In July of 2017 I purchased a 1977 MG Midget from a private owner. The car was not running, and I wanted to restore it to the original shape. I took the motor to ***************************** of Auto *********** of ***********, IN to have the motor rebuilt. After that was completed, I took the entire body to DML Classic Auto Sports in ******************, IN to have the body repaired and repainted with 2-3 over coats of Clear Coat. I then took the car to 2-3 places before I found Precision Car Restoration in *********, ********. I had several conversations and sent pictures of before and after painting to ***************************, and he stated he was interested in completing the project. Several weeks later a friend and I took the car on a trailer to the business for further evaluation by ****. On 4/21/21 I mailed several copies of electronic diagrams and a short time later **** stated he was interested in putting the MG back together. On 5/3/21 my wife and drove to ************** with a check for $5,400 and I signed the Estimate dated 4/28/21 for $26,936. The anticipated production schedule was identified as 5 months which was also indicated on the production and schedule form. In June of 2021 *************************** sold the business to *********************** & Associates. Nobody notified me about this occurrence. I noticed this because the first supplemental charge was dated 3/15/22, 15 months after I signed the original agreement with *************************** of Precision Car Restoration on 5/3/21. Then I received another quotation from Precision Car Restoration dated 7/20/22 for $34,027.67 that was unassigned and didnt include notes. Then on 8/23/22 I got another quotation from Precision Car Restoration for $39,072.62 without any notes, without an explanation and also unassigned. Then I received a 3rd quotation dated 6/14/23 for $47,111.08. Written on top with pencil was Final Product 6/17/23. Not signed or anything. Please view the attached documents. I have several issues I would like to address and other important details I have outlined in the attachments. Ive also included 2 pages of my cost experiences, 1 copy of Release Agreement, and 1 copy of my experience as a result of workmanship from Precision Car Restoration.

      Business response

      11/15/2023

      Good Morning,

I would like to respond to Mr. ******* Claim sent to the BBB. Starting with an explanation of the situation. **************** was a client of ours having his MG restored at our facility. During the restoration period, the client multiple times told us we needed to finish his car by a certain date, which in our industry is tough to hold to when restoring any vehicle. **************** brought his vehicle to us from another shop which he pulled his car from, so we had to pick up on a car that had already been worked on by someone else. Nevertheless, we communicated everything with this client, have all of the detail, and **************** chose to pick his car up on 6/22/2023, which we advised against since the car was not completed. Since he chose to do this, we requested that he pay his final balance and sign a release acknowledging that his car was not finished, that he chose to take the car early, and that we were released from any liability after the fact. **************** has sent many letters demanding things from us, tried to file a claim on his insurance, and now is trying to slander our name through the BBB. The client is challenging costs for $88,279.30 is incorrect, and there is no proof of that amount being paid to Precision Car Restoration. This client's total spend with Precision Car Restoration was $47,111.08, for the total work completed on his MG. We tried diligently to explain what could arise to **************** for picking up his car early, and if we would have been able to finish the vehicle, Mr. ****** would have a lovely car backed by our Warranty. I have attached a letter in response to a letter received from *************************, which includes a copy of the release he signed on 6/22/2023. Also, attached is a receipt of payments **************** made to us pulled from QuickBooks showing $47,111.08. This explanation and attachments should hopefully clear the air on this matter.

      Business response

      12/20/2023

      Good Morning,

I know the case has been closed, but I wanted to just respond since **************** is saying that the amount I wrote in my response and attachments is wrong. It is not. **************** has challenged the money he has spent with us 6 different times (including the egregious amount he states in his complaint initially), with 6 different amounts, but can provide no proof or backing to his claims. I have attached documents that show Mr. ****** only paid $47,111.08, picked his car up before it was completed, and paid us for work done. This is why we had the signed release of liability in place with this customer.

      Thanks so much!
