I signed a contract with this company to do the work listed on the contract. After catching the contractor lying we agreed he would repair some of what had been damaged and return the remainder of my over $7000. He instead dumped all of the trashed in my driveway, took my tools and has ghosted me every since.Business response

When we do a contract with someone the down payment was for the materials. The payment after the job is our profit. The customer would come every single day to see what was going on. One day out of the blue the customer started to complain, and as for the trash we had I trailer there to put trash on. We took our trash from the job site and put it on the trailer and took it to the dump. The tools that were there are our tools the customer had not moved into the house yet. We left the customer keys were we were told to place the keys. The consumer wanted to change the contract that was already in place. My husband felt like my life was threatened and did not want me on the job site. The consumer was even following us at one point.Initial Complaint

I would like to file a complaint about Grace Restoration in Springfield. The owners are ************************* and *****************************. I hired them to tear down and rebuild my chimney. The day we signed the contract I gave them $1100 down and the balance was to be paid upon completion. We discussed that I needed it done right away because I needed a new roof due to leaking issues and the chimney repair had to be done first. That was on the day we signed the contract and I gave him the deposit on 7/21/22. He said he would be there the next week. He did not show up nor did I hear from him. It took many attempts to reach him, but he said he would come on 8/8/22. I contacted him on 8/7/22 to find out what time he would be there the next day and he rescheduled for the next Monday 8/15/22. I contacted him on 8/14/22. Again he rescheduled to 8/18/22. I had to again spend a lot of time getting ahold of him and he said he would be there at 1 pm. After 1:15 my mother who was meeting him there made attempts to contact him and left a message requesting they refund my deposit if they did not intend on doing the work. ******* responded on his phone saying he was ill and would not be coming. My mom requested the deposit back. ******* told her they would return the deposit within 10 days of the termination of the contract. ******* said the termination date was 8/18/22 and would receive a refund of her full deposit of $1100 on 8/28/22.Then they sent another message and told my mom I had to terminate the contract. I contacted them and told them if they were offering to terminate the contract then I would like my deposit back. Then ***** told me I had to terminate the contract and does not intend to refund my deposit even though ******* had already told my mother the contract was terminated and would refund my deposit by 8/28/22.
