the signed documents to your email and had another 3 business days to voice your concerns and didnt and then want to blame us because we are honoring our contract. I cant stop you from reviewing us negatively on BBB. However, before you do, I would ask that you consider what youre asking us to do even though you know we dont do it. How can I break our agreement for you and then hold all others accountable to the letter of our warranty. Regardless of whether you negatively review us on BBB or not your concrete is still guaranteed for ****************************************************** your warranty documentation which was also emailed to you.Review from Angela M

It's sad but from all the other reviews I can see that I am not alone in the frustrations with this company. They do not back their product and they make false claims in order to make the sale. It is not worth it, it seems like it will save you money with their "25 year warranty" but that's just a marketing scam because the product will make your wood look so bad you end up spending far more than you should have to and could have just hired a professional to stain it annually for less than the excessive cost to use this product that doesn't work and destroys the aesthetics with white fuzz that never subsides even with professional powerwashing that is expensive and I was told wouldn't be needed if I went with their product. I tried to communicate with them regarding very genuine concerns similar to all the other reviews below and was talked to with disdain, ignorance, excuses and gaslighting, anything but genuine customer service, honesty, help and doing the right thing. Absolutely disgusted with this company. They communicate only to try to cover themselves in case they are sued, not out of care for the customer. It's an absolute scam. I do not recommend.Perma Seal USA LLC Response

No one is gaslighting you, nor did anyone even hint at that. We are here to help. The white fuzz that you speak of will happen every time you use pressured water to clean your deck, that is normal phenomenon that you were told by us would happen which you also signed documentation for (cant speak to what the other person you had pressure wash your deck told you). To maintain as was stated we recommend rinsing the deck off frequently with plain old water from your hose with a regular nozzle on it to keep debris, bird f**** etc cleaned off it. We do not recommend any specific cleaner (although Krud Kutter is a commonly used wood cleaning product that is safe to use on wood its not the only option). Using that with pressured water will help remove the oxidation or greying from the wood (will not make it look like the day you had it built but will restore to the natural state based off the age and condition of the wood). Your pool deck is in all day TN sun it is going to weather and grey much faster than a deck that is under cover of trees or shaded by the home for a large portion of the day. Further, in all your documentation that you signed it is clearly covered and was re-stated verbally by your sales person it says PermaSeal doesnt guarantee a look or color to your wood, we guarantee long term preservation (i.e. the wood is protected against rot and decay, so if it rots you make a call and we will replace the rotted wood and reseal for 25 years transferable with your home). Those same documents state that the wood will grey and weather over time, how fast depends on your sun and weather exposure, as discussed above. Again, your deck is protected for the remainder of your 25-year warranty. Should any of the wood rot or decay, please dont hesitate to call us so we can get that warranty claim handled for you, like I stated before we are here to help. I hope that after reviewing your documentation you will see that at no time did we mislead you, nor are we violating the warranty that we have with you.Review from Greta Z.

PermaSeal came to my house over two weeks ago to seal my deck. However, at no point during the estimate or before the work started was I told that the blasting material would get ALL OVER my garage door, driveway, trash can, and everything in the vicinity of such items. When I called about this, ********************* told me to spray it off. I had already tried that before calling and told him such along with the fact that spraying it only created a bigger, clumpy mess. I did not realize I was going to pay a huge amount of money to have the back area of my house left in such disarray. This material, which is STILL all over my driveway as of the date I'm leaving this review, sticks to the bottom of my shoes, thereby tracking it into my house, my car, or anywhere else I go. Is it normal for PermaSeal to not respect the customer's home and yard? If I had known this was going to happen, I would have never hired PermaSeal. I'm making sure all of my family and friends know to not hire PermaSeal but if they choose to ignore my suggestion, they should expect this kind of unprofessionalism. I also filed a complaint directly on the company's website and was ignored. I wish I could give PermaSeal zero stars.Perma Seal USA LLC Response

We are sorry to hear you are having some issues with your deck. We still recommend having the deck cleaned every year to keep it clean from contaminates and maintaining the integrity of the deck. Wood will not rot in one year so we can't be sure if there were any preexisting problems before we arrived. We do offer to come back and reseal any repairs that have been made which is what our warranty states.Review from Cheryl C

I had my deck "sealed" in 2020. When he was finished, the posts looked "fuzzy". When I asked the guy about that he said it would go away. Also I was told we could just wash the deck and it would take away any mold/mildew. NOT! We even paid somebody to pressure wash it! Mold still stayed. Also one board rotted & I had to have that replaced. Now it looks like a few boards need replacing. I have had several appointments with Permaseal but they were never honored! I started calling them last year. Finally, several months ago someone came out that didn't live far from me. He said it looked bad & took pictures. I never heard back from them. I called again. Another appointment was scheduled to fix it. No one showed! Another appointment was scheduled...no one showed. Another appointment was scheduled over a month out...for today...NO ONE SHOWED!!! I called yesterday & ***** said "you've already had your deck done"! I said NOOOOOOO...I am talking about getting my deck fixed! He said oh, yes, I see that now. It is very small print. Yes, you are scheduled tomorrow at 9. I asked who should I be expecting and he said one moment. I was on hold for quite a while & he came back & said **** knows who but he is in a short meeting and will call you in a few minutes. He never did! I've called them 3 times this morning...twice I was put through to ****'s voice mail & the third time Eric told me all he could do was schedule appointments, he couldn't tell me if he saw one scheduled for me! All he could do was put a note on ****'s door to call me. I don't expect a call at all! I've been waiting....again for someone to show & I am now livid!!!! This is the worst company for customer service I have ever dealt with!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING A YEAR FOR SERVICE!!!!! EACH APPOINTMENT WAS 2 OR 3 MONTHS OUT!!! RIDICULOUS!!! DO NOT USE. THIS COMPANY!!!! IF MY DECK COLLAPSES, I WILL SUE THEM!!!!Perma Seal USA LLC Response

As I explained in the email yesterday there were unforeseen circumstances that came up and the schedules had to be tweaked. We do not purposely intend to move or cancel appointments and will continue to provide the best service that we can. I have moved things around to make sure someone can be there to inspect your deck concerns, and they will be in that area for the week. If I could take care of this sooner I would but as you know a lot of people are dealing with delays on things and this just happens to be the case today. We will still take care of any warranty issues that you may have and will take care of it as soon as we can. I have looked at the pictures you have sent me and can see no evidence of any structural issues with your deck so I'm pretty sure it's not going to fall down. We provide a sealing service and have nothing to do with any structural issues you may have with your deck. We do not promise any type of permanent color change for the wood and are not a staining company. We provide information saying that your deck will still need to be cleaned with a topical cleaner once or twice a year based on numerous reasons. It has to do with exposure to sun, shade, trees, etc. If you have any other questions or concerns please let us know.Review from Nick H

PermaSeal came out and sealed my privacy fence and driveway for me. I couldnt be happier with the final product. Had a friend over and his car leaked oil on my driveway. I was able to remove it with some lite **** dish soap and my garden hose with sprayer. If youre looking for a quality company that does honest business and is extremely up front with what to expect and what they warranty, then look no further.Review from James M

They are very bad at communication. Rude when calling them, they answered the phone saying "yeah", like we were interrupting their day. Don't call back or e-mail in a timely manner. Only talked to the same person one time, had to keep explaining the situation. Had to have them re-seal thirteen months after initial work because we noticed the water was soaking in. They re-sealed in October 2022 and said, "doesn't look like it was done right". That caused boards to warp and splinter/fray. Said they were going to seal new boards so they would be ready to come out and replace in 2-3 months. We waited 5 months and finally called them. After 5 days of waiting, they finally called back third week of march and set a date for 10 may (2 more months away). We are in ********, ****** and they said that was when they could be out here next (they had other calls to make around the area that day). On April 20 they set E-mail saying, "they will not be coming out because of warranty". It did read they would not replace even if their fault. They could also have said this from the beginning instead of stringing us along. It was a new deck. I feel like they rob us of our hard-earned dollars. They admitted the first job wasn't done right; we should be compensated. We will not post this on social media, but we will never recommend this company.Perma Seal USA LLC Response

It is in our statement of understanding that we will come out and reseal any boards that have been replaced . The repairs have to be done at the homeowners expense. We would be happy to come back out and reseal any new repairs that have been done based on our warranty. We always try to get people back on the schedule as quickly as possible.Review from Mike B

I had my driveway sealed with Permaseal in 2020. I thought I understood sealing with this product would eliminate the annual sealing that my concrete contractor recommended. Their info online says it saves annual sealing. Well, surprise! When I began to see spots on the surface where the concrete seemed to be coming off or pocked marks I contacted Permaseal. They inspected it and the owner of the company says their product goes deep into the concrete but does nothing for the surface. That limitation is sure not what I expected. I say buyer beware. If you think you're getting your surface sealed then you are not. I could have saved a lot of money and paid to have my drive surface sealed annually. Here is a link to their online claims about concrete sealing. Sounds to me it saying that it seals the surface as well. ******************************************Perma Seal USA LLC Response

PermaSeal Concrete Sealant chemically reacts with concrete to create new material, not concrete, not sealant, but a building material with the best properties of both, protecting against corrosive materials such as acids, salts, oils, etc. PermaSeal concrete sealer is an industrial sealer for use on new or existing concrete that has been poured to ASTM standards. If concrete has not been poured to ASTM standards, PermaSeal does not warranty said concrete. PermaSeal does not protect against, warranty or guarantee against cracks, cracking, concrete pop or popping.Review from Tonya W

PermaSeal USA does not back their workmanship. I had them out to bid cleaning and sealing my 2yr old cedar fence. The salesperson gave an elaborate presentation in the backyard complete with a binder full of photos showing before and after results on how the fence would look after the detergent application, powerwashing, and sealant application. They mention that there would be a 3 month "curing" time after which the fence's original color would "pop." The salesperson spoke of the great BBB reviews and referred to areas of my fence that still looked fresh as to how my fence would look after the treatment. I was told the process would take 2-3hrs. The workers weren't at my house for 45mins. It was raining and below freezing and was obvious they were rushing through the job. I watched from my windows and saw no detergent applied to my fence. I called after 3 weeks to express my disapproval of the results and how my fence does not look any different than prior to the powerwash and treatment. I was told to call back at the 3 month mark and that I would definitely see the new fence look at that time. I called at the 3 month mark & was told that they weren't going to do anything to try and make this right. They said the did everything they were contracted to do. Yes, they apparently put a sealant on my fence. But why build up with photos comparisons and express how my fence will look brand new if that's not what is actually going to happen. I can understand if my fence were 20 years old but it's only 2 years old. This company doesn't care for it's customers and is a complete fraud. Everything I was told in the sales pitch was lies. Stay far far away. Don't get scammed like I did. *** ****** and his team will take your hard earned money for nothing in return. This company won't be around for long with all the terrible reviews, so your 20 year guarantee on the sealant means absolutely nothing. *** ****** was extremely unprofessional and knows nothing about customer servicePerma Seal USA LLC Response
