Contracted out from ******* to fix a refrigerator compressor that was under warranty. The labor was not covered so including other parts, I initially paid Mid America over $200. The technician showed up to fix the compressor and started the install process and had to call ******* regarding the length of the line from the compressor. He told me the compressor was exactly the same so not sure why the line was different in length. He video chatted with ******* who told him to press because it shouldn't be an issue. Well after completing the install, at some point the line broke leading to an unrepairable refrigerator. The tech left with very little context other than to just call *******. So, I called Mid America and ******* told me they WOULD refund me the initial amount I paid for the other parts. Fast forward, well I never received a refund so I called them back and they are telling me that the parts were installed, and I wouldn't receive a refund anymore. Please tell me how you leave me with an unrepairable fridge and I won't be receiving a refund on the parts? I mean the tech could have REMOVED those parts if he knew it was unrepairable! So in the end I'm out over $1700 when it should have been less than $700 in total to get a working fridge.Review from Nicole S

Worst repair company ever! Office staff is absolutely awful to deal with. Its like pulling teeth to get basic information. They schedule pretty far out so dont expect to get a quick repair by any means. Their records arent correct. I had a repair done less than 2 months ago, and the lady in the office continuously argued that it was over a year ago so I had to find a confirmation email and forward it to her just to get her to stop arguing against me about it. At which point she wasnt even apologetic just chose something else to make her seem like she was in the right. When they did the original repair (to a different appliance) - which was done under warranty, they didnt fix it correctly and didnt want to schedule to come back out and fix it unless I went back through another ticket with the manufacturer (even when the repair man said to wait 24 hours and call them back if it still wasnt working). Finally after about an hour of a headache they schedule the guy to come out again between a 6 hour period of time I had to be available for for the 3rd time. Save yourself- pick another company. This one is a headache at best.Mid America Service Response

******************, I am very sorry for any trouble our company caused you, even myself am having difficulties in finding your name in our system. Perhaps the appointment was set up under another name or email as neither option shows we serviced any appliances for you. Please let me address though a few of your issues. We do set up the Service date with a very wide opening for times, we do this so that the computer can route our technicians, to allow us to service as many customers in a day that we can, by cutting down the drive time between calls. We do though send out a Robo call the day before the appointment to narrow the ariival time of your technician for you to morning 8 to 12 or afternoon 12 to 5. A email is also sent confirming your appointment.Unfortunately some manufactures do make us have the customers call them so they can send us a dispatch, everytime we are asked to repair their appliance. I would confim that that was the case with you unit, but like I stated, we do not show record of you in our system.Review from Ruth D

Unreliable and unprofessional! Refrigerator was not functioning properly. Manufacturer contacted the company to service the fridge. Technician diagnosed problem, incorrectly as it turned out, ordered part and estimated return for installation in about a week. I paid for service call, part, and shipping that day. Installation appointment was eventually scheduled for 2 weeks later. Company cancelled this appointment and advised the next available appointment was 10 days later. This appointment was also cancelled by the company. They couldnt guarantee the tech would show up at a next appointment because he was day to day whether he would be in. At this point, it had been a month since my first contact with the company. I requested the part be overnighted to me, they said they would have it to me in 2-3 business days. A week later, the part had not arrived. Called them and discovered it hadnt been shipped. It was shipped that day, received and installed by us the following day. ****** is still behaving exactly as a month ago. Company refuses to refund any of the money I paid them, leaving me exactly where I was over a month ago, but with less money. Their customer ********************** and issue resolution policies are less than desirable. Business model is clearly not one of service.Mid America Service Response

****************, When reviewing your ticket in our system, I see that we did come to your home on 7/20/23 and found ice build up in the evaporator section of your refrigerator. At that time you did pay our service call fee of $94.95 ( which at the time of setting up your call, you would have been explained this is what we charge to come to your home and diagnose the issue, any additional parts and labor are extra) you were also charged $44.20 for the part.We did have issues returning, and for that I do apologize, we are limited to the number of techs we have at this location, so when someone does get ill, we have had trouble in the past rescheduling. ( We have added additional techs to solve this issue)You asked us to ship you the part, instead of waiting for the tech to come out and install it for you, which we did. I also see where you spoke with the service manager on 8/23/2023, at that time you were asking for a refund, which he told you that if you sent the part back we would refund you the money you spent for it, but you stated that you would not do that and demanded a full refund. **************** at the time of scheduling you were informed that the service call is exactly that, the charge to come to your home and diagnose your unit. Which we did, so we would not refund the service call. We also gave you the option, to have a tech come back out to your home and take another look at your refrigerator, and verify the part was installed by you correctly, and verify there were no other issues, which you declined.I am very sorry that you have had any of the issues you have had during this repair. At Mid America Service we try our very best to service every customer in a timely fashion.Review from Kimberly M

This company is a complete rip-off! On 4/21/2023 Mid America Service was dispatched to my home via my home warranty company (Service Plus) after filing a service claim concerning my freezer not freezing. Immediately, I was charged a $125 service fee (as required by the service warranty agreement) in order to get an appointment later in the week. Upon arrival, the technician entered my home with only a tablet (no tools) and asked me to describe the problem. Again, I stated that my freezer was no longer freezing my food and the ice maker has ceased to function. The technician then opened my freezer door, stuck his arm in, touched the back panel and quickly stated that I needed a new evaporator. He then closed the door and said that it would take two weeks to order the parts and 2.5 hours to install. When I questioned the timing he then went on to say that once the refrigerator is disconnected from the power it will automatically lose some Freon; thus, the repair time needed is for recharging the refrigerator. He then suggested that the freezer was rapidly getting worse since the initial problem but when I refuted he said nothing. Hence, he was actually in my home less than 10 minutes and never inspected the rear side of my refrigerator, never removed a screw, a panel, a wire, or anything. He simply diagnosed the problem by sticking his arm into the freezer to which I was charged $125. But to make matters worse, he wrote the ticket up to say that my freezer had an internal leak (which he never mentioned to me) and thus my claim was automatically denied by the warranty company because a leak of any kind isnt covered. So now I have a non-working freezeralthough the warranty company got paid. Mid America got paid. But the only one that didnt get anything was ***** consumer!! I was told by an independent contractor that this is a popular scam between the warranty company and the service companyworking in cahoots with each other. Again, Mid America is a ripoff!!Mid America Service Response

****************, Let me start out by apologizing for the trouble you have had with this refrigerator. I can assure you though that Mid America Service does not work in cahoots with any extended warranty providers or manufacturers. We started this business to help customers solve their ********************** issues. The $125 as you stated was something written in your service agreement with Service Plus, Mid America has absolutely nothing to do with setting up those cost.I was not there so i can neither verify or deny your claims that our tech did not do anything besides stick his arm in your fridge and tell you it was a leak. I can tell you that is not standard practice, as all of our technicians have been Factory Trained and have under went years of training before we let them visit customers homes.I am attaching exactly what the tech wrote in his notes, requesting the parts needed to fix your refrigerator.4/21/23 12:22: there 4/21 FRI, 11:55 to 12:17, Sealed system leak in evaporator, causing slow cooling loss ice clump at top right evaporator; ordrng 1 WR87X27608 (Evap) and 1 WR86X25269 (Filter drier) and 1 Sealedsystem and 1 134a, O-emld tckt [Tckts/441423a.png] (via SDM)No where did our tech say it was a internal leak, we even placed the order with your extended warranty company on the following Monday 4/25/2023.On 5/1 we recieved the following response from your extended warranty company.5/1/23 11:26 RM: The following repair was declined. Please do not continue work on this repair. we have closed this call and if needed also filed the claim for you.Once again, I am very sorry that you have had all these issues, but Mid America Service was trying to complete the repair and your extended warranty company decides the course we must follow for your repair.Review from Dianne B

************, Let me start off by apologizing for any and all trouble you have had with your Range. I would like to point out a few points though, as i do not feel you told the whole story. On 7/21 we were asked to come to your home and diagnose a DISPLAY PANEL DOESNT WORK, DOOR WONT UNLOCK at this time we ordered a new TCO, DOOR LOCK ASSY which were installed on 7/29 On 10/1 we were asked to visit your home for the following complaint DISPALY WILL NOT WORK at this time we ordered parts again another TCO, on 10/12 we installed that part and technician suggested the following 10/12/21 16:30: Customers complaint after he cleaned the unit with self clean the display stopped working for the oven and boiler and the door remained locked. Replaced TECO thermostat. Unit is functioning properly now. Recommended to customer to use steam cleaning instead of self clean On 11/12 we once again were sent back to look at your Range with a new complaint ERROR CODE C-D1 on this visit we discovered the door hinges were defective causing your issue. We then ordered new hinges, and to be safe a new control board and returned to install them on 12/1 once we recieved the parts. So a little more was done then just replacing a fuse, and hopefully this also shows we were trying solve your issue instead of just putting a bandaid on it.Once again, I apologize for any and all trouble you have had with your Range.
