I was seen in October of 2023 in the ER at North Kansas City Hospital. During the intake process my insurance information was apparently not taken correctly because I have had every single bill associated with the visit denied by insurance. Every single medical bill I called on and told them to refile with my insurance did so as instructed and was paid by insurance or myself after filing the charges correctly with my insurance. I made 2 calls to Midwest Emergency Medical Services telling them my bill from them says denied by insurance and it's because they aren't filing it with the correct information and they need to refile. Nobody ever refiled it, it was easier to send it to collections for $524.00. We disputed the charges and once again called and told them to REFILE it! The guy I talked to sounded annoyed that they would have to completely refile my insurance but did so because they final bill I really owed was only $47.10. I called them back SEVERAL times to try and pay this amount immediately to them and they refused to take pmt directly, told me my balance was $0, which it was because it was at collections but they wouldn't listen to me telling them that and that it was only fair to me to pay THEM, not collections. I asked for a supervisor several times to only be hung up on EVERY single time. I finally demanded a supervisor first thing upon them answering and was able to talk to one. She was nice but however told me that it was just easier in the long run to just pay the collection agency then it was for them to pull it back because it would take several weeks. I explained to her that I had a hard time admitting and agreeing to my bill in collections when it was nothing I did! It was all on them from day 1. If they didn't have the correct insurance info, they should have been reaching out to start with. I tried to get them to correct by reaching out and was ignored. They could have had their money months ago had they done what I told them long ago!
