Our house suffered water damage, July 2022, due to a burst pipe. It has been an ongoing process since then. We received an insurance check in November, dual endorsed with the Stifel. That amount was not 25% of the contractor bid. It was endorsed & deposited. We pursued the claim as it was not near enough, but took the first check. That seems to be the problem. By keeping up with claim, our claim was sent to a different department. After that adjuster came, we were sent another check to get started. Stifel wants 25% reparations before they release any more moneys. Contractor requires $20K upon signing contract (had that), & 52K to start the job. Can't call for inspection because they haven't released enough money to start. Have been in contact with Stifel, denied. Have had 4 contacts by phone in the last two weeks, promised by 2, Ayana & Courtney that I would receive a call from management in 24 to 48 hours (what if they called @ midnight?) to try & resolve the issue. Still waiting. My complaint: The amount of mitigation & repairs is 3 times the balance of my mortgage. I "technically" own 75 to 80% of my house. Why do they get control of "my money?" Shouldn't control of the funds be distributed as such?Business response
