I have used this place for many years. Very knowledgeable about dogs and cats. Goes beyond the what you think about grooming. Happy animals are there. Try it!??Review from Will D

I thought it was important to go into detail about the issues I have had with this groomer the past year and a half. I’ve been taking my dog here for grooming for close to 8 years without incident. A year and a half ago to now incidents have occurred.
Incident 1. Summer 2020
My young son rode with me to take my dog to the groomer in question, because I was unable to navigate the steps in front of building because of my disability I develop. There are no railings for the handicap in front of the building. My son took our dog in. He was in there for about 15 minutes. I could see him through the door talking to a worker I never recalled seeing before. When he came out, I ask him what happened? He said one of the workers said we didn’t have an appointment but the other worker said I remembered the dogs name and remember he did have an appointment. My son stated to me that one of the workers seemed to have an attitude. Since this was the first incident I didn’t think much of it.
Incident 2. Early part of 2021
I had an appointment scheduled. My mother drove my son to the groomer. The groomer, whom my son described as the same lady from incident one, told him my dog does not have an appointment and she was not grooming my dog that day. When I called the groomer I told her I did have an appointment. The worker was verbally combative. She raised her voice at me and I raised my voice back. I told her she caused me a severe inconvenience for me. I made another appointment because my dog needed grooming badly. My son was late to school because he had to dropped my dog off at home first before he went to school. I do not make appointment errors like that. I write everything down when I make any appointments.
Incident 3. Early part of 2021
My son and mother was dropping my dog off again for the appointment made from incident 2. It was real foggy that morning. They arrived what they thought was 15 minutes early. My son took my dog in an the same worker from prior incidents, scolded my son for being late. My son told her that was the time his dad told him to drop him off. She told him I’ll take him this time but next time you will have to make another appointment. His grandmother came in to see what was going on. She was unaware of the situation just apologized for what she thought was them being late. My son told me how the lady talked to him. He didn’t tell his grandmother at the time about the workers tone because he knew it would of been a serious problem. I called her and told her that was the time you told me to drop her off and if you have any issues in the future to call me and not to address my son with any issues. As a father I wanted really tell her a lot more but I didn’t want her to take it out on my dog.
Incident 4 Summer 2021
I had an appointment scheduled. Appointments are limited and I’ve waited a while for this appointment. The worker called me the day of the appointment and mentioned the place have lost power. She stated she would call me tomorrow to reschedule sometime later that week. I did not receive a call as promised. I called them and back told her I’m rescheduling my appointment for sometime this week because of the outage cancellation by them. She told me she had no appointments available. The next appointment she had was in three weeks. I said wait a minute why are you scheduling me an appointment so far away when it was you who canceled the appointment and told me I could reschedule in a couple of days. The worker was rude and disrespectful. She raised her voice at me “Do you want the appointment or not?” I had no choice but to take what she gave me.
Late 2021
I picked my dog up from the groomer. As described earlier, I was unable to go up the steps and I called when I arrived. A black female answered the phone and I ask if you could bring my dog out to the steps for me. She was very nice and bought him to the truck for me. Another time a worker over a year and a half ago bought my dog to me when I arrived. A couple positive moments from this place. She said my dog was well behaved. My dog was groomed very nicely. He hasn’t looked that good in a long time. I ask if she could groom my dog for now on. I got her name. I forgot to mention earlier but my dogs grooming has been very poor this year. With the new groomer working there I thought things would be ok for now on. I was wrong.
Incident 5. Late 2021
I called to schedule an appointment and ask if the groomer I mentioned above would be there that day. I got an instant attitude from the worker. She was very agitated for me asking for a specific groomer. In the early years they would ask you what groomer you prefer, so it was not uncommon. It was the same worker I’ve been having trouble with. I ask if I can drop my dog off at 7:30? The worker snapped back at me and said “It doesn’t mean he will get worked on then.” I said that’s fine but why are you getting so upset about it. She hung the phone up on me. My appointment was scheduled for December 1.
Incident 6 November 2021 be
I called a week ahead of my December 1 appointment. I had to reschedule because I had to go the doctor that day. I told my mother to listen in on the phone call because I wanted her to be a witness on how this worker talked to me on the phone if she answers it. The worker with issues answered, I told her my dog’s name, she didn’t ask for any other information. I recognize her voice on the phone and I assume she recognized my voice because she became very rude. She gave me a December 15 appointment and time and slammed the phone down and hung up on me. My mother heard the phone call and told me not to take my dog there. You don’t want someone like that working on your dog. I told her another groomer I requested should be working on him instead.
Incident 7. December 14 2021
A day before my December 15 appointment I called ahead. I wanted to verify my appointment because I didn’t want to send my son and mother up there to be turned away. At this time, my mother is aware of what’s going on so I didn’t want her up there getting involved in a potential conflict. Plus, I had a strong feeling with the regular ignorant worker taking the appointment, she would purposely not put me on the schedule for December 15 as planned. My hunch was correct, the caller stated I did not have an appointment. I ask if the owner was there and if she was there I would like to speak to her. To my surprise the voice sounded like the same worker I’ve been having trouble with a year and a half. She told me I was not on the schedule. She told me I was scheduled for December 1 and didn’t show up. I told her I rescheduled it and was giving December 15 by you. I started to tell my issues but she wasn’t interested plus I wasn’t 100% true if this was the worker in question. She ask if I wanted another appointment. “ I said no I’m going somewhere else.” The owner response was oh well, bye.”
In conclusion, for 7 years I had no issues with this groomer. I tipped well. There were no issues with my dog. I made my appointments and reschedule in advance if I couldn’t make it. So it is obvious, that these incidents as described above against me and my son who are black are racially motivated. Maybe this worker have issues with black men. I have no idea what happened and I’m truly disappointed to change groomers at this stage of my dogs life and that my dog will not be groomed for the holidays. I should of stop taking my dog there a long time ago. With my disability and I also wanted to make sure my dog had a familiar place he was going so I took more from this company than I normally would. Finally, this groomer takes customer service to a all time low. The owner is very unprofessional. Overall, they are very disorganized, they are dishonest, disrespectful and have some racial issues. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this groomer.North County Pet Grooming Inc Response

This customer has had 30 appointments in 8 yrs( 96 mo ) He has canceled numerous times. We have a posted sign that reads" if you are more than 15 minutes late you may be asked to reschedule ". That happened. We cherish repeat customers but ask that they extend the courtesy of calling if something comes up , as we did by calling them to cancel when the whole center lost utilities. We pride ourselves on communicating and ask that the customers respect our time and schedules also.
