    My husband recently underwent a kidney transplant at ****** **************** He was discharged and referred to Phoenix Home Care in Springfield for home healthcare. The only need that he required was lab draws twice a week. We were told at ****** that Phoenix would contact us and come by on Thursdays and Mondays around 8am to draw the lab. My husband could not take his medications until after the lab work had been drawn. With having a transplant, it is essential that medications be taken in a timely manner. If medications are not taking properly, the transplant could fail.On the Thursday after he was discharged, we were up early waiting for Phoenix to arrive or at least call us to let us know when they would arrive. Some time had passed and we had neither seen nor heard from Phoenix so we called them. The person who took the call acted as though she had no idea that my husband was supposed to be their patient, however, she said that they would send out a nurse to do the lab draw. An hour later, we received a phone call from the nurse and she said that she would be there shortly. She was pleasant person, but she arrived at our home without a mask. I should say that w/ a transplant, my husbands immune system is compromised. All healthcare professionals should wear a mask around transplant patients. She even had the sniffles and had mentioned that she was just getting over a cold. Next when she went to draw the labs, she said that she did not have butterfly.The following Monday, we were up waiting again. 9am rolls around and no call and no show from Phoenix. I called them and once again they acted like they had no idea that they needed to come for the lab. I was told that they would not be able to send any over before 10am. I asked them for a call once they were able to send some to our home. I did not receive a phone call from them until well after 12pm. We had already gone to a different facility to have the lab work drawn.This is very poor management.
