I was hit by one of shelters insured, he said the accident was not his fault. He stuck with his story. Shelter did their own investigation and excepted responsibility, they could have easily taking their insured side and not paid the claim. Danny P. handled the repair claim and was easy to get a hold of and paid out right away. I was worried after reading all the negative reviews that I was going to have a hard time, but it was just the opposite from my first phone call. One of your employees in ********* cut me off and pulled right out in front of me on *************** yesterday. I didn't honk or do anything. I had to basically lock up my brakes so that I did not rear end him. He ends up turning almost immediately and sticks his finger out his door and flicks me off. He should be a little more respectful since he's representing shelter insurance and because I saved his mind size ***** truck from getting rear-ended by a V8 full size pickup truck. Also I was pulling a utility trailer that made stopping very difficult. not only are their agents irresponsible but their corporate office does not prioritize their customers AT ALL. it has been a MONTH since I got in an accident and now have no transportation and a vehicle that is on loan that had no full coverage insurance without my knowledge. this company ***** and does not care about you OR RETURNING A SIMPLE PHONE CALLShelter Insurance Corp Office Response

************** was involved in a collision on June 20, 2024. A review of the policy indicates at the time of the loss, ************** did not have collision coverage. Our adjuster left a voicemail on June 21, 2024 for ************** to return the call. A letter was mailed that day asking her to call to discuss the claim. Another call was made on June 24, 2024. The phone did not ring and went directly to voicemail. On June 25, 2024, our adjuster communicated with the insured via text messaging. We understand the insureds concerns, however, she did not have collision coverage necessary for Shelter to repair the vehicle. Thank you for the opportunity to respond.Review from Michael B

Not necessarily this agent, but shelter is the worst insurance agency ever. Cut rate, no communication, and no access to claims when their driver is at fault. Now the adjusters phone has been disconnected.... Booooooooo!!Shelter Insurance Corp Office Response

****************** comments were forwarded to a Supervisor in the *********, Tennessee Branch Claims for handling. The supervisor called ************** to discuss his concerns. ************** is seeking his out-of-pocket rental expenses. Mr. ****** stated he spoke to a woman earlier who was going to send him an email requesting those receipts be returned for review. ************** does not remember the name. ************** said this would resolve his concerns and had to return to work. Shelter is writing in response to Ms. ********** BBB review following our denial of her claim for windshield damage allegedly caused by flying debris from our insureds vehicle. Our insured disputes liability, as he was driving with an empty dump trailer at the time of the alleged incident and had hauled only sand earlier in the day. The police advised ********************** to report the incident to her own insurance carrier.Shelter understands that this is not the resolution ********************** was hoping for, but based on the facts, we stand by our conclusion that the elements of negligence were not met to show liability on the part of our insured.Review from Kimberly M

Horrible experience with Shelter Insurance. Note to self pray you never get your car hit my someone who has Shelter Insurance. The adjuster I was given was *****************************. Since the 2nd day of *********** total amount of the claim was ******* not a huge amount to pay if your Shelter insurance. *******, has poor communication skills, lack of empathy and I feel is in the wrong profession. I myself am in costumer services too, however, the patients and family I take care are cared for with kindness, respect and with integrity. I'm angry at the run around and rudeness I received. I read Ms. ******* concerns regarding the handling of her June 2, 2024 claim, specific to her interactions with ******** *******. Shelter appreciates feedback on employee and claim-handling concerns and acknowledges ****************** feelings of miscommunication and lack of empathy.Our records show that ******* assigned the auto portion of ****************** claim to Adjuster ***** two days after the accident. Shelters initial payment was issued the next day and thereafter payments for the cost of a rental, vehicle repairs, and Loss of Use. While Shelter regrets to hear there were initial concerns, the claim resolution appears to have been prompt and comprehensive.Thank you for the opportunity to review and respond.Review from Rav B

Shelter Insurance reviewed the complaint filed by *********************. On Saturday, May 11, 2024, ************** was hit by an uninsured driver. Our adjuster spoke to ************** on Monday 13, 2024 and explained the claim process. The next day, the estimate was received, and our adjuster spoke with the insured. On May 15, 2024, the estimate was reviewed, and payment issued. That same day, our adjuster explained Shelter would pursue subrogation through the claimant carrier. A supplemental estimate was received, reviewed and paid on May 22, 2024. ************** called our adjuster on June 6, 2024 to get the claimant carriers information. On June 11, 2024, our adjuster spoke to the claimant carrier and was advised they accepted liability. The claimant carrier was advised Shelter would send the subrogation demand once the rental invoice was received. On June 14, 2024, our adjuster spoke with ************** and the shop regarding the pending final supplement. ******************************* Shelter Insurance office in ****** gives customer service that is above and beyond. *************************** stays on top of all of our policies and reaches out when we need to give attention to a detail we have forgotten or overlooked. Our inquiries are always answered quickly, and we always get the information we need. Some of the policies we need require an agent who has in-depth knowledge of insuring not-so-typical properties. ****** works with us to determine what type of policy we need for business policies that are not standard.When we need to file a claim, we are always surprised at how quickly the claim is processed. During the aftermath of the multiple tornadoes in ******************, we have been amazed at how quickly Shelter has been able to respond to our needs.Shelter Insurance Corp Office Response

Shelter is a scam! Takes customers money with no intention of putting customers a priority! Theyll accuse you of fraud and deny your claim if you file one and then drop you! Customer service is one of the worse! Do NOT use this company! Vehicle was stolen and had every coverage possible but was met with rude and degrading adjuster then referred to as a fraud for the claim!Shelter Insurance Corp Office Response

I read the complaint filed by ***********************. On January 1, ****, ****************** vehicle was stolen. At the time of the loss, the Auto policy was active. When claims occur, it is standard in the insurance industry, to complete the investigation prior to settling the loss. This includes the completion of the required Proof of Loss forms. As the titled owner of the vehicle, it is reasonable for our adjuster to request **************** to complete the form, sign and return. Once the form is received, we can proceed with the investigation. Our intentions are to complete the investigation to ensure the claim is settled correctly and in a timely manner. I apologize on behalf of our adjuster for any comments **************** deemed rude and/or unprofessional. Thank you for the opportunity to respond.
