Worldwide performed front end repair including paint on my 2015 jeep on two occasions. One of the reasons I picked this body shop was because they offer life time warranty. After the first repair, I had to return 3 times for them to fix / re-buff defects including bumps in the paint. Over the last few months I have noticed several chips on the hood, including chips close to the windshield. Which is unlikely to be from rocks on the roadway. Worldwide said that is not covered because it is from rocks in the road and I should expect the paint to not be as strong as the factory. Chip are normal. You can still see bumps in the paint where it looks like they painted over dirt. I mentioned this when they first painted the hood. They rebuffed to smooth it. Now my paint is chipping they say I have to pay to get it repainted.Business response

Lifetime Warranty covers all workmanship problems to repairs made that resulted from the original loss. Rock chips to paint 3 years after the repair is not a workmanship issue. It is normal wear and tear. I offered to repaint the customers Hood at my cost in a good faith attempt to satisfy his concerns even though we were not at fault. It was clear when he responded - "I will have the insurance company write you up" he was looking for a handout. We always strive to keep all customers happy, but there are times when you must hold your ground in principle. I immediately contacted Nationwide Insurance and told them about the complaint and asked if they would inspect the vehicle to see if they agreed. If they do not, I will gladly reimburse them for a repaint. They said my position was noted and would respond when a complaint was filed. I have not heard anything since.

I am rejecting this response because: it is not normal wear. The paint job was defective from the beginning. The vehicle was returned on 4 occasions for ripples and bumps. They buffed the hood several times which made it look OK but in doing so made the paint too thin. The result is paint chipping. The vehicle is stored in garage, is well maintained and has low miles.Paint chipping after 3 years is not normal wear and tear. There are no other paint chips other than on the hood where service was performed. Their “lifetime” warranty is misleading.
