Company: STL Concrete and Landscaping Paid: $20,000 Issue: Got a pavers patio put in a few months ago end of July 2022 and the company did a horrible job. They used a pressure washer to take off the grout like stuff stuck to our pavers and basically took off the top layer of our pavers and we are left with this (all white looking on them). They came out twice to fix and each time it got worse. And then we also around the edging looks all jagged and also need that fixed. When going back and forth with the owner, he basically told us it will never be perfect but how do you stand behind this kind of work. - super disappointed. Thank you in advance

The day we started the job the yard was kind of wet we noticed it was irrigation on we asked her to turn it off they said they would after we had half the patio built the next day it was soaking wet and underneath was pumping and we noticed the irrigation had not been turned off so I asked them and she told us they thought it was turned off but they forgot and sorry

The issue from day one is their irrigation being on and soaking the paver pad.

This is neglect on the customers end - which our contract states about customer neglect.

The Border you are speaking about - those are old photos , we agreed with you that the subcontractor we hired did not do the best job, We personally came out as soon as you said something and gave you an entire new border. - you approved the new border and you were happy, so I'm confused as to why you are posting old pictures and talking about the border when it was entirely replaced.
We sealed your patio - and again your irrigation system that you did not turn off and it did damage. - that is neglect from the customer "the buyer" stated in our contract. i have attached updated photos of the patio - including a NEW border. Your photos are old ones. We are happy to come out and meet in person over the issue to come up with a plan, the owner NEVER said it will never be perfect in any way, I'm sorry but you're putting words in his mouth that are untrue. The owner has always been available and always happy to make things right.

      Complaint: 18342053

I am rejecting this response because of the below...

      1.  Talking Contracts, see above images where ******************* comments on a public form on Handy Man STL on ******** on November 9, 2022 where he says he subbed out our project to fix the issues his team created and made things worse.  **** states the subbed contractors did a walk through with us, which never happened.  They would show up when we weren't home or not even know they were here and then leave and say nothing to us (one actually showed up with their kid).  The contract clearly states (see attached) that all work will be done by their workers that are fully insured and covered by works comp, property damage, public liability, and complete operational insurance.  So they are actually voided their contact with us - because we would have never used them if they were going to sub this out.

      2.  *********** never on the first day told us the yard was wet - wasn't wet at all (fully dry).  It was day 2 in the morning they asked because it was wet as which they said they had looked themselves and said didn't cover any sprinkler heads (which they did cover one, then my husband and I discovered it and had it turned off by our sprinkler company on a small part of the patio.

      3. The damages from the shotty work on all the jagged cuts to the edges and also the company's team taking a power washer to our patio, scraping off all the top of our pavers isn't from the irrigation system but from the unprofessional shotty work of the company's team.

So, I reject the company's response and hope others don't experience the unprofessional work and leadership from this company.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************

We are not going back and fourth and dealing with the lies you are  telling/spreading.

We have pictures of the wetness from your irrigation system, that we took - you can see it on the patio -  also have pictures of text messages with you - saying you liked the workers and you tipped them (you personally told **** in the trxt you tipped them)- if work was so shotty why tip the workers?????

You did more then 1 walk through and approved - you paid us - Clearly walk through was done.

The new border you also approved of and was happy now all of sudden months later it's shotty work??

We can go to court on this matter if you would like to lie in front of the judge we are ready.

I am rejecting this response because:

Again, please review the pictures - we tipped the workers on the last day before they were done because they were there all day and
Felt bad for them and knew that we needed to talk to ****, which we did. **** came out and promised to fix all the issues, so we handed over the check because we thought he would do the right thing, which we were wrong. See text where I go over the issues with him and he was coming back out.

Your response doesn't address that you voided your contact by sending sub contractor's and they took a power washer to my whole patio and took off the top of all the pavors and no one did a final walk through with us.

So if you call the work you did at my house as great work, that's insane; it's shotty work and from Handan STL and the responses I saw,  not the only one this company takes advantage of.

Thank you for your great customer service and response to make things right.

      Again, he sent peoe

      we definitely

      Sincerely,

/12/07/2022: Mediator sent an email to the consumer requesting an update. [CR] I responded back to their last response but I haven't seen a response back from them 12/19/2022: Mediator left a voicemail for the consumer regarding business response.

      Business response

      12/19/2022

12/19/2022: We asked the consumer to make sure to shut off the sprinkler systems, the sprinkler system was not turned off as requested, causing an issue with gator dust on the pavers. Acting in good faith we have tried to correct the issues that was neglect on the homeowners for not shutting down the sprinkler system. We stand behind our work, and did attempt to work with the consumer directly, but they refused to reason with us. We will not offer any monetary refunds. The work was completed per our contract.  The consumers continue to leave bad reviews on social media, we have text messages stating we had requested they not turn on the sprinkler system until the pavers were completely dry. We can not continue to work with them until the horrible reviews are removed from social media, this was caused by neglect from the consumers not our company.

Stl concrete and landscape is reckless in the contract there is a collateral damage clause , how ever it so states we will preform the contracted job with appropriate tools ,conduct business professionally, and properly. They hit my house with a bobcat and ripped out a 1500.00 French box drain cost me 600 bucks in foundation and siding damage and washed out concrete in my front and back yard and left all the damaged trash and drain stating it would have cost 4000.00 extra dollars to remove the trash after the fact when confronted on the “ collateral damage “ still an extra 1800.00 to resod my yard 400 bucks to remove the washed out concrete they tried to hide under the dirt … copy of the contract is included… for proof

To start your complaint is lies. $4000 to do a cleanup . That is completely ridiculous we would never we request for a cleanup.regular Cleanup is already added in the orginal price. What trash are you talking about ? You wanted sod , no company gives sod for free. A final cleanup was done. I have attached pictures of the yard graded seeded and straw (which we did not have to do) as our contract states. No concrete was left poured under the dirt.
We do not have a bobcat. We have a 6500lb Takeuchi- if we would of ran into your house as you claim it would of ripped of the whole side. The siding was damage due to your existing concrete poured attached to the siding . Pictured is the drain she speaks of right next to her existing patio, her husband **** ******* spoke with our foreman jeremy hurt that quote " i know this drain will be damaged no big deal" . I do not know a contractor that would not be able to rip out this existing patio without damaging the drain that is basically on top of the patio.
We gave a $500 discount and paid another $400 out of our pocket to replace a couple pieces of siding which that company we hired can testify and we have pictures.. very small damage. (Which again was impossible not to considering the concrete was attached to the siding )
Her existing patio was poured on the house incorrectly- touching the siding.
Existing patio was also more the 4 inch thick , also stating in our contract we can upcharge for and did not.
We have pictures of conversations with **** (homwowner) how happy he is with the job he even posted on Facebook the job. **** said that his wife is being out of line and to just ignore her and everything is fine. (In messages)
I have alot more pictures I could add but could only add 4 pictures . This is slander , bc nothing in your statement is true. We set up a meeting for Monday may 2nd and **** her husband texted john today saying there was no need to have a meeting at their house. We said we would bring our foreman that was on the job and he said why do you have to do that. We wanted to bring him so they could not lie more bc he was there every step of the way.

**** the homeowner was happy throughout the whole process. You have been very rude to everyone throughout our company.
